    One of the best and most accurate videos for wow-ff14 differences!! Nice job. Generally, if you are casual player and have limited time for video games, then FF14 might be for you. Wow is suited for more hardcore players. Especially in endgame, wow is much more time consuming game.

      He literally named the reason why I quit FFIXV and things I dislike about wow lol. (The Mainstory quest was just too long for me in FXIV; There isn't anything fun to do in wow except pvp or pve). Both in my book, the 2 best MMO's right here though. (I still play WoW though.)

      I disagree and think it's the opposite. If you're interested in current content, the time sink that's required for FF14 is absolutely insane. You can hit endgame / current content in WoW within dozens of hours.

    I like almost everything over WoW personally. But I recognize the strengths modern WoW has that FF doesn't have. Something that stuck to me was some people really do like having a hamsterwheel of content to keep them logged in. FF doesn't really do that... To me hamsterwheel content actually makes me not want to play. One thing some may not consider is the mostly unbroken open world warcraft has to explore. While I understand why FF14 is broken off into segments it was something a friend complained to me about which always stuck with me. That said when I play WoW I actually play on private servers TurtleWoW, Warmane ... soon maybe Ascension. I just don't like how bloated yet at the same time empty Modern WoW feels.
    While some may say it's a pro to access all content whenever you want to like in WoW where as in FF14 you have to follow the msq and even quest chains for bonus content and yes that is a chore if all you want to do is access the content. I like that about FF because it makes it feel just as important to you the player as it was for everyone's first time so you always get the similar experience even as skills and numbers change over time. It's also nice to know you don't have to rush.

    I was an ex wow player after the dumpster fire that was shadowlands, the constant abuse from other players in raids and mythic+ dungeons. I got so sick and tired of it that I decided to start looking into why everyone was moving to ff14.
    Before I started playing wow, I actually played ff14 1.0 (for not even a month before moving to wow)
    Sense then, I've always thought that the game couldn't possibly have gotten any better, and holy sh*t was I wrong.
    It wasn't until I actually started to be a part of the ff14 community that I realized the harsh and toxic environment that is the wow community, everyone ive met in ff14 has been kind and understanding that everyone has to start somewhere. No one raged and quit when i didn't do things the right way the first time and gave me helpful tips on how to be better. All of that's not even including the story of ff14.
    Yes, the story takes a while, and maybe be daunting for some, but once you really get through it all... wow, just wow.
    Never have I played a game, let alone a MMO that has made me so emotional and shed so many tears like ff14.
    To anyone reading this, wondering which game they should play;
    I don't pay your subscription, but please give ff14 a chance. 😉👍

      In the same boat. I couldn’t shake the want - the need - to come back to WoW until I finished Shadowbringers (before Endwalker came out). I was addicted, wasted so much money on subs when I barely played. I burnt myself out by leveling every class cause that’s what I liked to do, but I had nothing left to do after that. It was good fun while it lasted, grew up with it but those times are gone. Adult life, no time for grinding and hours of raiding.
      The FF14 story is the best I have seen in any game, let alone shows or movies. I think it’s the best story I’ve seen period. Idk what drugs the writers and designers are on but they’re insane.

    For me the biggest thing is how the combat feels... and for tab target nothing comes close to WoW. I'm in a strange spot where I HATE what rotations and class design is like on retail... it feels like a bunch of things thrown together that compete against one another and nothing lines up. I prefer the Wrath - MoP rotations that felt deliberately designed and gave a sense of FLOW.

  • @DevoutSkeptic
    @DevoutSkeptic Рік тому +2

    WoW's fundamental problem is that it's endgame is simply an engine for driving a gear treadmill. All rewards in endgame content are tied to gear so you feel compelled to do all of them or risk getting sidelined in group content. FFXIV on the other hand doesn't make you do anything other than the MSQ. The endgame is entirely up to you and at your own pace. If you only raid-log, then FFXIV will not be satisfying as you only ever get 4 bosses per tier and it doesn't take that long to get geared since you aren't completely thrown at the mercy of RNG like in WoW. But if you like being free to explore the game at your own pace instead of being forced to constantly run gearing marathons then it's a good game for you.

    honestly it's really nice hearing someone be positive about both games, I think ffxiv has a lot of little things over WoW, and some big things, but despite that I can't help but enjoy just playing and existing in WoW more. (the art style is also a big factor!) Therefore, it ends up being kind of depressing when things are so competitive and people are so negative about WoW. I guess for many it's the burnout lol. What do you think about the fact that in FF you can't gear up several jobs at the same time as the gear from raids are character wide, meaning that you are locked out from gear if you wanted to gear another job and even penalize your friends if you join them and tomes is also per character, causing a similar issue?
    Which if you wanted to play another job in FF without ruining it for your friends or make it take you months to gear up or if you want to play outside of raid night you'd have to make an alt as in a new character which in FF is basically like starting a new account as close to nothing us account wide.

