I am neither A Greek nor a Turkish, but I know the history. When the British decided to give Cyprus its independence in 1960, a measured balance between the Greeks, Turks and the British was put in place, and it worked well until 1974. The radical Greek militias decided to bring back the crazy idea, “Megali Idea”, which translates into stealing its neighbors lands, kicking out the native population. That crazy idea, thanks to the British, worked against the Macedonia, Albania and Bulgaria. However, with Turkey the plan did not go well in the early 1920’s. The magnificent Mustafa Kemal had other ideas. Back to the early 1970’s, how did Greeks think, a powerful Turkish military would watch the Turkish people being kicked out of their land and not act?
Hahahaha all turkey had greek monument!!you come from mongolia!!your real ancestors are mongolia!!your ancestors probably islamized and later become turkish!!you dont have real history

Dear Harald, I would very much like to inform you that there is NO such a place as northern Cyprus...there is only " Occupied by the turks part of Cyprus". And i know it very well, because i am a refugee from the turkish invasion in 1974. We were violently forced to leave ourhomes. And that occupied part is only recognised by turkey , not by any other country.
HELLO Morris Welcome to Cyprus, Please don't drive and holding your camera because is illegal in south Cyprus not Sure in North. Are you coming south Greek side? Cheers! 👍🇨🇾
You keep saying that Turkey invaded, but that is not true at all. Turkey saved us. Thank God for Turkey. If it wasn't for Turkey, none of us would be alive. They are North Cyprus saviours.
You realize you’re breaking the hearts of a lot of Greeks. Especially when we see the condition of anything that had to do with Hellenism. Churches, etc. that monastery looks to me that it’ll be a hotel sooner or later.
I don’t think Gabe delves too much into history and its significance, like he said he’s a traveler. But I agree, as a non-Greek, after visiting Hagia Sofia while it was a museum and now knowing it’s back to a mosque is quite sad. My heart aches a little too. I understand the different shift in power dynamics and how the conqueror inevitably gets the final word but when similar events happen to Muslim buildings, there is always endless uproar and violence.
Hey Gabriel ,am really enjoying your videos about Northern Cyprus, cause am from Cyprus and I live in Limassol it's nice to see all those beautiful places from videos, I visited just twice N Cyprus ,I went to my mother's house in Gialousa and the other time to Kerynia to my father's old house, it's sad to see someone else to stay to their houses but it is what it is 😐,also those things you fed the donkeys are carobs 😁,I really enjoying your videos, keep it up 👍
More like D-jam-ee, with the emphasis on -ee and (considering the "opening" of the word) the -D and -j,combined together, spelled really heavy, like Djibouti, for example. I'm pretty sure that the Turkish people spell it like this, because we use the same word in greek language
you mentioned all the time it takes you to edit and upload your videos each day have you thought about emailing your video footage from each day to someone and they do all the editing and uploading for you, perhaps a friend or family member or pay someone to do it, that would free up more time for traveling
Just for the record, there is no state called North Cyprus. Actually it is area conquered by Turkey by military invasion 1974 kicking 220000 people out of their homes, and by the threat of conquering the whole country forced the gathering of the 18% Turkish indigenous people to separate from what used to be a mixed country. They are not recognised by the UN but only by Turkey. Trade runs through regulations agreed under the surveillance of the EU
Nice Island, I would love to go there, thanks so much. I read about the history about the Island, I am VERY NEUTRAL on this, I love all races and cultures, how ever it looked like the Greeks lit the fuse for all the troubles in my opinion. They got rid of the Brits so that they could quickly be totally be a Greek ruled Island as part of GREECE , that was very sneaky, as a way of dismissing the Turks who obviously was very angry.. Of course a lot more went on, but that is my take on it.
Learn history instead of saying bullshit. Of course they fight against brits when they behave bad against those people and they were not free like my grandpa whis was tortured by them, paying huge taxes and generally they couldnt live freely . Learn also that the majority of the island were Greeks and they majority vote for enosis with Greece but countries like USA Uk couldnt accept it because they want to control this area. There are new documents even from 1958 that invasion of Turkey would be hapoen with the permition of Brits, and USA. So you can see why cypriots didnt want Uk to rule. And think about again who were the sneaky rats in this history
Northern Cyprus certainly looks very chilled especially at this time of the year, it looks allot less commercialized than the south Greek speaking Cyprus
Hi Gabriel, regarding the phone service, that area of the Island seems to be using only 2G or 3G and it doesn't seem like they have 4G service, at the very least slow Internet. They really need to upgrade the service, possibly no demand for it. It's funny how they still have these Greek churches in the area so I'm assuming that a large number of Greeks still live in the area. Beautiful beach a bit of rough water very murky a lot under current.
Greeks are only .2% of the population of Northern Cyprus. I think most of the churches are just old churches that have been abandoned and aren't really used, perhaps a few of them are attended by some of the remaining Greeks.
PS. Here's some more info about the town where I stopped at the church and the mosque: "Before 1974, the town was predominantly inhabited by Greek-Cypriots. During the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 20 July 1974, the peninsula was cut off by Turkish troops, and this prevented the town's Greek-Cypriot inhabitants from fleeing to the south. As a result, with 250 Greek Cypriot inhabitants, Rizokarpaso is the home of the biggest Greek population in the North. Between 1974 and 1985, however, around 2500 Greek Cypriots left the village. Although the Greek-Cypriot population is now mainly elderly and shrinking in size, they are still supplied by the UN, and Greek-Cypriot products are consequently available in some places." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizokarpaso
@@GabrielTravelerVideos it's it's still kind of strange how they've maintained it for the Greek people there I guess the remaining people who live there but they still have the availability to see these things there they could have easily knocked them down and not doing anyting. And of course you have a dwindling population from what you've indicated from what you got.
