I LOVED doing this, i feel so connected to this scale compared to western, glad i havent practiced too much with that one. But my throat hurts after which suprised me. Do you think this is my throat getting used to it or just bad technique 😂 thanks to anyone who may have an idea
It is really hard to say just from the comment, but if you usually don't experience your throat hurting then maybe the "stress" of a new melodic pattern is producing extra tension in the throat. Also no need to follow with the full range of my warmup if it feels uncomfortable to go too high or too low. Try to catch when the tension starts building up, so you can relax it, or take a short break instead of powering through it. Hope that helps 🧡
I agree, it feels like it's opening parts of my throat I do not use, and lifting my palate which i have not felt much when I sing. That resonates for me especially since my range is not very high, i am more contralto alto. This is very helpful! Thank u 💜
I will definitely be using this. This has opening my voice a lot more then training with the western scale, my palate is way more relaxed and my range is a lot higher when I sing like this. I wonder why that is. It’s like it flows so easily.
You're actually wrong, hijaz is 1 note different, it's got a major 7th where phrygian dominant, of course, has a dominant 7th. In western music theory, that scale (Hijaz) is called as Double Harmonic Major. It's also known as the Gypsy Scale where I have been and also by many other names from the Byzantine Scale to the Symmetrical Scale. In it's home country and time (ancient India) its called as Raga Bhairav. Or Bhairavi. You're so welcome ❤ 🙏 It's also one of the modes of the Hungarian Minor Scale.
You are right .I am A turkish sax player.this scale is very easy for me Cause i heard a lot for years.Try Turkish music for progress. That will be easier

@oberon2534No, actually this scale and its modes was present in the Balkans since Byzantium Empire, and it was spread across the empire where every country adapted in its own way
@@mortdekala3206 your both wrong. That scale is called Hijaz or Double Harmonic Major (or as the Byzantine Scale) which is NOT the same scale as phrygian dominant. Wake up. ❤
Thank you! Probably you saw it, but just in case, there are two more warm-up videos on the channel. For the future I'm planning another month of singing challenge starting middle of March, maybe it will be interesting for you to join.

@@JelenaSoro well I didn’t make the beat it’s actually a Latin type beat but the vocals I wrote over it have a section where this scale sounds good over it so I needed to practice hitting the right notes on the up and down ( sorry I don’t know any of the proper terminology 🥲)
that was actually great as a beginner vocal. I am from Turkey and I got the Balkan mention. Thanks a lot.

So happy to hear this!
Thanks a ton for this, I'm learning how to sing in Hijaz (the Arab approximate to Phrygian Dominant) and this is super helpful
Beautiful! Makams sound so enchanting.

So happy to hear that! 🙏
This must be very natural for arabic, as a western I struggle a lot.
Just take it slow, ear needs time to get use to new scales. Work on it with curiosity and playfulness and it will just surprise you one day 🥰

this is natural to me, Indians scales are impossible for me

so fun, my friend is from montenegro and i’ve recently discovered that the balkans use this scale!

I'm Jewish and this sounds like the scales we use too!
Its very very similar if not the same one. I think they use Hijaz too, or Double Harmonic Major.
Great content!! Loved it. I just wish it was available for saving into play list so I so I can use it later too.
Thank you! You can save it to a playlist, there are no restrictions on my part.

Wtf??
Kako je komsijama? 😂 Ne smeta im buka? Ne vole sve komsije da cuju buku ili glasnu muziku, sviranje instrumenata itd... mislim. 😅🤷♂️
Pa vi onda nemojte pustati glasno video i nema problema.
Prolly the weirdest reason someones followed along to this I need to get this scale down for a verse on a trap beat 😂😂
