@@FreeBeat Yep! So far making a bunch of patches (which means taking photos in this case, lol) and futsing around. It's very fun and easy to understand and yet there's a lot to explore within its range, sonically speaking. Also very much appreciate its small size for I have little desktop space to spare

Yeah man, I think the Model D sounds fantastic, and I didn't realize it before but the NTS-1 is a good effects processor. I'm sort of in the same boat you were back then. I just got into synths a couple years ago. Previously Sludge metal, guitars and bass. When the Volcas first came out it was really intriguing, a tiny analog synth for $150. I picked up a Keys and then like a year later the dropped the Sample and I grabbed one. Then they sat collecting dust for a few years and I sold them. Now, 8 years later i slipped back into this world and bought an Akai MPK mini play and a looper pedal, then a few months go by and I got the Volca sample2, then a Behringer VS mini, then a Crave, now I'm looking at an Edge and I'm right back to GAS. Anyway, good stuff here fren. What did you end up getting? A Mavis?

I did the same thing yesterday with my Volca Keys and the NTS-1. Playing around with the effects and trying them out on different sequence patterns. The NTS-1 really makes a big difference. It was hard to quit. 😁

    Hi!
I like to put my SQ-1 sending CV to the Filter cutoff while playing, so a small CV sequencer could be an interesting and relatively inexpensive addition. I wouldn't go all the way to Eurorack modular: before we can start making anything, we need to invest on a case and a good power supply, so it does have some initial costs before we start ripping the benefits of having a modular system.
    Cheers!

Wow. This was one o& those videos that I couldn’t watch to the end as I was desperate to get my hands on the hardware- and it both persuaded me to keep my Model D and removed any regrets I had after buying the NTS-1. Had riffer running into the D into the NTS-1 into AUM for some more fx, and boy did it enliven a dull Sunday. Subbed.

The model D sounded great with the NTS-1!! It's a shame that they are not producing new ones anymore :(
The only modular synth I know that is around 100 usd is the Bastl Kastle v1.5. You can send and receive CV with a 3.5mm cable and an adapter.

That synth can make a whole album, but multi sampling of such sounds like yours here is advised, since it’s only a mono synth. Poly chain would be expensive. Still, one can program simple chords only with one unit. Percussions, fm synthesis, instruments of various kinds, sound effects...is what this synth does.

Dreadbox Chromatic series, 2hp, pre-made diy modules on reverb, Nifty Case nifty bundle (if you’re planning on getting some budget eurorack modules and need a full case, this is the starter kit). Behringer has some new budget eurorack modules as well. This is my personal plan for getting into eurorack myself. Well, full eurorack...some effects models in like a 4ms pod and build a eurorack synthFX box to pair with either my Boutiques, Volcas or PO’s to start

The Model D sounds really good. Some of the timbres remind me of the synth-pop duo "The Knife". Great band, btw. I just got the Moog Werkstatt last week. I now have 3 other mono synths that I am going to sell because the sound of the Moog is so damn good. A word of unsolicited advice, Mr. Free Beat: Get it right away. Moog is only selling them for a limited time (my guess is that means they had a certain number made). It is top-notch. If you were going to spend $100, just double that and get the Moog and wait on the microphone for next time. It's the best sounding mono synth I have had so far, and I used to have an SH-101. Also, an idea for a future episode- Use the same setup, but this time use the sequencer or arp.

You might want to use your drumming skills on a drum machine and then play the synths to that. Many people use repetitive drum patterns but, as a drummer, you don't. 50bpm maybe with flanger synth ? The sense of rythmn could increase the number of viewers. Just an idea. Good vids, keep em'up cheers
