I just change mine once a year. Its about $40 for both and hardly a major expense for something that helps me breathe clean air and keeps my engine running smoothly. I think the local shops here charge $80+ to do this for me which is silly considering how easy they are to change. Another thing that often gets neglected are spark plugs.
You just wash the cabin air filter in the sink with dish soap and wait 3 days for it to dry. Do this every 100,000 miles and never buy another cabin air filter. Wash and rinse it 3 times with hot water. That's what I do.
@@parkerbohnn . I have the feeling that degrading the materials of the filter with water and soap probably isn't a good idea just to save $40. I'd rather not eat out twice per year to save the money for the new filters.
I change my filters every year, and Cabin Filter, my engine Air Filter, has two for my Genesis G90 Htrac 5.0 Ultimate, which is a V8. Change my oil with full synthetic oil every 5k miles, and the car runs like its brand new. I definitely changed them together.
With most cars I've had, I could replace the cabin filter with a section cut from a 1" furnace filter. That allowed me to inexpensively change the filter often. I just had to make sure it was in there securely and wouldn't go rogue and flop into the blower fan. There's no trick like that for the engine air filter. I know I need to get one that's high quality, and not let it get too dirty. Some people think the K&N washable kind is good, but I've seen tests where they end up letting quite a bit more dirt into the engine than a standard filter.
kind of a hack job, but sure. howd you keep it square? rock auto has cheap filters for like $2-3.. i don't think i'd mess with this method, probably bypasses like crazy
I took my car for oil change only and they put a Ecogard filter a serpentine belt and replaced n removed alternator drive belt??? I don't know why because I wasn't having any car problems just wanted an oil change on my car.. Please help me understand what happened. Please respond. Ty OG
I’d rather change Both Filters once a Year. I have A 2015 MAZDA 6 with 61,400 miles on it. I’m planning on DRIVING IT INTO THE GROUND…. Meaning, it needs to last another 10-12 years. No Car is better than a PAID OFF CAR… I refuse to have Car Payments Ever Ever Again….. I WILL PAMPER THIS CAR AND MAKE IT LAST…
u dont change engine and carbin filter together, BRO ... u dont know what you saying... ENGINE filter can last up to 25k ... .. carbin filter is shorter... u need to know this man
Engine filter lasts at least 30k, and it doesn't cost you fuel when its partially restricted. Does this mechanic know what an oxygen sensor and fuel injection system does? It injects LESS FUEL when it gets less air flow. Plus they purposely make the filter big enough so you can block 70% of it and the car still runs fine.
They've done filter testing with published reports on how a restricted air filter does nothing to fuel economy. I can find and link you the report if you're too lazy to look for it
You might lose a few horsepower at wide open throttle but will not cost money and will not damage engine. A semi dirty filter actually filters better than a new one also, look up air filter caking. So changing too much is actually a waste of money and makes your engine wear out quicker. Not to mention more chances of pinching a seal during needless filter changes and letting unfiltered air threw. You should really focus on installing a filter with a 99% and higher filtering efficiency like wix or mahle filters and just leave it in for 30k, rather than installing cheap 97% filters and changing too often

@@MrSupernova111 true. I do wonder though if you might be able to get away with it once or twice. Depending on the quality of the filter itself

Cool
If I can do it, anyone can do it. Just changed Both Air Filters and saved a Bunch of $$$…
Thank you 🎉
You rock brother, that was a world of info, now I know why my gas consumption is so high. I'm grateful brother, thank you 🙏🏽
Yup welcome

No clue why they did that!! Did u pay for it?
And who knows if they actually replaced those belts, or just said they did? I'd call whatever local or state authority deals with repair shops.
I have mazda cx5 and I changed the engine air filter at 40k miles
Gotta change every 15k miles
10k
I change mine every 5 k miles . I know it’s over kill but peace of mind for me plus not expensive. Change oil change filters simple as that
Oh yeah very early but nothing expencive
Thxs
Welcome
No reason not to do both of them every 10k and do it yourself. 40$ and keeps critical systems in the car running tip top.
Yup
km or miles?

Yes my friend has 2007 Mazda 3 he still running it
Good to know that a Mazda will go hopefully 250K miles with maintenance:).
Thanks 😊

Cabin filter I personally do once a year at the end of pollen season which in my part of the country is end of june
I put about 300 miles a year on a car so for me that's about 100 years an engine filter will last.
