- Something really new and unusual for Alfa Romeo 159/Brera/Spider - tail lights retrofit modifications: angel eyes and dynamic LED turn signals.
How to DIY step-by-step instructions without opening the lights:
00:17 Step 1: Remove the taillights
Remove the tail lights. You need to disconnect the wire connectors, unscrew 3 nuts with wrench number 8 at each light housing part and push it out.
00:28 Step 2: Remove the bulbs and wipe the lights
Remove the bulbs holder and a sealing rubber, wipe the lights.
00:35 Step 3: Measure and cut off LED strips
Flexible LED strips in a silicone transparent casing with side glow will be used as an element for the angel eyes.

Measure and cut off 2 strips 13cm long (for lights on the trunk lid), and 2 strips 15cm long (for side lights)
00:41 Step 4: Stick matte tape
Also, for better and softer light diffusion from the LED strip, stick a half-transparent matte tape on the top side.
00:48 Step 5: Stick double-sided tape
Stick double-sided tape for secure to the taillight housing.
00:55 Step 6: Measure and cut off silicone sticks
So that the light from the LED strip does not look too thin inside the taillight, on top of it add silicone flexible sticks with a 10mm diameter, cut them in half, two 14 cm long and another two 16 cm long (respectively for the lights on the trunk lid and for the side ones)
01:02 Step 7: Put LED strips and silicone sticks inside the tail light
The most exciting moment is stuffing LED strips inside the tail light. With my medium length fingers and thanks to the flexibility of the tape, all this can be done without opening the housing - through the hole for the bulbs.
After successful placement of the tape, place previously prepared silicone sticks on the top of it.
Repeat this for the rest of taillights with strips and silicone sticks into the holes with a red reflector.
01:16 Step 8: Final check
Performance check - connect to 12V power source and look, check that the tape is installed and shines evenly.
Done!
But that’s not all...

01:23 Step 1: Sequential lamp ignition modules
For this we need modules for sequential ignition of bulbs for Ford Mustang.

The module has a wire for incoming voltage (+) from the turn wire (red color), and a black ground wire (-).
And 4 outputs - 3, respectively, for each sequential light bulb, and a ground (-) wire
01:26 Step 2: LED bulbs with dual function
Also we need LED bulbs with dual function (used for DRL + turn signal) - white glow (for brake lights and rear fog) and orange - for turn signals.

Standard turn signal bulb lefts without changing and stays in place.
01:29 Step 3: Install the bulbs and connect wiring
Install the bulbs in the appropriate places and connect everything to the car's wiring.
Angel eye power wire (+) to the position lights wire, ground wire (-) to the car’s ground wire.
Bulbs additional power wire (+) to the brake/rear fog light wire, and the main power wire (+) to the sequential light bulbs module, ground wire (-) to the car’s ground wire.
Done!

I used to do a lot of modifying of my own, many years ago on Alfetta's, 75's and Giulia's, but grew older and tend to prefer keeping things stock on my current 159 SW. Yet, probably also because you've presented this in another highly professional footage, I'm tempted.... great job, looks the business! 👍

Especially bmw like angel eyes or back lights made in Poland or Turkey, but your car, in spite of all the modifies you made, still looks like a fabric model and this is what I love about it. Special respect regards to the fact that you made all by your own and things like front lights are unrepeatable for most of the 159 owners like me. Great job, Nico! You've made a 159 icon.

Hello. Do you modify tailights for passat cc 2009 ?
Looks great! I bought all I needed, but when I connect the right side bulb of the outer tail light, which should only light up when the break is pressed down, it flickers all the time. When I press the brake it lights constantly as it should but all the time when it's not pressed it flickers. Did you put additional resistance?
And also how did you fit the drl lights under the plastic bulb holder? Does it even snap in place?
When will you produce a version for the Alfa GT? These look fantastic and really enhance the unique Alfa look. A Front Lights option would be amazing too.

I have a 2.4 jtd van and I will try to do what you did! but I have doubts... what light exactly do you order in the leds for the half moon?! red to orange or white to orange? and another doubt is which number of the 3 available for purchase you choose in the last link!!? already in the description you mention that there are 2 for the brakes and 2 for the change of direction, but in the link you mention, it only has for the change of direction!! use the same?! there are 4 led lamps I have to buy?!

Heyhey! I've got a question for you regarding the remapping of the ECU and the clutch. How long ago/how many km ago did you remap it and how's the clutch on that?
I dont have clutch because of automatic transmission, anyway I made remap 80 000 km age and everything is just fine
Looks great I want to do this but how did you get both the left & right side reverse lights to be white. On the original light the left side is white for one reverse light but the right hand side is red for one foglight.
EU and GB versions has different sides for reverse/fog lights, so I found one tail light with reverse white section from GB version and changed mine EU version tail light with red fog light section.

yes, GB version second reverse light, and 3 min with wire change for that.
The original output did not change, I connected it directly to the wiring

The LED strips are always on as soon as your turn on the car right? If so what color are the LED strips and where did you connect them? because on the link you gave they also have the ones that change color.
The silicone tubes are glued to the lights or they just fit in with pressure?

LED strips are not always ON, only when position lights ON.
Color is only white (they have more variants, select "only white")
Silicone tubes are just fitted with pressure, no glue or tape :)

готово! все сделал, но вот столкнулся с вопросом какие нужно ставить резисторы и на что? только на стопы или на габарит тоже?
короче сколько нужно резисторов? и каких?)
По одному на стопы и габариты с каждой из сторон (4 всего). Резисторы 50w6j. Один провод к минусу, второй к плюсу (габарита или стопа соотвественно). Сами резисторы закрепить саморезом к кузову

white for more warm color in finish, red for more cold color in dfinish. both will be red but with a bit different shade& I used white :)

В колодцах идут 2 контакта, а цоколь лампы на 1 контакт. Как быть, не будет ли короткого замыкания?
можно второй (свободный) контакт заизолировать для перестраховки. либо соединять лампу не цоколем, а обрезать его и припаяться к контакту
