That was a really dope, approachable way to paint a primarch! You're doing a great job of making the intimidating expensive models look way easier to approach and get that pile of shame lessened.
I would suggest, especially for a Primarch, to replace shade paints with an oil wash. Sounds spooky to a lot of hobbyists, but the result is just so much better. Sure it costs more time, but you hardly paint one of these guys in a single evening anyway.
I’m aware of oil paints and how they work and they do look great. But my channel is all about showing people easy to follow steps to get models off the pile of shame and onto that table. I try and avoid all the extra noice out there in the painting world.
@@MediocreHobbies I wouldn't call oil paints "noise out there". I am a mediocre hobbyist myself and I am still open for better techniques and buying a cheap oil paint plus white spirit is about as expensive as two contrast paints (plus cotton buds for clean up, but I see those as given in any household). But I'll get your point.
And I would love to be able to do them all. But that is a tall order. I own 5 now. I’d need to spend Brady two grand to get the rest. I have people donating me some because they want me to do then. So that’s nice. Sorry to disappoint.
Primarchs are expensive…I have a Patreon if you want to see more of them soon 😄 I will be working through them, just slowly! I have a few more currently to get through, any specific models you’re looking for a tutorial on?
Great tutorial but I do have 1 question: Why use retributor as base for a brassy color if there is Balthasar Gold which goes way more in that direction and could then be drybrushed or higlighted up?
It’s a goood question. I just felt it was to dark a place to start. I wanted the tones to be a little brighter hence me going for the retributor to start. Glad you liked the video.
@@MediocreHobbies Which then fits in with the easy-paint-scheme-approach as one could highlight up from Balthasar but that takes time and a little more practice. A good choice
If you could see one other Primarch painted on this channel...who would it be? And why?
Fulgrim! I wanted to start EC army in HH 2.0 and he would be a great centrepiece.
The Rhino’s Primarch.
Would love to see Leman Russ
Cingulum Militare is what the legions would wear I believe. Didn’t know Gladiators did thou. I was wrong-Pteruges
Rogal Dorn!
Angrons teeth are described as metal pegs in a few books

That’s my whole aim with my channel. So im glad it’s coming across and your enjoying the videos. Appreciate the message.
The tassels are Pteruges, from feather in Greek. That being said, I'd be behind updating the name to Gladiator Tassels!
^This
Cheers pal.
@@MediocreHobbies be great if there is a retcon that the Heresy was about Tassels.
The “tassels” are called pertuges
Cheers pal
AKA sack smackers

Your easy tutorials really lowers the steps to get things done. Even the armies big dudes like primarchs! Really appreaciating ya guides!
That’s very kind thank you so much pal.
Great tutorial.
If people want to use rival legions for the "victim" marines, then Space Wolves, Blood Angels or Emperors Children are good options.
Yep good choices.
Loved it. Crazy good for the effort! Would love a Dark angel mk3 and eventually mk6 and the Lion himself!
Dark angel mk3 for sure. And you feel free to send me a lion to paint up lol.
Impressive work and dedication to doing this in one sitting. Would love to see the best Primarch of all time next. Iron Within!
Ye I plan on getting dorn soon so should be all good there.
@@MediocreHobbies weird way to spell Perturabo.
Angron gets tassel hassle on laundry day
Ah that would explain his mood then 😂
Really love this and the Heresy made Easy videos so far. I was going to go Night Lords, but seeing the World Eater videos makes me reconsider.
Delighted your liking the series pal.
I could see daylight in your video, IT BURNS 🔥 🔥 🤣
It does burn. Stupid skylight. Lol
Great video! I would love to see one for Perturabo.

Cheers dude.
Can do a video on the Horus heresy space wolves video please? I’m really digging what you do on this channel!
I will indeed. I will be doing them all.
the tassels are called "Balteum" in latin, baltea (or balteum) means straps and "Bullae" are the studs.
Thanks for that, need to try remember that now :D
Love the vid❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks man I’m glad you liked it.
Are you ever gonna finish how to paint primarchs? If not do you recommend any other channel that has a similiar style?

Hahah who doesn’t.

@@MediocreHobbies I recently had your channel recommended to me, and I am loving it!
So you primed him chaos black and then done a light spray of grey seer??
Yep that’s it indeed.

Andy, quick question - you used Agrax on the Tassles (Pertuges?) as well?
Yep whole model. Keep a matching tone across the same model and acts as a protective layer on the contrast.
Pronounce it in as (tass a} tasset.
Very cool thank you.
