Awesome video, I am the guy that caught the burrito. Nice chatting with yall man, looks like yall had a blast on Day 1. Glad to have found your channel, you have a new subscriber man. Keep it up, don’t let the negative interactions outshine the positive ones!
I gotta say I know how the feller feels. He didn’t ask his home to become a tourist destination. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin a good thing. I try my best to be super respectful of private property. When the internet turns folks peaceful ,quiet homes into riding areas you can understand them being upset. I do think you all handled it very well. If he had talked to the ones that did it may have turned out a lot worse. My wife and I love little bikes. Groms ,monkeys bikes like that. We have stopped going to small bore rally’s just because of how we have saw a lot of those groups act. That’s why we watch your channel. We like how respectful you are and how you talk to people. Thank you!! Keep it up!! God bless!!
Yep. This is one of the reasons I keep my stock exhaust on my adv bike so it stays as quiet as possible. If they don’t know I’m around they can’t chase me down and harrass me. Honestly hate the best driving roads are in rural country n ga. , the locals are not friendly to people from Atlanta at all and are quick to voice political views and make negative comments about Atlanta despite making lots of revenue from Atlanta. 👎. On multiple separate occasions in n ga small businesses I’ve overheard hatred about Atlanta. I know tons of adventure riders of all races in Atlanta. It will be interesting to see how this new bdr route goes with the locals…
I’m sure it will be fine. Most people I talked to are happy about it. Usually there is one loudmouth that can be a problem. I bet we will win them over with public service and cappuccinos. :)
Solid video, and arguably one of your more tense comment sections. Definitely only pet the small ones. All love being sent to you from California Brock.
Just started riding the FS roads up that way in the past year. Wish some of the auto drivers would cool it a bit coming around the blind corners. They are taking up the whole road and at the speeds they are running, there's no way they could stop if they meet something on the other side.
You and I were at TWoS at the same time. I walked out the door and thought "hey that looked like the MotoMission guy". But I didn't go back in 😞. Great video as always. I think I recognized at least a couple of those roads while out with the BMW group. Looking forward to your day 2 video. Now that I am subscribed I'll be among the first to watch!
I have got to get the old YZ400 together and running. I haven't ridden a bike since about 2003 and miss it. I bought the YZ off a friend who got it off a friend and it definitely needs work. The thing is in pieces and the engine is in a small storage tote in pieces. Got to love projects. Nice goal for the winter I guess.
I know exactly where you are there. Been riding these roads for over two decades. People are CONSTANTLY ripping it through here. Everyone needs to remember that these are ROADA NOT TRAILS. So many people constantly referring to these as trails give the idea that all the rules of the road go by the wayside. I was afraid that this BDR would cause a lot more traffic and a lot more scenarios just like this. That said, you handled it as well as anyone could. Well done.
Just think Brock in just 7 more days we get to continue the ride. You can ride along if you want. I solved the problem of deep holes I installed a 52 in front wheel on my recliner. I’ am ready to ride! Most adventure riders don’t cut new trails or ride around mail boxes on private property. We may create a little dust from time to time but that’s about it. There will always be people who abuse any sport. 7 more days!
The best and worst of humanity right here. Great ambassadors for the former. Would really like to see that swinging bridge before that is outlawed. Fun times.
How many miles are you getting from the mousse? I've heard many horror stories of failures using them for street use. 100% believe in them for the Idaho Challenges, (the Grit routes) and would love to use them for everything.
Unfortunately for the upset gentleman there is a fork in the route that is immediately in his perimeter, I can see a ton of guys staying to the left and immediately realizing their mistake and making a u turn, this is not a FS road but a public road thru private property, so for years what had been a quiet country lane overnight becomes a popular route for a multitude of motorcyclist many of which make a wrong turn, now ask yourself would you make a route thru your own neighborhood, I wouldn't, I reckon I would have a sign pointing out the correct path to avoid anymore close encounters, btw I had just gone by as this happened, I didn't make that mistake or it would have been me 😬
That hurricane just ended my plan to head to the mountains. I guess that I will just stay in Alabama and ride single track. Drop me a line if you would ever like to join us.
That is a bad sign for locals to be this fed up with riders on day 1. Many people live in the backcountry for the quiet and solitude, so it is understandable that they are not excited about being on a trending new route.
Great vid, looked like a blast! I have encountered people like the "hillbilly" a couple of times. Ran onto a big guy in overalls and no less than 5 Jack Russell terriers in Arkansas a few years ago that threatened to shoot a certain part of our anatomy off. We apologized for bothering him and quickly moved on like you did. Nothing good can come from trying to reason with them! Really enjoyed watching the vid! Great job!
@@MotoMission. Guys, as a native of these mountains, throwing the word "Hillbilly" around isn't going to win mountains folks over. Other than that love your channel and videos. Keep them coming
I get the argument of privacy and solitude. However, to my understanding, these are all public roads, not traversing private property at any point in time. Thus, the gentleman, although angry and feeling that he has some sort of ownership of public roads, appears to disregard the “public” in the road. Remaining friendly with angry local elderly makes sense, there’s no reason to escalate. There’s a line, though, and the manner in which you were addressed was absolutely uncalled for. To some degree, I hoped he’d “call the law”, they’d have informed him of the meaning of “public” roads.
Guys u gotta understand these folks have lived back in there a long time with total peace and quiet. The internet has thrown a ton of outsiders in there home. I have no doubt for that man to be that mad so Some did something disrespectful. If someone did donuts in your yard and threw there beer cans out of there side x side u wouldn’t be happy about it. If anything this should show gotta be respectful. These areas are peoples homes. We gotta be overly respectful and kind! If not we will be the ones mad and upset we have nowhere to ride.
Nice video. Good to see the positive comments about being respectful, keeping speeds reasonable, leaving no trace, staying on the roads, etc. We are all ambassadors for the sport.
Confrontation could have been handled better. Not "when did this happen". Say "Sorry to hear, that's awful. I'd be pissed too. We're super respectful of private property and stick to public roads. Sorry again, hope they get caught."
Came here hoping not to see any political statements since this has zero to do with politics….oh well maybe next videos comments will be about motorcycles and having fun!
Yeah. I don’t do politics. The channel is about escaping politics and experiencing the joy of adventure. Thanks for being on board with me. You are awesome
I enjoy when he stops and talks to the locals. We need to try to encourage the 1% to do better. Great episode!
Thank you

Iron Mountain is a VERY slippery place when it’s wet. Can’t wait to ride this but I think it’s gonna need some time to recover after Helene I think.
Oh. Did they get hit ? I haven’t seen an update

I hate to hear that. I see it often. It’s sketchy.
We were going to ride this starting Wednesday but with Helen passing through, think lots of trees down. Gonna ride the GOAT instead.
What is the GOAT?
Good question.
Another great video Brock!!
Big thanks
Absolutely agree ! you need power to save you from last second sketchy situations and a clutch, not a automatic transmission.
