Hi, can you comment on strength/reliability of the older style units like this vs the newer km hl 145. And are they pretty much same inside to repair? Thks
Yes similar internals etc, the biggest difference is the new ones have a connected top bar running down the length of the blade which is prone to breaking, if you dont look after it. Olds one could take more of a beating. Both pretty good though if you look after your kit.
Hey mister RJL it's me again. Do you know if i can put the metal pieces back to the bearing if the metal on the ring itself is in good shape? I just bought a second hand hedge trimmer (old style) and everything looks clean and almost unused, but this tiny metal sticks are everywhere and clearly not in place. I think i'm going to try anyway because I think i have nothing to loose there if i don't turn the engine on :) I already got to putting it together but if i put all the sticks that fit they stop rolling, so i thoung maby remove just one to give alittle space? Thanks for your knowledge, have a nice week.
Once those needle bearings come apart that normally means they failed (lack of grease usually) A new connecting rod/bearings is your fix. Don't bother trying to bodge them back together 👍
@@RJLmachinery Are we talking about a single bearing breaking in half or just falling out? Because I just took my trimmer apart for the first time and it's well greased but the bearings kinda just fell out. I managed to find them all and put them back in but these little things are a bitch to handle. Once I put everything back together it should work ok then right?
excellent video, I just cleaned and sharpened my trimmer blade ( HL-KM 135 ) after watching your video. Great explanation thru out
That's great, cheers 👍
@@RJLmachinery Just subscribed as well
Really good video, thank you.
Cheers 👍
The better head on the Stihl great video
Cheers, Yep i prefer this head, the new ones too fragile 👍
Finally someone does a video on actually taking the blades apart. Well done bud!
@@adriantyzo5592 👍
Any idea where I could get a parts diagram for this trimmer?
Try l&s engineers or should be able to find it online somewhere
@@RJLmachinery Thanks for getting back to me, I'll give them a try
Very handy vid, thanks.
Nice one 👍
What is the Stihl replacement blade part number?
