    Good video, but I have to speak about the sponsor. I have the CHIRP fish finder. I've had it for 3 or 4 years, and i use it A LOT. I bought it for my kayak, after trying to use an ice fishing flaker in my kayak, and dumping it in the lake. The CHIRP was cheaper than replacing my FL8, and it does SOOOOO much. I LOVE IT! It is is own wifi spot, so it works as far as you can cast it, instead of being limited by Bluetooth distance. It works on every phone and tablet I've tried it with. It records everything for playback later, including your position on the body of water. There is shore and boat fishing modes, narrow and wide beam, two different ice fishing modes, and I use mine for all of that. If I could post images here, I would. Good sponsor for a good video.
    Tight lines!

    Just wanna say falcon rods are pretty awesome! They're made in broken bow, oklahoma, which happens to be my home state and have been in business for nearly 40 years. I've used many of them and have never broken a single rod. And i often use them for catfish and have caught several 20-30lb cats on them. They're quality is a lot better than their price tag would suggest.

    Beetle spin is my go to for panfish. I like rooster tails but they tend to get snagged a lot when creek fishing. The beetle spin works just as good and tends to roll over sticks and rocks the rooster tail will snag.

  • @ChiefIguana
    @ChiefIguana Рік тому

    The rooster tail is actually pretty cool. It isn't supposed to mimic anything, at least for trout. It's supposed to aggravate them, to the point that they nail it as if it's a threat to their territory.

  • @turinturambar347
    @turinturambar347 Рік тому

    Rooster tail any day all day for creek fishing. Beetle spin may work better in other waters, but in creeks the rooster tail never fails to catch fish. It catches all species as well.
    But you can't finesse it. If you're trying to finesse it, you're using it wrong. It's just a straight cast and retrieve. The blade has to be continuously spinning. It works best in sunny conditions, as the sun reflects off the blade. It doesn't work as well in shaded waters or low light conditions, though you'll still catch fish.
    As for what it's supposed to be mimicking. Creek minnows and chubs often scrape their sides against the rocks or show their bellies to the sun and the sunlight reflects off bait fish. The blade kind of mimics that. Also....it's just a lure that can be seen from a long ways away. Sometimes all you have to do is give the fish something they can see and something that moves, and rooster tails are easy to see from a long way off when working right. This may not work well in pressured waters, but in creeks where the fish don't see a lot of fishermen, this works great.

    Roostertail and not the beetle spin but a mini strike King Colorado blade. Same size as a beetle spin but a spinner. I always year-round have those two tied on.

    Would love to see you with like a 6 ft light/ultralight casting #2 mepps or running a "simple" slip bobber setup. Either way I recommend like 15lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader I prefer 8lb I use a foot or so leader tied with a nice tiny barrel swivel and I used a speed clip on the lure side because sometimes as you know color is king. Fluorocarbon is the leader you need regardless buddy mono has other uses.

    You should do an uncut fishing type video where maybe you can read some comments or a Q&A type thing

    I grew up throwing both. Both caught fish but the Beetle Spin caught the bigger fish and more bass.

    I do a good bit of creek fishing and I would have started w that Beatle spin too however this time of year and in my area a orange and brown Beatle is probably the best, mostly. 😊

    I really like the penn fierce 3. It’s a really nice surf combo, really good for catfishing too.

    Watching this video gave me an idea for a new 1v1v1 comparison challenge for you. The most expensive baitcaster combo vs the most expensive spinning combo vs the most expensive spincast combo. Spin the wheel for who gets what combo, but each person gets to choose where they go to get the combo. Biggest fish gets to keep all 3 combos.
