- Quick installation of the ThunderMax Oil Cooler Fan (model EA7000) for the 2017 & up touring models (M8), specifically my 2017 Road King Special. Don't forget, in order for the fan to operate properly, you will need a dealer tech. or otherwise to flash your ECM accordingly.

No problem! Anything to cool the bike a little more is highly recommended for M8s.

I don’t know how I missed this one,it must have been when I was in Montana. I purchased the ultra cool fan and their oil filter for my twin cam i just need to install it. Hopefully it will cool. It some.
The ultra cool is supposed to be really good, so that combined with the filter should help quite a bit. Merry Christmas!!

With a dynojet power vision, you can tune it on.
True, however I prefer TTS over Dynojet. Fortunately, I was able to have it switched on a few miles away.
The flow oil filter and cartridge is a waste of money. It doesn’t drop the temperature 10°. I’ve tested it intensely.
It does filter a little better, but not worth the money. Cheers spend to be like.

How much have both the Cooler /Oil Filter helped? Real world temp’s with stage 2?
I have Standard RG 107 w/ Stage one & we had 96* temperatures today in Houston area and Standard riding my bike was reaching 322-326* temps,, way too hot for standard cruising. So I’m looking into the different ways to help cool it down and was intrigued by your Video Thundermax / Ultra Cool oil filter,,,, Can you give real world temperatures and outside temperatures while riding.

Hard to say exactly. I have the temps before but haven’t compared to after yet. Its cooler here in the Northeast now so those super hot days are gone. Will look at that more closely next season. I would however look at Cyclefanatix videos on this (both the Ultracool filter and M8 fan) plus the Ultracool fan. He has the exact temperatures before and after. Hope that helps.

Yes this is ThunderMax’s version but if you saw the part in the video, I’m told they are actually made by the same manufacturer as Harleys…both companies outsource them to same manufacturer. At least that’s what I’ve heard. Hope all is good brother!

Someone told me Harley will have to flash the ecu or something after installing or else the fan will never kick on at proper temps. Is this true? Or did yours work plug n play? 2023 road glide standard here.
Hey Mark! Yes, Harley needs to turn on the fan via ECU flash. My ECU is locked via TTS tune so just consider what, if any, tuner you may have used. In other words I had to use my outside shop.
Did you need to have the dealer Flash your bike to make the fan work properly?
Yes sir, but I have ECM locked with TTS tune so had my local shop do it.
