The Pioneer HD Stereo in this car ROCKS!! Amazing sound quality!!!!!
Also the tC has more torque than the FRS, plus it is 5 grand cheaper!! I love mine!!!! Handling is very good with the 2014 updates to suspension and steering!

    • @JuanGarcia-zq5tp
      @JuanGarcia-zq5tp 3 роки тому

You can't compare the two. The Scion may as well be a Corolla. The FRS is a driver's car with 50/50 weight distribution, rear wheel drive, light weight, well tuned, while lacking torque and good tires. But the tC is more like Toyotas have always been boring reliable cars.

Great car! Reliability, economical, roomy, beautiful, fantastic interior layout, and amazing speakers! That is great that Scion went with Pioneer and it should be easy to replace with a modern double din stereo in 2021. :)

Bought one of these brand new in 2014. I miss that car. It was a hoot to throw around the county-graded dirt roads of rural Alabama. Made me feel like a rally driver. I did get that upgraded nav/stereo option, and the wing. I did the TRD exhaust and cold air intake. It would keep up with the civic si of the day

The Civic Si is the tC's only competitor. Although the Si has 200hp the tC has that 2.5 litre camry motor with 180hp. There's no replacement for displacement. Tc is nose to nose or beats the Si all day long. I've seen it.

Love my tC, what more could you want in a car? Reliable Toyota engine, peppy 180hp 2.5l, awesome sound system, great resale value, responsive handling, huge cargo space, the ability to seat 4 adults comfortably, a satisfying exhaust note, and to top it all off - the price. I bought my 2016 with push start/keyless entry 50k miles for $11,700.
I'm coming from a lease on a 2017 cruze hatchback w/ a 1.7l turbo. I have no equity coming out of the lease. Moving to the tC I'm getting a much better car with cheaper payments, all of the same features, more power, and I'll actually have around $9,000 equity when my 36 months are up. A better deal in every regard.

I've been considering this as my next car, I currently drive a 91 Celica and it still runs fine. Toyota's were made to last. This is basically a modern Celica anyway so it shouldn't be a big transition.
But I'd have to get leather seat covers, that fabric doesn't look good.

I have a 2012 tC and I love it. the gas MPG is only about 27/28 which isn't too bad. it's got some power for the size of its engine. seats are comfy. trunk is roomy. back seats fold and the back seats also recline backwards a few inches which create more room. Not too fond of the new rims and the new front end of the car.

Great review minus the misconception that the Civic Si can be purchased in an automatic. It is 6 speed manual only and always has been. The 5 speed auto is only for the 140hp regular Civic. I have a 2012 Si and my wife just got this 2014 TC in the same color as the video with automatic. Both are great cars, my Si is no doubt faster with more head room, but the TC looks better with tons of trunk space. The 2 door TC also has just as much rear leg room as my 4 door Si. I must say, for a Yank, you did an excellent review. The Scion TC is quite a car, and the biggest bang for the buck. I would not say the Civic Si is more fun to drive, but it is geared more for high school girls. The Honda Civic Si(ssy) is a feminine car, but a reliable car. If my son bought a Civic, I would question his masculinity, but if my daughter bought a Civic, that would be fine. The TC is a high performance front driver, and a good choice for anyone, for any reason.

All I see is people comparing this car to a civic Si. They are not in the same class! The Si is a performance version of a civic. The tC is a base model vehicle a fair comparison would be the civic ex which is Hondas base model. If you compare the tC to every one of its base model competitors it destroys what they have to offer. Prime example the civic ex offers a 140HP standard the tC 180HP. The tC does 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, yea It's not fast put that's right on par with a Veloster Turbo which is not only 250lbs lighter than a tC but has a 20HP and 22FT-LBS torque advantage. A true comparison to the Si is the FRS.

He is saying the Honda Civic Si has a 5 speed automatic. As far as I know the Civic Si has a 6 speed manual and doesn't come in automatic. The Scion TC is more comparable to the Kia Forte coupe or Civic EX ( which by the way comes with an automatic transmission) not the Civic Si.

Good video. I did not know all the details of the current TC. I feel for the money and features the Elantra Coupe is better buy if driven as a daily drive and not a track car. The Civic Si is more exciting to drive but I agree I do not like the looks on the outside as much as the TC but the interior of the TC looks cheap.

The civic SI doesn't have a 5-speed automatic. Where are you getting your facts from? I'm sorry but I don't see how the tc and fr-s can be compared together. If someone is looking at the scion tc there is no way they'd be looking at the fr-s and vice versa. Normally your reviews are good, informative, and helpful but this one was not. I have the 09' model, and the only thing I like about the new model is the steering wheel and the headlights..lol. Of course the increased HP on this model. Nice car

Recent head to head test on the fast lane car, the tC was actually quicker in a straight line drag race than the FR-S! There is no replacement for displacement!

Yeah more torque. .. frs is overpriced 30k for 200hp I got a quote on insurance 270 a month... Tc is much better... It has more room in the back

JR Sanchez +1 to that, the FRS is great, I've driven one, a helluva lot of fun, but the tc is much more practical for daily use, plus in the aftermarket you can easily make it much better especially in handling, for $500 you can have almost the same handling as an FRS just by getting springs and sway bars and pretty much eliminating almost all body roll

Tim Irizarry i actually loved the frs i just couldn't afford it at the time but now i have a much better job i was thinking about trading in my 14rs tc... I got my tc for a great price around 23,000 paying 400 a month

JR Sanchez If you truly need practicality then stick with the TC. I have the FR-S and I don't regret it once, love the hell out of it. When I was shopping around I thought the FR-S/BRZ were fairly priced. The V6 Mustang/Camaro are only approximately $1,500 cheaper and sure you get a little more power but handling and feel were worlds apart. A 6 speed Miata actually had a higher MSRP than the MT FR-S and the Genesis Coupe was more expensive in any trim I checked out. The only other RWD sports car I didn't go price check was the 370Z since the MSRP listed online is much higher and is only a 2 seater. The FR-S/BRZ has a good amount of practicality when you compare it to a Miata/S2000/370Z.

With 8 stock speakers sound better then most cars such as a Civics or a WRX even a F-rs and also Brz can't beat it but I added an Amp with 12" sub.

One thing I appreciate from most Toyota cars is that they have a minimum amount of buttons on the steering wheels. I'm currently renting a Mazda3 and can't stand how they have so many buttons on the steering wheel with 6 of those buttons just for cruise control so unnecessary

How is the gas mileage on a 2014 and how does the car/engine hold up? Is it going to be in the shop all the time? It's 2015 but I'm thinking about buying slightly used 2014

I really like this car. Yeah the interior maybr a little bland but hey, it's a $20,000 car. I hate when other car in this price range try to cover up the fact that it's an inexpensive car with fake wood and cheap leather all over. It's not trying to hide what it is, because in the end if you had more money to spend on a car you wouldn't be looking here anyway.

with how strict laws are getting with driving all the apps and stuff that come with the $1200 option are probably not going to be allowed to use while driving. so if you cant use the apps when moving your basically paying $1200 for a nav system when you could buy a good external one for $300, doesnt seem worth it to me. your thoughts?

My Wife and I are looking a getting a second car. We just bought a ford escape so we really just want a fun little car to drive around the city in. Do you think this would be the better choice over the Civic or Forte. PS is has to be automatic for the wife
