I had a problem with a Von Haus trimmer that had seized and wouldn't turn. I looked online for help and found this site. As I watched the video I realised that all strimmers worked on a similar principle and that the instructions to take it apart were very clearly expressed and visually displayed. As such, I felt confident to take my strimmer apart and managed to get it working again. That solved my problem and saved me money. A big Thank You for a very professional and helpful tutorial.
Left my trimmer outside under the carport underneath a tarp.It runs fine but blades rusted and won't turn.1st thought was to replace blades but will try the steps you covered in this excellent video. A million thanks, young man.
Hi, I've got the same hedge trimmer as in your video. I've followed the instructions, everything works fine up to the point when you suggest pulling the trigger to see if it works without the blades (9 mins 10 secs). Mine does not (but when the blade is attached I do get the noise that sounds like it's trying to work but cannot). What should I do to resolve the issue once I've reached this point? Thanks
Thanks 👍 I got a mountfeild MHJ 24 24 HEGE cutter with the same problem but mine is two stroke if the drive shaft does not go around wot do I do next to fix it mate Dave thanks for your help
My trimmer was working fine! Hit a branch that was to thick, now it doesn't trim anything though the blades are moving. Maybe they aren't opening far enough? I didn't notice any obstructions.
Please could anyone explain to me why my battery op. Spear and Jackson hedge trimmer does not cut even a little twig, now its been thoroughly cleaned and oiled?
Respect! But I do feel a little aggrieved. Three things? One, clear any debris. Easily done. Two, see if there are any bent blades. OK, that's simple. Three, STRIP DOWN YOUR HEDGE TRIMMER, REPLACE ANY PARTS AND REASSEMBLE IT. Yikes!!
I know it can seem intimidating but most trimmers aren't any more complex than this one so if it comes down to it then you should easily be able to do it by watching this vid.

I hope this works for you!
OMG. This fixed my hedge trimmer that I was about to take to the local DeWalt service center. UA-cam for the win!
Very helpful video; thanks. What do you suggest for cleaning of gummed up trimmer blades as with tree or plant "sap"?
Brilliant video thank you very much, can you please recommend the grease you use on the edge trimmer.
Thank you. I would just recommend a good grease for high speed and high temp.
Thanks for making it sound so easy! I have *almost* built up the nerve to take mine apart now 👍
It is not difficult at all. Don't be nervous, you CAN do it!
Thank you! Very clearly presented and very helpful. Well done!
Highly informative, thanks
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thanks 👍 for your help big thumbs up Dave 🎉
Glad I could help out and thanks for watching!

That gearbox looks very different from the ones on my petrol hedgecutters, principles the same though. Strip mine down at least once a year!
Sounds like a good thing to do!

If the drive shaft won't turn then you have a bigger issue in the motor. It could be many things at this point.

I can see small branched stuck between the blades, How do you get them out? they are very small, is there a way to get them out....help?
Have you taken yours apart yet?
@@247parts no, Worx model and I put a fresh battery in and it was able to dislodge clog.
Brand new worked once. Tried again on day 2 , berrrrr
Mick I've striped a mountfeild MHJ 24 24 HEGE cutter but how do you get the clutch off its got to bolts in the middle matt😂
Hmmm that's a good question. Any takers?
Where can I find torque specs? I've heard over-torquing can freeze a hedget trimmer blade. Thank you.
I would go to STIHL’s website and download the manual for your trimmer.
How often should a hedge trimmer be regressed?
It is recommended after every 50 hours of use.
Please could anyone explain to me why my battery op. Spear and Jackson hedge trimmer does not cut even a little twig, now its been thoroughly cleaned and oiled?
Interesting. I will be following..
Do you have any branch near Ilford Essex pl let me know .
Good video, except you should have taken the battery out before you put it back together, an accident waiting to happen!!
What type of lube should be ised
I would say some kind of lithium grease for sure around the gears.

Are you a small engine mechanic?
Not technically, but I have been doing this for a month shy of 10 years now.
Thank you! Very clearly presented and very helpful. Well done!
