I sobbed like a baby watching this film - I loved it so much. The animation, the celebration of Aztec and Mayan culture and imagery, and the family dynamics and characters are so beautifully drawn. It’s heartbreaking one moment, celebratory the next. Thanks for sharing your authentic emotional reaction with all of us.

My reaction was pretty much like yours Luke 😅 This movie unexpectedly hit me SO hard, existential crisis, family aspects, etc... I love Pixar but initially I watched it because of Gael Garcia Bernal and in the end it became one of my favorite movies ever 💜
Not everyone figures out Hector is the real great great grandfather, but you did almost as soon as you saw him. This movie is great to watch reactions to whether people figure it out or not, because either way it’s usually emotional when they start singing Remember Me. It’s a great movie.
It is kind of wild what music can do for memory. I remember years back hearing an NPR story about how playing songs from an old person's younger years can help them think clearer or something like that. So when we were playing cards with my grandma and she was getting very spacey (her dementia was only beginning), I played "Jeeper's Creepers" in one of its oldest versions and she immediately started singing/bopping along. It was crazy! She could suddenly focus and follow the game perfectly. I kept playing more songs from the 40s/50s. She had been getting kind of frustrated and quiet but it was like she had suddenly awoken and was a younger version of herself. It's years later now and her dementia has completely taken over but when I go to visit in October, I'll try the music thing again. I doubt it will do magic again but maybe it'll bring back a piece of her, if only for a little while. The movie makes me sob for obvious reasons.

like I think 200-300 years to be forgotten, I heard someone say, feels bad seeing that
great voice at 10, think was 9 when audition but he got rejected first
hehe talking about the dead and such, was listening to a podcast talking about a stealie from like 600 bc or such and had instructions on how to leave food for him and so on...and just imagining the spirit still hanging around waiting for stuff to be left for him thousands of eyars later.
I was in the cinema with my nephew when the movie came out, he was 8 years old. We've watched the movie, I've cried so hard and he was bored and thought I was crazy 😬😅
Beautiful reaction man. First time watching you, I've watched many of Coco and not many have held it together, including myself. I'll check out some more for sure!
