Mr. Paul, two facts that seem obvious after viewing your tutorials: You are a hardworking, sweet and humble human being; and you are not one of the, but, THE BEST teacher for watercolor painting! I automatically click the 'Like' button as soon as your videos start and I don't regret it at all till the end. God bless you!

Outstanding! Very good instruction on two critical subjects. I was painting a moose. It didn't look quite right. A little darkening of the background behind the antlers added the contrast needed. First that and now this most excellent video points out again how important the values and contrasts are. Thanks a bushel and a peck.

No the Canon was great (not over the top) Nothing worse then watching an instructional video with bad music, and you never have bad music.. Relaxing. Very good instruction on one color value practice. I believe painting tonal values is where most adv beginners have difficulty .

Recently found you on you tube and am now making my way through your great videos. I notice you are from my husband's home area of Hastings and Eastbourne. He went to school in Hastings but we now live in Norfolk for the last 27 years. Shame you are so far away would have loved some classes as you explain things so well. I've been painting for about a year all self taught in lock down really. Loving watercolour but also like to use acrylic ink and translation medium for more abstract work. Trying to improve my drawing skills as I really like line and wash work. Thanks for your videos and being kind enough to share your skills. Michelle Mould

Your videos aren't just demos, as most of the others, but organic tutorials about specific subjects and this makes them very useful. One thing that i love are the "mini-projects" (like the amphora, in this video) that you put inside to quickly and clearly explain a concept. They allow the viewer to immediately try it, doing something easy and fast, but that still is gratifying for the student... I think this is a very important feature. Having a solid theoric background (not from watercolor, but from other fields) on your today's subject, i could follow it easily and also express a clear judgment, and i must say that you did the best possible "compromise" in-between the time to explain the concept, how to explain it without to be boring but still giving some solid theoric foundation, and how to catch the viewer attention...
Looking forward to the new book, and my suggestion about it is... only electronic version, so there is no danger of printing something expensive, with the bonus of immediate interaction with site-videos-etc

And, I was surprised, how much I like your completed paintings, with only 1-2 colors, but lots of variations! BEAUTIFUL!! Nice job! I, of course, loved your humor of wearing the monk's outfit... and I also was surprised, how you achieved such detail using the size 12 and size 8 brush, sure makes ME look bad! How do you like that Escoda size 8 brush u used in this demo? it looks like it has a really nice point?

    Excellent, as always, thankyou.
I'd love to see you do something similar on aerial/atmospheric perspective... or perhaps you already cover this in one of your other videos?

Thankyou for this one with so much detail, loving all your tutorials.I had a great time giving it a go.
Sadly my lady came out a bit short so she looks like an Ewok in Jedi robes, but I learnt a lot doing it and will have another try.

I am surprised at how lovely the monochromatic paintings are. I actually tried this and it was harder than I thought it would be. Having a reference both in color and monotone would really help.
