    It’s one of the most underrated cars ever in my opinion. PandeM Rocket Bunny kit is getting installed on my 2015 tC right now.

    I've had my 2015 for about seven years, no real issues other than needing to replace rear calipers/rotors and some rusting behind rear license plate bolt area. I drive it in MN, so I kinda knew the road salt would be my main challenge with a car like this.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  6 місяців тому +3

      Luckily I didn't own this car in a salty state. But I still had rusting issues with paint chips that occurred on the front of the car... Happens with time and can't avoid it I guess.

    Ill never understand car guys and getting uppity about "not being the fastest car on the road."
    Like there's always going to be something faster, like at this point a Dual Motor Tesla trashes most cars. It just feels like an eternal dick measuring contest at this point. Not everything needs to be a competition.
    I absolutely love my '13, it's really an underrated car and I plan on keeping it forever.

    I bought the 2016 scion tc in October of 2022, now granted it’s my first car and the person who had it before me didn’t take care of it properly but I’m slowly putting in the work and I still love it. I’m definitely going to get it back to how it looked and ran when it was new and add some of my touches to it but I love the crap out of her 😊

      what're some common issues with the car? I know 1st gen had transmission issues, but what abot 2nd gen? Thanks.

      @@dbzownz12345 so far nothing too bad. When I first bought my tc the engine and trans mounts were getting weak but I went and got them replaced just to be safe. Right now she is running well no major issues (knock on wood 🪵) as long as you keep up with the general maintenance to prevent anything from breaking down, engine and transmission wise it will run like butter. I just recently changed the oil and the filter myself not that long ago. So far so good as far as that goes. The only major issue I had was the brakes, mainly the components inside the caliper. Just be careful when I changed the brake pads the piston broke and ruptured causing the brake fluid to leak.

    Same here, got my scion tc in 2012 June, 1 mile. (13 model) and ive been driving for 205-210k miles, only thing I had to do was put a new trans in at 175k. the input shaft was failing, no big deal. 4k otd for a new trans + new oem clutch (clutch was still perfect, no slip at 175k) but I did it anyway. Still driving it!
    I just made it my winter car though 2 weeks ago, I had that same itch. I bought a 2024 gr86. I sat in it, and loved it, because the set up was just the same as the scion tc in gauges/controls hvac etc. I did put a wireless CarPlay pioneer in my scion tc, and a jl subwoofer+oem audio system. Its wonderful. Planning to keep this car til it rots off the frame. No issue though other than the trans. The new trans has a fixed input shaft part as a plus. so 4k for another 10 years of driving, zero issues. no oil burning, 10k oil changes. and 15month insurance lol

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  4 місяці тому +1

      Impressive! After 10 years I only had 75k miles on mine 😂😂. Compared to you at 200k miles. Mine was a garage queen, barley drove it.

      @@HammysShowcase I actually traveled across the country a lot, from Alaska, to Florida even. I also towed my sport bike around the country going to different tracks and stuff using tow hitch and a little trailer lol. The scion has excellent to me, dont know if lets say 50k miles of towing a motorcycle took its toll on the trans/input shaft or not, but I dont do that anymore so fingers crossed this last til the frame rots out. Considering I paid 20k otd tax free in Alaska in 2012, this car is literally worth its weight in gold to me and how much money ive saved in all these years.

    I have this exact same year and colour. I was lucky to find one for 10k CAD with barely 100k kilometers on it and no accidents from the original owner and it's been such a lovely car for me. I don't even wanna drive it in Canada's winter. The only thing that kinda worried me was the suspension being so harsh but now I know it's normal.

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 10 місяців тому +1

      An ex girlfriend had a 2012 TC and I felt like the suspension firmness didn't really match the handling/road holding..but that may have been due to the cheap off brand tires on the thing. In any case, I've experienced much more expensive cars that have the same or worse in that area...not a deal breaker for most people.

    My 2006 tC bought new is still going strong. No mods. I like it better now than when I first bought it. If I buy a new house I will probably get something new but for now it is a keeper. Apparently there were some changes to the engine during this production year. I have been doing engine soaks and last oil change I did an engine flush to reduce oil consumption. Good luck with the sale.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  9 місяців тому +2

      Yep. But you gotta take into consideration, this car was barely $20k brand new. That's crazy cheap, so you kind of expect that. This was my first car so I honestly didn't know any different, and it just felt normal to me lol. Never bothered me one bit until I purchased a luxury sports car with crazy soft suspension and sound proof interior basically. Now when I drove my Scion I'm like dang, this is a loud and rough ride haha

    Have a 2016 80k miles I got in 19. Tried to trade it in where I originally bought it, they offered 6.5k 😢 has a few cosmetic issues that it had when bought, but never had a mech issue. Almost paid off, so decided to give it TLC and keep it. Only second vehicle after 350k mile 99 ranger 😂😂😂

    I bought my 2011 Scion tc in 2013 and after 10 years of ownership, I traded it in this year for a 2022 Subaru WRX. It was bitter sweet to let the car go, but like you I needed something faster with 4 doors.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  9 місяців тому

      How do you like your WRX? I test drove a 2023 GT last week and was honestly not impressed. The pickup/acceleration felt super boring to me and not a lot more exciting than my Scion. Not trying to hate on the car, just sharing my thoughts. How do you like it?

    • @regieds
      @regieds 9 місяців тому +1

      @@HammysShowcase @HammysShowcase I really like it, big boost of power from the tC. I suggest test driving a manual since that seems to be what everyone recommends, you might be more impressed with it over the gt's cvt trans.

    I bought a 2014 tC and it actually came with the touchscreen and leather seats, but it has about 120k miles, so I was wondering in your experience anything that I should be checking or keeping an eye on at this range? I remember the 1st gen had an oil burning issue so idk if they fixed that in the 2nd gens
    great video! it was pretty helpful in going over everything!

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  Місяць тому +1

      @@FelixBrehh mine is pretty low mileage. Only 75k miles. I never did any maintenance on it aside from regular oil changes and stuff. I switched to full synthetic oil and would change it every 6-8 months.. Aside from that, literally never had any issues with this car. I did run some fuel injector cleaner through it tho cause after I left it in storage for the winter, the gas had gunked up the injectors and it was running weird. But yeah, can't really say much regarding problems with it cause it has been super reliable

    It's a shame Toyota didn't keep this thing going and simply rebadge it like they did the 86. It would be on it's 3rd gen and Toyota is out of it's Tupperware, plastic fantastic phase so the interior would be much better. I think now more than ever the market needs a low cost 2 door coupe with the cool features of the TC. Imagine a 2023 TC with updated styling, an interior at least as nice as the current Corolla...but keeps the pano-roof and 8 speaker upgraded stereo system. A little more power would be nice, but Toyota's old 2.5l was pretty much maxed out in the version featured in the TC. Maybe offer a dealer installed TRD turbo or supercharger kit? Anyway, kinda sad cars like this no longer exist...and all real starter cars will be going away soon😢

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  10 місяців тому +2

      Couldn't agree more. I would 100% buy the TC if they brought it back. And a turbo or even the same engine that's in the GR corolla would be nice
