    Mr Latimer just wanted you to know that even though I am only at 13:43 into this video I wanted to stop and say something important. 2 things actually. I've seen some of your videos before but so far even though I'm not done this is some of the happiest footage I have seen of you having fun! Why your catching fish. This is my home waters since 1988. It's just great to see you have fun and get excited like that 6lb fish you caught early. Keep it up. Second because with you guys it's truly not normal to see you having footage of your co angler catching fish in these videos. To watch you treat him great and work together catching fish makes you a better man. Normally us co anglers are sometimes considered in the way by some professional anglers. It's your job we understand that but co anglers have dreams also as you did one time and pay their money too. I understand there are bad apples out there for you guys but we also are not the norm. So just really wanted to give you Big props for you being a good man and its been fun to see you happy catching fish. God bless and good luck in the Championship Mr Latimer!!

    Great video again Brian. I just ordered your signature 6'10" casting rod to replace the one I lost (not properly secured in my little Twin Troller X10 boat) as it shot off the side of my boat. I was scrambling to let my outboard down to quickly escape an out of control small sailboat that was heading right at me from behind and around a point as I was sitting in the water. I avoided the crash but lost a nice rod and baitcaster. I liked the baitcaster I had so much I ordered another one but I believe upgraded my rod to one of your models. 😎👍🏽🎣

    Brian, the anglers in these northern hemisphere places (assuming that South Carolina, Florida, Texas is approaching towards the 'equator' center line of the globe). What anglers in the northern hemisphere. The more north you go. The more that they talk. About one thing. What is that thing?

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      And it's often misdiagnosed. In fact. It is broadly. Mis-diagnosed. Mis-identified. And mis-understood. All of those things. Because anglers frequently 'add more weight' (i.e. 'select' a bait which weighs more). Because why? They believe in their own mind. I'm going 'down'. In the water column. Yeah. I add more weight. And that's what happens. Well. Not so much. What adding weight to something. And putting whatever that thing is. Into a water medium. What it does. For a kick of. Is it will alter the speed. At which that thing. Is able to move. You can observe it. That in the retrieve of some object. That is heavier. When it's in the water. It requires more effort. To drag the thing. Through the water. And on a lot of these waters. That have 'current' flow in them. These northern places. The reason you can automatically 'tell'. There is current. And quite savage amounts of it too. Is always the dead give away (look at the coastlines in the saltwater in the Carolina's or anywhere). Wherever you see. Exposed rock. And erosion (or even 'rock armour' placed by engineers to prevent or limit erosion). Which is really the river currents trying to change and alter. The bed of the river. At different times. Across a number of years. When you see that erosion. Instantly think of current.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      And when you begin to think of current (as in the example, of the 'small mouth bass' that was hooked and was intelligent enough, to know how to angle itself against the current). In such a way. As to make it really hard. For the angler. To play out that bass. Even if the bass. Was two pounds weight. It was able to fight. Like a fish. Double it's body mass. When you think about current. Think carefully. About weight. Of the bait lure. Not in terms of depth (if there is a current, the bait will be affected by the current just like the fish will, when you play it on the line). Even if it's a drop shot rig. With weight at the bottom. You'll struggle. To predict. Where that 'drop shot' rig. Wants to end up. In relation to where it is cast. As the current. Takes control. Of that weight. Often these fish. Only 'take' baits. When the bait is allowed. To be taken by the current. In a certain direction (it makes the fish feel as though they have agency, and choice over which item to take). And which item. Not to take. So retrieved bait lures. May not always. Be the right solution.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      What the weight. Of the bait mainly does. Is that it does not control depth. So much. As it controls 'speed'. Of movement. Of the bait. As it's carried in a certain direction. By the current. And often. It's a question. Of how much weight to add. How much weight. To dial down. Until you get to that precise place. Where the bait. Seems to the fish. From it's perspective. To be doing. What it should. In current conditions. What you'll rarely do. Is to find the bottom (until the bait is thrown into static water). And there are often pockets of static water. In water that has current. Water does odd things. What weight will do. Is hold the bait. In the strike zone. Long enough, and slow enough. That it can induce. The bass to attack that bait. Because it appears as though. To the bass. That the bait lure. Whatever it happens to be. Has it's own agency. And is trying to control it's swim direction. And it's depth too.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      On the second day. I would have searched in my boat. For something different. I think. Something like a lipless crank bait. Made out of lightweight metal. Of some kind. With a rattle or two. Inside of it perhaps. And I would have thrown it. Observed what the current was doing to that bait. Of a certain size, and weight. And see how it worked. Using some kind. Of slow retrieve. And induce a strike. From a bass. That way. I'd have changed the size. Of the lipless crank bait. A little bit. As different size crank baits. Might get dragged by the current. At different rates of speed (what you might find, is the way it works is that a larger crankbait gets dragged faster by the current). And a smaller crankbait. Gets dragged less. So a smaller crankbait. Of the right weight category. Might retrieve faster to the boat (and maybe that is the right kind of trigger). Or the other way around. The larger crankbait. Of the same type. Get's pulled off course more. In the retrieve. As the current acts on it more. And resembles more like a bait fish. Struggling and getting dragged in a direction. That could also. Provide the right. Kind of trigger.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      That's when. You're situated closer to rocky banks. However, when you're situated. In more open water. I think. I might do exactly the opposite. Instead of metal lipless crankbaits. I might go in the opposite direction. And look for wooden ones. And fish them even more slowly. With very delayed swim actions. To try and coax something. Up from the depths. Plastic baits of any kind though. Are notoriously hard. To operate in current. As plastic materials. Is weirdly buoyant. In the water medium. And I think. That it may not prove. In the current flows. To be realistic. Of how bait fish move. As good as the plastic bait lure. Might work in the still water. Further south. And in the warmer water. In the north. I would possess the capability. To significantly change the speed. Of movement of my bait lure (and the cadence). Because as you can imagine. That heavier bait lures. Won't respond well. To that quick 'swim, swim, swim' cadence. That plastic jerk baits etc. Are good at imitating. With the heavier lure. Chances as. You'll have to be less pro-active. In terms of the retrieve. And go for a different cadence. So the metal lipless crankbait. Or whatever it is. Starts to work. With a good action in the water.