@@wilfredotorres6628 It’s not uncommon for the Turks to defile elements of culture which they do not respect and claim “ownership” of the works of other cultures when they find it beneficial. In the occupied part of the island, few stand and many have been converted to mosques or demolished. UN has imposed sanctions to the occupied territory thus no cell service direct flights or boat transportation. Sadly, it has become a Turkish Provence.
Haha, donkeys are cool👍
I loved watching you feed the donkeys, so cool
HELLO Morris Welcome to Cyprus, Please don't drive and holding your camera because is illegal in south Cyprus not Sure in North. Are you coming south Greek side? Cheers! 👍🇨🇾
Thanks for all the enlightenment, Gabriel. Regarding Google Maps, why not download the whole country and navigate offline?
The wild donkeys are the descendants of domesticated donkeys left behind by their GC owners, after the war.
I read somewhere they got 1000s of wild donkeys, donkey paradise 🫏🫏🫏🫏
New vid!
You keep saying that Turkey invaded, but that is not true at all. Turkey saved us. Thank God for Turkey. If it wasn't for Turkey, none of us would be alive. They are North Cyprus saviours.
Only problem now is that you are controlled by Erdogan who wants to Islamise the place and make it his southern military base !!
complete rubbish it was & until today is an on going invasion
WHAT HAPPENED THE MOSQES IN GREECE DO YOU KNOW ANY IDEA
STOP SCREAMING, IT’S RUDE…LIKE
TURKISH OCCUPATION OF NORTHERN CYPRUS
@@Verity888 you know nothing about history of Cyprus so shut up
Hey Gabriel ,am really enjoying your videos about Northern Cyprus, cause am from Cyprus and I live in Limassol it's nice to see all those beautiful places from videos, I visited just twice N Cyprus ,I went to my mother's house in Gialousa and the other time to Kerynia to my father's old house, it's sad to see someone else to stay to their houses but it is what it is 😐,also those things you fed the donkeys are carobs 😁,I really enjoying your videos, keep it up 👍
11:30 That is a nice building. It seems to be abandoned and untended.
Gabriel, you're moving the camera too fast. Makes me dizzy.
FAMAGUSTA.........THAT IS THE PLACE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SHOW US....THAT WILL BE GREAT.
The British military bases there have phone boxes like in England 😅
My friends uncle fled their when the British police were looking for him for counterfeiting money😂😂😂
According to Google Cami is pronounced Jaam-e
More like D-jam-ee, with the emphasis on -ee and (considering the "opening" of the word) the -D and -j,combined together, spelled really heavy, like Djibouti, for example. I'm pretty sure that the Turkish people spell it like this, because we use the same word in greek language
you mentioned all the time it takes you to edit and upload your videos each day have you thought about emailing your video footage from each day to someone and they do all the editing and uploading for you, perhaps a friend or family member or pay someone to do it, that would free up more time for traveling
The food that you feed the donkeys is carob from carob tree!
💡👍Brilliant !!
Yawn.
Great video thank youuu
HI Gabriel
Hi there. ✌️
It is Carob plant from Mediterranean 😊that you gave for donkeys .
TRNC❤️
Beautiful place.
Enjoy your videos Gabe but for me Cyprus is ok not on my list to visit.......have a great day
These vlogs remind me of the movie Kingdom of Heaven.
amazing video.. eyes of the donkey is beautiful
after the cats , the news friends of gagriel : the donkeys
It's carob , χαρούπι in greek, τεράτσι in cypriot greek. 29:50 hahaha the donkey knows exactly what you just did and stands near the window waiting.
Big problem. Neither the Euro or the US $ is legal tender in the Illegally occupied part of Cyprus.
Stop spreading lies
Not lying. Northern Cyprus is not recognised by any Country except Turkey.
PS. Here's some more info about the town where I stopped at the church and the mosque:
"Before 1974, the town was predominantly inhabited by Greek-Cypriots. Although the Greek-Cypriot population is now mainly elderly and shrinking in size, they are still supplied by the UN, and Greek-Cypriot products are consequently available in some places."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizokarpaso
@@GabrielTravelerVideos it's it's still kind of strange how they've maintained it for the Greek people there I guess the remaining people who live there but they still have the availability to see these things there they could have easily knocked them down and not doing anyting. And of course you have a dwindling population from what you've indicated from what you got.

It’s not uncommon for the Turks to defile elements of culture which they do not respect and claim “ownership” of the works of other cultures when they find it beneficial.
In the occupied part of the island, few stand and many have been converted to mosques or demolished.
UN has imposed sanctions to the occupied territory thus no cell service direct flights or boat transportation. Sadly, it has become a Turkish Provence.
While Gabe is taking his videos and makes his living an entire nation is mourning!
FREE CYPRUS!
Unify the island from the Turkish occupation with 45.000 troops!
50 years of occupation are too long!
😁😁🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔HI YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE SECTIONS OF THE MAPS WHILE ON WIFI SO THAT YOU COULD HAVE IT WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE WIFI. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANK YOU FOR GREAT VIDEOS.
