The most beautiful explorer I've ever seen. It's almost impossible to find one nowadays but I've hope to find one in good conditions. I am owner of one of the halcyon lp and it is the best guitar I own.

For me, those have the perfect controls configuration for an Explorer. I have never played one, but I would love to have one. Beautiful guitar.

+Anthony Norton I've looked around and can't see these for sale anymore it really is a pity as it ticks all the boxes ;0)

256daddycool I agree. These were only made for one year. It should be a regular production Signature model. It is the perfect setup, for the way I would play it. It's beautiful to look at, it sounds great, the control layout is perfect. I have to agree with you that it "ticks all the boxes". You could probably find a used one on Reverb.

***** I was tempted there Terry!! The pups are great and the solid non chambered body does its stuff - it must be about 10lbs ;0)

Love the Golden Axe, shame about Gibson losing Bill K. Great video, great playing. To me it sounds strange hearing major keys played on that guitar, cuz I’m all doom with mine. 🤣👍🏻

This guitar looks sick, but I AM NOT A MASTODON FAN, I'd also rather have the block or dot inlays than the trapezoids

+RJ Maksym Me neither but I think this is almost perfect as is. Personally I would lower the action and play 009 - 046's. Its fingerboard is also pretty dry, a bit of lemon oil would sort that, then it would really shred!!

Kinda weird now that Bill left Gibson because of issues with management and quality !!!
And when to ESP for a signature guitar !!

I bought one of these when they came out and Im very happy with it.What can you use to keep the gold looking nice?I find myself always wiping it down.Sadly my pickguard has a small crack.Hope I can get a replacement.

+Voodoochildsj Yeah, unfortunately the Gibson gold plate can wear off really quick with fingermarks and perspiration I think they should maybe lacquer them or something! My Les Paul started showing wear signs after about 3 months! My Ibanez les paul I had for 20 years with chrome still looked great with no wear ;0/

+256daddycool. The pickguard has a small crack on the edge where it looks like a screw was over tightened. wonder if I can get a replacement pickguard..Think its covered under warranty?

Its certainly worth a try!! Email Gibson and they'll let you know. The other option is to source a cream replacement and change it keeping the original one safe in case you ever sell it. It's even possible to get a vinyl Mastodon logo cut!

+256daddycool Id like to get the right replacement, Im thinking thats the only one that will fit plus Id like to keep it all original. It would be nice to keep a spare without scratches

A luthier would be able to make a good copy. I'm not sure how much they would charge though. A local guitar shop should point you in the right direction ;0)
