Other great (and much cheaper) SLRs are the Praktica L models, some of them also have a light meter built in, like the MTL 3, MTL 5 (B), Super TL 1000 etc. and have a M42 screw mount which enables you to get a great collection of vintage lenses.
Just get Minolta, find yourself model that you like and you can find dirt cheap a-mount lenses for any scenario.
