First class transcription and tab! Still gonna take a lifetime, maybe longer, to work out all the parts. Kenny Burrell is all that.
Hi Skagit Roofing LLC!!!
Totally agree. One of the best to ever do it and, in terms of feel... I don't know that there was anyone better!! Definitely one of the smoothest guitar players to have ever existed... :D
-Matt
Veramente ottimo. 🎶
To me this solo is an example of how you don't really need to play typical bebop playing to have a good Jazz solo. Only some of this I could apply to the original version which I am going to be playing with a band. Heck, this solo is easier to remember than most more bebop based solos and I wish I heard this type of soloing more in Jazz. Some modern metal has soloing like this over some Jazzy chord progressions too. Heck, you don't even need to stick to one position of a guitar too. I love how this solo has some string skipping which is fun to play too. It's funny how the solo section has some chord changes that make it sound like not even the same song. For sure some people would say the blues scale used here isn't Jazz, but me and my current small Jazz band leader are more open minded than that.
This channels the best always provides me with tasty licks to learn

Hi Brian!!
Isn't it the best? Kenny is so classic. That blues influence in his playing making listening to him addictive.

@@LetsTranscribe Yes it is/ His tone, attack, timing and articulation is masterful. Very dynamic playing in the solo. He also knew how to make certain notes pop when he wanted to make them stand out for the dynamics..True master. Every guitarist from metal heads to country guys need to at least look at these jazz greats..
@@Brian-gz8xt Hi Brian!! Definitely - all those guys could learn from the jazz greats. When Pat Metheny talked about why he chose jazz over metal and other genres, he said "It just seemed so much heavier than what the metal guys we're doing."
It's funny because, at first glance, genres like rock and metal seem more intense. But what Pat wisely noticed (and at a young age) was the intense concentration, skill, and practice it took for the jazz legends to perform the way they do.
I know exactly what you mean about Kenny. His lines are just phenomenal. We just posted a version of "'Round Midnight" that he performed. You an always tell the guys that have the best lines when they play more down tempo tunes - there's so much space to fill at those slower tempos, you know? It takes really good lines to keep the listener engaged and to make those songs really sound great.
His dynamics, articulation, note choices, phrasing... Kenny has everything on point.
Glad you enjoyed this one, buddy!! :D
