I bought some alcohol markers like 2-3 years ago and haven't really used them mainly cause i dont know how to blend them but this makes me want to use them again!
Pro tip: don't use the colorless blender. Why they always call this thing a blender is beyond me. Its more of an eraser than a blender. Its used to lift the color from the paper, not to blend colors. But I'm sure you'll find lots of good tutorials on how to properly blend alcohol markers here on yt.
To use the blending marker correctly, touch it tip to tip to the color you want to blend to nothingness for 5 seconds and then color on the page until it runs clear. The tip of the marker will stain, but it won't mess up the blender. Try for longer or shorter periods of time to change the blending coloring time. Use scrap paper to scribble clean extra ink from the blender if needed.
oh yeahhh i have heard of that tip before! hurts me a little to stain the blender haha but hopefully that will help w blending. personally tho, i usually blend w different colors instead of blending into nothingness anyway, so gotta practice layering more too
@@mingostudio heh. If it is truly painful, just buy more blender pens and keep that one pristine. All alcohol markers are interchangeable, I just buy a 12 pack of blenders and blend away.
Thats only one method. Its not "THE correct method" though. Typically you're supposed to lay down the blending (just alcohol blend) on the paper then go in with your colors over top. But either that method or yours works. I personally never liked either and just lay down my colors first then go in with the blending marker overtop. I prefer that as its more similar to my workflow with digital art.
@@ravenoctober9936 Agree! Never just one "correct" way, but just one easy to explain way to get closer to the desired result. Once you find a method that works it is easier to try other methods or switch methods depending on the situation. I felt like a failure for so long because the alcohol blender marker never did what I expected. It helped me seek out more techniques specifically for markers instead of giving up on my desired result.
Wouldnt recommend it. The blender is really just an eraser. Its not meant for blending, since it lifts color from the paper. The tip to tip method can be used on regular markers with color.
I'm OBSESSED! I literally sell coloring sheet stickers and noted how well alcohol markers work on them but I never thought to use this in my bullet journal. This just gave me so many more ideas for spreads! Thank you!

Great video! I have been in love with alcohol markers long before getting into bullet journalling. It makes me mad that people say you can't use them in a bullet journal because as you have shown there is way to go around the bleeding. Idk if promarker are that different from the one you use in this video but with light colors I can apply one layer very carefully and it shows very minimal bleeding on 120gsm which is to me acceptable depending on what's on the back of the page and should be pretty good on 160gsm. (They don't show through at all on my aquarelle paper even when layering a lot) But I also rend to use them in collage, I don't have sticker paper yet but even normal or layout paper can be sticked to the page with glue.
Just an FYI: the colorless blender is not for blending. Its meant to lift the color from the paper, similar to an eraser. You can create pretty nice effects with it, but it can and will not blend your colors together.
yeah after months of using it post-video i have realized it works as an eraser haha. but also if you put it down first and then blend two colors on top, it does help mix colors together. idk it’s a funky marker fs lmaoo
I love outlining too because without it I am completely lost and don't know where to blend and where to create boundaries (since I am not good at art at all, I don't know if I make much sense ha ha ha)💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

super true yeah! sticker paper is most convenient for me haha but yeah you could use any paper and glue it in :)
