Once you've played enough to realize that PvE is there only to complicated pvp fights, you'll resent it less. PVE in hunt including bosses shouldn't ever be a threat unless you're being shot at.
In terms of games I was super passionate about I went from R6:Siege to Hunt after switching to pc. 870 hours in now and it still is my absolute favorite extraction shooter and game in general

EDIT: cool video, as a person with 500+ hours on the game and friends who don't understand the game this is an awesome video to show people. EDIT2: 23:52, the hitboxes on the characters are actually super insanely precise and because your bullets don't have width (they are literally just pixel sized lasers with a delay depending on the distance) there are cases where you miss by an actual pixel, I've had an instance where I shot and missed through a guy's armpit (I slowed down the footage by a lot to see this). 24:03, while this is true like 50% of the time, the game goes on sale a LOT in different places (steam, crytek store, etc) and there are always creator codes that can give you further discounts when buying stuff from the skins to the actual game.
This game is amazing. The BIGGEST learning curve i have ever faced. Going from 2k hours in apex to this was hard af. Now with a little under 200 hours i can win nearly every gunfight. You got my sub just dont stop playing this. Please. Good ass video.
As a fellow long time Hunter with 2500+ hours on record, Hunt is worth the 40 USD and forever will. Yeah, there's many discounts if you're willing to wait but Hunt is 100% worth your 40 USD to begin with.
As a southerner, this game is remarkably accurate to the south, though the gameplay could be a bit more realistic, namely there aren't this many people shooting at once, there are typically more, perhaps more mountains depending on where you are.
This has been on my wishlist for ages, and this video is actually convincing me to play it. Now if only any of my friends actually liked playing fps games
Your username is intriguing to me. In my personal experience the venn diagram of my friends and acquaintances that like opossums and those that like hunt showdown is pretty much a circle. I have three friends who are independently very big fans of opossums and also play hunt a lot, so if that anecdote is anything to go by the game may well draw you in. On the topic of hunt itself, ive met plenty of nice people just by queueing with randoms whenever my friends can't play. Most folks in the bayou are quite happy to help out newcomers too, although it's best to have someone you know guide you through things. Once you get a hang of it, queueing as a solo against teams is actually a very rewarding style of play as well. If you do get the game and can't convince your friends to try it with you, I would be happy to give you a tour of the swamps! Either way, now is an excellent time to pick the game up due to the current in game event going on. Something of a hunt renaissance at the moment.
touching on hit detection, if it looks like it should hit on your screen it does 90% of the time. That being said it is client sided, so there are times where an enemy can hit you for that spilt second where you are in cover bot not on their screen or you killed them and they killed you. The trading window has been getting smaller compared to the past but it still is an issue. I still absolutely love the game and would recommend it.
I love Hunt. The shooting is super fun and the atmosphere is incredible. You could cut the tension in that game with a knife! Unfortunately, I just can't play it. I'm colorblind and have poor eyesight, and legit can't see other players most of the time, even when they're right in front of my face. But I wouldn't want to change that. The stealth is a big part of the game, and if there was an accessibility mode that made it a bit easier for me to see people, it would help people with normal vision even more and ruin the whole point. Love keeping up with it from the sidelines, though
My personal gripe with HS is that depending of the rng of player spawns and boss locations, you can spend 20 mins running around before you meet anyone. PvE is uninteresting (like you said) and PvP takes too much time to get to on average. The game has a lot going for it but it stopped being fun to me (after 700h, admittedly). That said, great video !
I love the moment to moment gameplay of Hunt but I just can't get into extraction shooters. Any kind of meta-economy that can give you a material advantage going into the next match for doing well in the last match, or conversely punish you mechanically for poor performance in a previous match, puts me off so hard.

Incredible vid to advertise ppl to try Hunt. The only thing I disagree is stealth - the closer you get to 6star lobbies the less ppl crouch and the more they jump non-stop. Ofc by that time in the game they know how to avoid noise traps even without Beastface but stealth is a very rare thing in high MMR which I think must be mentioned since there are FPS enjoyers from CoD and OW2 who are looking for pure spine-skill based action and not for bush-crouch simulator (hello, Tarkov)
so the reason i'm bad at this game is because I cant hit my shots, i'm bad at stealth, and I cant find players when they are hiding... yeah that checks out
I haven't played this game in probably a year or two but my highlight will always be killing 3 members of a squad with the world's slowest crossbow (it's all I had) by running loops in and around the house they were defending lol... I bet the people who play it now are far too cracked to allow me dumb plays like that
The slidy bullshit you're talking about is something that they have only somewhat addressed and I believe it's caused by server/client desync. It used to be way worse and would happen in normal places as well. They have really terrible servers and that seems to be the real cause behind it. Hopefully that will get addressed one day but who knows. Hopefully it gets somewhat better with the new Cryengine upgrade coming this year.

Literally the only reason why I refuse to even consider playing this game is because the crosshair is off-center and you cannot change it in the settings. My mind cannot comprehend why a group of dedicated developers would sink so many hours of their lives working on a game just to create an arbitrary obstacle that prevents some people from experiencing their game for absolutely no reason.

It's for two main reasons, first one is that human vision isn't centered like that (you can see more above the horizon than below, on average). It has a few other benefits, main one being you cant see the ground in front of your feet as easily, making it more difficult to spot traps and noisy trash + it keeps your weapon models lower and frees up more screen space. A few other indie shooters are taking this up as an option (Roboquest, Witchfire) and it's absolutely based, you'll get used to it.

I don't care if it frees up more screen space if it makes the game unplayable for me. I do understand that this option may be more convenient to some, and I truly have no problem with that - everyone should be allowed to play as they want. But forcibly limiting everyone to one choice that some think is better is ridiculous. The whole issue could have been prevented if the crosshair placement could be adjusted in the settings.
