I must say, as being an LGV1 driver myself for 49 years - that, that was not a good overtake by the lorry. He overtook on an approach to a left-hand bend, encroached on the opposite side of the road with an on-coming car, and did not give enough room to the cyclist. That was a concoction mixed by the lorry driver - for a potential fatal accident. I dare say that when this video is viewed by either a current serving traffic police officer, or retired officer, they will come to the same conclusion.
If you read the video description you'll see the police did take action. Though after police were allowed to weaken enforcement with the option of a fixed penalty of 3 points and a fine, instead of a careless driving charge with 5 to 12 points. Following that police were allowed to offer a zero points option that means a driver pays for a driver improvement course instead, police have always taken the most lenient approach possible. This driver was offered a course, or 3 points, or a visit to court.
For those who say "He's riding too far out", well he's riding in the position recommended by the Highway Code, shown clearly in a diagram. And you can see why the HC recommends you ride a decent distance from the kerb - he moves into that space to avoid the truck, and if he hadn't had it one lump in the road would have got him killed.
It's not always about the highway code. It is mainly a guide book. As a cyclist, you can make it safer for vehicles to pass, by moving over. We all have a responsibility for health and safety. Yeah the HGV tried to give the cyclist space, but it's hard to over take with something so large like this. Cyclists should have to follow rules like following tractors. If you are blocking the flow of traffic, you should pull over to let other road users pass
@@gary63693 If you fail to abide by the HC, especially when the cyclists behaviour is exactly correct, you will find it is more than a guide book when the NIP arrives in the post. The HC tells us how to behave on the roads. If we fail to do as it says then that is driving without due consideration. It's not a guide book, it sets out what is required.
Why would he admit to careless driving then when the police sent him a notice of intended prosecution? He shat himself and rejected the over to defend his cuntish driving in court 🤔🤣🤣
@@TheVexatiousLitigant Don't get me wrong I've spend hundreads and hundreads of hrs ridding on Polish then UK's roads and I've seen a lot, but this is just baby crying ....