    • @Ohshizzle
      @Ohshizzle  Рік тому

      Yeah the alt job system is imperfect. I've actually talked about it a bit on the channel before, but I do agree that gearing needs to be faster and just better in general. I've heard a few ideas such as role based tomes or lockouts that sound interesting. What I will say though, is that gearing did get a tad bit faster in 6.4 which is good. But, it's only a step in the right direction and doesn't fix it entirely.

    • @chazz00999
      @chazz00999 Рік тому +2

      Unlike wow, gear is meaningless unless you are doing savage raiding, and if you are doing savage raiding, you gonna do the current content 28 times each week to gear up every class at the same time?
      There is only a cap on gear until the next major patch, but what else are you gonna use your ilvl660 gear for?

    • @patrickdasp5609
      @patrickdasp5609 Рік тому

      As chazz wrote unless you do Savage raids you can play with whatever gear u want (just need the itemlevel for endgame dungeons).
      And if you are raiding and dont have an actual twink char you are usually focusing on one specific job or those who share the same/nearly the same BiS gear.
      For example:
      You want to do Savage as a tank so you will try to get all the Savage gear and latest tome items for that job first.
      But you also like healing or dps.So you will either buy or craft some gear for that class or use the tokens from the normal raid for that job. And if you have all the tome items for your main job you will get the BiS tome items for your alt job.

    WOW more endgame raiding?.. not sure about that.., the raids are longer due to more trash.., but the time it takes to finish raid tiers, its evened out.., bedside, no matter which expansion your on, you have Ultimates too.., besides the raid tiers

    • @Ohshizzle
      @Ohshizzle  Рік тому

      You're right about Ultimates, but in terms of the pure cadence of raid releases, the average WoW expansion has around 22+ boss fights with 4 different difficulties per expansion. Even with ultimate's, you only get 12 bosses plus 5 which right now is around 17. We can count extremes as well to be fair, which at that point it evens out for amount of bosses. But a lot of WoW raid teams will do Heroic plus get a decent way into Mythic per tier. I think that's all okay though, I'd consider FF to be a jack of all trades MMO, where there is so much else to do besides raid. And WoW has recently gotten better about diversifying it's content, but the main pillar of endgame is still the clear dominant choice for a lot of players.

    Worth mentioning as others have that FFXIV has a much longer and more accessible (of course) free trial with you being able to play about 100 hours worth of story content for entirely free. Which gives you MORE than enough time to understand if you like the game.
    Also worth noting that WoW has that hard barrier of entry, but once you do it, it's so much easier to adapt and learn new classes. But FFXIV has that nice slow learning curve for your class where you slowly unlock eveyrthing for your class. It makes it harder in ffxiv to swap as you're either going to have to play through that msq again to have the class dripped slowly to you, or learn on a flash like you would already be doing in WoW.

    Both are good games, but I didn't like the "anime" style of FFXIV, didn't like the music and the world, sadly I couldn't pull through ARR got to lvl 40 and quit because it was too boring for me.
    So WoW has a more appealing world to me and better art style so I really like it.
    The one thing I like in FFXIV is the community is sooo good! Someone bought me a mech mount and gave it to me for free just when I started to play. Maybe one day I'll try FFXIV again. But overall both games are very successful with huge fan base around them, whatever you play just enjoy it.

    My first and biggest and about ffXIV comparaed to wow , and you said it weirdly perfectly, is the look of the combat system, what it looks likes on the cover, we see spectacular effects, light pillars, glitters everyhwere, insane big light and dark bubbles etc, to the point where it's too much. I mean every class feels like you're playing mages. For exemple, I love playing archers in MMO's, in wow it's easy, your abilities are mainly arrows that you shoot, in ffxiv you shoot light, thunder, magicals rays etc etc, like where are my good old arows? I even played a spear jobs, all your hits makes lights pillars appear and green magic debuffs with audio effect of like magical sphere shot at your target, like I'm just hitting with a spear chill? xD
    But other than that, it's an interresting game so idk...
    Second concern, in wow its feels quite easy, you got a pnj, you take his quest go fullfill it, you clear the area of it's quests thant go to the next, in ffxiv you have chain quest that seems to never end since they always points you at another quest thus I feel like I'm never 100% clearing an area before being thrown to the next.

