@Linsey Paczkowski Thanks. What happened to the begonia update since the August, 2017 video? Thanks again.

nice video! and very helpful too. i accidentally broke the two large stems of my cane-stemmed begonia plant by a stupid action, but will now try some of these methods to save it.

The propagation methods you how here are great...I propagate many varieties of Rex (like the first method), Cane begonias (I have many varieties of these as well...and those are best propagated in the second method (stem cutting)...I have personally propagated from a single node, no water. third method by seeds I also have done and have thousands of cane angel wing begonia babies. For folks wanting to know if they can be propagated by leaves the answer is no...the leaf will grow root if it doesn't rot. But no plant. Like some other plants, cane need a node to grow plant. As for wax begonia they are easily propagated by stem cuttings and seeds. I have not tried leaves with those because they are much easily propagated by stem. I do not think they will grow from leaf. Leaves that tend to grow roots are HAIRY leaves. The hair become roots! Seeds are like dust...just a warning. Tinier than pepper flakes. You must be sure it is pollinated well to be viable and bee does this best. I personally took video of my Red Torch Angel Wing Begonia being pollinated by a bee. In the FALL after I brought the plant in and the pods were well dried, I took them and opened them up over a moist cactus type mix (I use Miracle Grow Cactus, Palm and Citrus mix) in an aluminum baking pan that you can get at the dollar store. Make sure you get the ones with clear lids for taking to party/potluck. Sprinkle seed on top of the soil mix you place inside the tin, then press lightly into the soil. Do NOT cover the seeds with soil. Spray with water from spray bottle. Cover with clear lid. I then kept it in a warm place with a daylight bulb in a lamp. I then ignored it...for a week or two. One day I noticed all these tiny green specks. It takes MONTHS for them to get pinky nail size (short nail). I sprayed with water once every week or so, whenever it looked like the soil was getting lighter/dryer. And a very dilute amount...1 capful to one gallon of fish fertilizer sprayed on infrequently to feed. Good luck! I am making Rex begonia and African violet leaf cuttings as I watch videos. 😊

My Begonia 'kitkat' is very easy to propagate, just cut a leaf with stem and put it on water for some weeks, it grew into a big 'bush' after i put it in soil when it grew roots. This doesn't work with my Begonia 'bowerae' and other kinds...

Do you need to have a drainage hole in your tray when you propagate?

Hi. I tried two methods with the leaf as you had shown in video and also covered over with a propagator lid but they started to grow mold on the leaves, so I threw them away. Can you advice please?
