All your tips are good, putting the fan along with AC is not at all advisible.... What ever may be the speed you set, Fan will trigger the dust particles and your AC will suck that into the evaporator coil and ruin your AC. That could be one of the reason you are supposed to clean the filter twice a week. For me i used to wash the filter , once in a month. Water service usually every year depends on how the Air is flowing from the AC.