It's a term I coined, the best way to describe it is when playing WoW the spells you cast are more snappy, there's no 2.5 second gcd, and the sound effects help too. Where as with FFXIV, combat is slower, and not all spells have that snap that WoW does. It's very hard to explain, it's just something I felt.

      I have, embarrassingly, over 1k hours in ESO and I honestly don't even want to know how many hours in WoW. That said, ESO has a lot of great player friendly systems and overall great things about it. I would have to give WoW the edge though because of a few things. In ESO, my character never really feels different from level 10 to the max level even. The gear you get doesn't really have an impact, so many of the sets are the nearly same except for a 5 piece bonus, and even those are negligible differences between one another. I can start a new ESO character and have, let's say, 16k health. At the level cap, that same character can have 16.5k health and just not feel much stronger. All the mobs throughout the game scale with you so it just doesn't feel like anything changes. It's kind of disappointing.

    Before I start this off, I play FFXIV religiously and I haven't played wow since the first few months of Dragonflight. I do ultimate/savage/EX, I do completionism content (Grinding Pteranodon now, only 2 more DoL) and currently am just focusing on getting as much as I can done in FF. I'm top 500 for mounts in FF, and in WoW I did the same content. I've experienced both games in their fullest imo so I feel like I have an informed take on this.
    WoW definitely has more content to do. You state things that there isn't much side content to do but there is. A large amount of it. WoW has pet battles, rep grinds, achievements, mounts and transmog, questing, unlocking toys, professions, archeology. And that's just things that are not expansion locked and are very broad. This doesn't include system in every expansion that they have had that are their own self controlled systems. Horrific visions, torghast, argus, void elves, garrisons, the list goes on. Mechagon and Timeless isles are also big draws. Its just factually wrong to say that there isn't as much to do in WoW then there is in FF. Go do every quest in FF vs every quest in wow while reading text and going through RP. You will easily topple over the amount of time it takes to do that in FF. There is more content and systems to do, and in turn you have timewalking which also brings back old content and on top of that M+ brings back old dungeons every season. I'm extremely confused where you got this take. Casual gamers thrive in WoW, FF its only just venues and that's it because the amount of content you have in FF post MSQ is horrendously small and a one time thing, and on top of that the grinds that are actually in the game are ginormous and impossible to grind as a casual or even a midcore player.
    Gameplay wise, WoW has FF beat by a long shot. The 2 minute burst window feels awful to play, homogenization really kills uniqueness and in reality almost every class is extremely bland and samey so the only thing that really makes the game feel fun is the fight design. Fight design, FF beats wow and will never lose. The fights are phenomenally crafted pieces of content and feel amazing to do. The gameplay of FF however feels horrendous to play. The fact that the 2 minute window is so heavy on top of the horrible net code and everything being tied to party buffs (Biggest mistake in the game right now), it just feels awful. WoW on the other hand is different. The GCD speed isn't really the issue in FF as the fact of the gameplay is tied around 2 min party buff and commitment to keeping that standard. In WoW, there are very very few party buffs. This helps classes have more flexibility and ability to flow your combat better. You can save gauge for a burst, delay a stack of something for a mech and not have to worry that your DNC popped tech to early or your NIN popped mug too late. These things are out of your control and the agency of your own DPS and ability to hit big numbers is determined mainly by your own skill and not arbitrary cooldown timers locking you into a specific time to burst.
    Something you brought up was Alts. In FF, its the most unfriendly alt game ever. Let me explain:
    In FF, all your classes can be played on one character. That's great on paper. If you don't raid, this will never be an issue but for a raider its one of the worst things in existence. In FF, you are tome locked to 450 a week. You are also locked to only one lockout of raiding per week. When a new raid tier drops, the only way to upgrade gear is through buying them with tomes or raid gear. Meaning you have to commit to one role for the raid tier until you get that BiS and if you want to switch 4-5 weeks into your prog its impossible or your gear is just lower and its like week 1 prog where you get demolished by AoEs without extra crazy padding. On top of that you have to be top top performing to hit the DPS checks if it is a DPS and everything needs to be 10x more precise. Having only two gear sets and both being locked weekly to one character fucks up the ability to play all classes on one character. Yes, you can play them technically but realistically you won't be able to. And then if you want to make an alt character and get that ready? Either spend money on skips or get ready to do all the content you just did, things that already take 10x longer then WoW's leveling, just to get to the point where you can raid twice a week which, again, will lock you into one role. On top of that, gearing is fucking horrendous in FF. It takes 8 weeks for a weapon? 4 for a helmet and gloves? At maximum it could take me 17 weeks to get all my gear leveled up and ready. And the problem is there is no alternative so you either get gear or you don't get any at all.
    In WoW, you get 2-4 specs per class, sometimes multiple roles. Each class has their own character and you need to level up and do certain content with them respectively. Thankfully they have fixed things over time but realistically it does take longer cause you have to do certain content. Mind you, its a lot easier. The best part about this is that I can play a different role, get gear for another spec, or hop classes to play something else without feeling hindered due to gear. I can play multiple classes and roles due to the character lockouts not being stuck on one character. Leveling an alt is no where near as time consuming and with buff events it takes maybe 10 hours to get to level 60.
    Accessibility wise I see what you mean but you are coming at it from a casual perspective and people who are busy. You don't need any plugins for WoW raiding. Its the same thing with FF, you can install ACT and Cactbot and itll help but in reality you don't need it. Same with DBM and details in WoW. Hell I did all of VotC and Castle Nathria (On Heroic) without it. On top of that, just as there are guides for FF endgame content there is for WoW. If you are doing the content and not doing it blind, you should be looking at these guides in both games. Unless you have friends helping you out, this is how it should go.
    Long story short, I think this is very biased against WoW and it seems really misinformed. Idk if that was because of the amount of time you put into WoW vs. FF, but I do think its still very misinformed.
    Edit: Something I saw in the comments I want to make clear too. FF's community is just as bad if not worse then WoW's community. Toxic elitism exists in both games, and toxic casualism exists in both games. The difference is the RP community in FF has flourished due to housing and venues, and due to that people have come and ruined everything the community has during positivity. I can go into detail if people want, but the scum of the earth play FF. I would rather get called a racial slur and get kicked then have to deal with stalking, harassment, pedophilia, extortion, doxxing, etc.

      Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the feedback, I actually probably have triple the hours in WoW when compared to FF. In regards to content, I'm purely talking about relevant content. You're right about things like pet battles, but in my opinion WoW has issues with replacing content rather than building on it. Like, if Euruka and Bozja went away in FF, similar to things like torghast and Islands. They've done a much better job now, which is great, but I still think FF does a better job thus having more content for players to do. I agree whole heartedly that WoW has better combat and gameplay. In terms of alts, I've actually changed my opinion. Dragonflight has been great for alts so far, but with FF in terms of raiding at least, alts need attention. In terms of toxicity, I personally cannot speak for that. My experience with the community has been very positive when compared to WoW's. I don't do RP, so I cannot speak for that at all. I'll take your word for it, you seem very passionate about the game! Again, thank you for watching and engaging!

      i actually agreed with most of your comment here until this "FF's community is just as bad if not worse then WoW's community" This is simply not true. FFXIV's community is far better than wow. If you're strictly referring to savage/ultimate raiding, i would agree with you. However, WOW's community, in my own personal experience, offer little to no support for new players. In fact, a new player is often seen as a hindrance, even when just doing leveling dungeons. Because alts exist in wow, the leveling experience is awful for new players as most people leveling are alts and trying to speedrun their way to 70. They don't want to give the time to a new player who is slowing them down. When i leveled a new character in wow, i straight up avoided dungeons. I tried to play a healer, players were extremely toxic and tanks consistently ran at mach 10 through the dungeon, pulling every possible mob while i struggled to keep up. The shittiest thing? I felt useless and like a hindrance. The tanks didn't even need me anyway and could finish the dungeon without healing due to the ridiculous stat advantage heirlooms give. I love alot of things about wow, but the community and leveling experience is the worst i have ever seen in an MMO.

    i agree with a lot of your points but i think it's a bit silly to say FFXIV is more alt-friendly when the game is basically designed for you to not *have* any alts, as far as i understand. if people actually want to have multiple different characters, that's a downside for them. that's the opposite of alt-friendly, in fact.

      Yes and no.
      You are free to make alt characters, have several of them, and some loot you buy will be granted to all your alts.
      The main reason people make alts in FFXIV is to be a different gender or race, or to play with friends on other servers. However now you can travel between servers, so the latter is a bit obsolete.

      If you have played dragonflight, you would know that it does not take very long to catch-up and jump into content. Especially this season (bullion, crests, vault, etc.) you can be caught up for the highest level of content within like 2-4 weeks of pretty tame and casual play. You absolutely don't need to spend time playing the game more than an hour or two a day in order to gear and enjoy alts.
      I noticed you play classic, which ironically, is the worst option out of the three (FF, retail, classic) when it comes to time sinks and systems. Like, you complain that systems are not modern yet play classic--that is all that I need to know.
      As mentioned above, FF has it's own faults with gearing and timesinks. It's in the nature of MMOs.

Several avenues to lvl (dungeon, pvp, fates, tribal quest, wonderous tails, deep dungeons) also I disagree with more end content while WoW has more content per expansion it's old raids are completely obsolete and solo content in WoW in FFXIV you can turn echo off and unsync and do the raid close to it was on release day even if it's years old. So even raids in ARR can be challenging even if you start today

    the main WOW is now encompassing ALL those expansions.. you can PLAY SOOOOO MANY DIFFERENT dungeons EVEN at higher level, I do that ALL the time, and you can make them HEROIC..
    ALSO, I play through the main quest lines/ main dungeons AS IM LEVELing in new WOW.. and when alls said and done.. THERE IS SOOO MANY MORE dungeons/ QUESTS than FFIXV.
    I think WoW has 2x to 3 x the QUEST LINES ( main) AND dungeons. I had MANY alts( like 100+) BUT 20-30 of those had 1,000 Days played or 500 Days played.. that is WAYY more than FFXIV possible in STORY other than just STRAIGHT grinding, I did mostly all quests/ MAIN quests/ DUNGEONS/bosses.
    I think FFXIV is trying to be the NEW age wow(not as good) so people trying to MINUS EVERYTHING about wow.. NO DOG... Wow is LONGER.. FFXIV is BETTER but SHORTER main dungeons/story ( it is LONG TOO but not like the 20 year old 2,000+ DUNGEONS?).

    World of Warcraft story is superior especially in dragonflight and dragonflight is built for new players since it operates as a reboot. And FF14 doesn’t even come close to World of Warcraft on all categories.
    Also, World of Warcraft do have solo activities you just lie about it on this video and not trying to do some investigative reporting when the game does have solo activities for those who doesn’t want to be apart of the main pillars and also casuals can do LFR and to think that LFR is nothing when it’s a option. Also, to say Addons is a requirement is a total lie beyond believe due to the fact that these things are made up by the community and not by blizzard themselves.

      @@TheRipperJack I played WoW from the end of TBC till 6.1 (firsr patch of WoD). Almost gor Rhealm first in ICC and Firelands. I put time in the game. And I can say that the current state of the game is nowhere near as good as FF14. Since I sold my old Blizz account, got an account from a friend for a few weeks.
      I can say without a doubt thag Dragonflight is an attempt to turn the game to the better, and it fails.
      The story is another safe-pick (like Legion) so they won't fuck shit up. It's boring, the storytelling sucks, the characters are also meh. The only redeeming part is the murlock timeline, which is funny. Yes, the game isn't made for storytelling but then don't try to flextape it in.
      Meanwhile FF14 has better story (overall(and current expac is the 2nd best)) better characters, storytelling is amazing. There's nothing wrong with that.
      Solo activities in WoW are... horrible. There's barelly any. Notable ones are the Darkmoon Faire and... that's it.
      In FF14, you have The Saucer, your own island, Wondorous tails, Palace of the Death and Heaven on High solo runs and the list can go on.
      (I'm not mentioning old raids and mount/mog farming since both games have them)
      And yes, without AddOns like DB or KillAuras your raiding experience will be hindered. There were plenty of occasions when certains AddOns were requiered to even being accepted to a Guild. The game doesn't force you to have them, the players do.
      I play FF14 for a year now and I can say that it's superior in every way compared to WoW. AddOns are straight up banned, no PTR (I find it good), etc. Scripe from ECHO made a good list how WoW could be better. Most of the suggestion were from FF14. I recommend you to check it out.
