Put Melanie in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously. It's an unbelievable shame that she wasn't inducted in her lifetime. Such a generational icon and talent! RIP beautiful soul. Cheers\=/\=/
Symbolically, she fine tunes her guitar right before singing. :-) But be assured, she is not talking about musical instruments. My goodness, this girl existed at a different level than nearly all the rest of us. We can only sit by, listen and wonder...
There are artists that sing to your soul. There are far too many to name and they will change from person to person, but Ms. Safka certainly sings to mine. I have lived a long life, god knows how much longer, that life will be, but I am glad to have lived in the time that Melanie sang to me, how she made my heart glad at times and others, cry and still others, made me want to march in protest. Melanie Safka sings to my soul and that is but one of the reasons why I can say that I've lived a good life. Thank you, Ms. Safka.
What a beautiful homage to a absolutely exquisite musician!I also grew up in the age when music truly spoke to the soul and even at 66 the music of our times still move me to laughter, tears ,excitement and peace. Thank you
This is one of Melanie's most powerful songs. The emotion she puts into her vocals are chilling, at the same time she conveys her "anger" at being used by the music machine of the record industry. Melanie was far too talented to fit into their game.
@@cowjjf Listen to the song "Melanie Safka - Leftover Wine", it is as powerful sung maybe not emotionally wise but vocally wise :) Also the song "Melanie Safka - Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)" is a good song :) I also like the more recent band with the song "4 non blondes - What's up", it is in a way this kind of style, also sung with a powerful voice, a totally different period of time in 1993, but kind of similar :) I also like the song "The Frost - Through The Eyes Of Love" from 1970. It is also a song sung about a time i wish i could come back to, even if i am too young to have lived at least socially in those times (being born in 1970). Bryan Adams also sings about this time in the song "Summer of 69".
I fell in love with her way back ,after hearing beautiful people on a TV show...I went out and bought that album, and her first and the love affair carries on...she has such power and emotion in her delivery...still love you Melanie 40 years on
Melanie Safka was but one person/performer who got me through adolescence. Their music - vocals, words, music, helped me live another world. Brilliant, just brilliant. And thank you Melanie for being.
Melanie, you have no idea what you were for me as a small child and on to my early 20s. Being suicidal child, and developing MPD I always had you keeping me above ground. I felt then (and in a weird way still kind of do) that your songs and voice were like having a friend that understands, like you were there singing to me. Anyway. I know you'll never see this, but I want to say thank you. Sorry to unload my personal insanity on the comments section of a video of you, but it's better than never saying. My heart and appreciation go out to you always. Thank you
I was very fortunate to see Melanie twice at Massey Hall in Toronto. It was such a special time for me. Seeing her live brought all her music to life. All her passion and emotions were right there in front of me.
Melanie this song has gotten me through so much hurt and pain. The struggles I've had with my mother and my place in the world. I listen to it on my hardest days to get through. I hope you know your art has made such a difference in a lot of people's lives.
Along with her beautiful compositions, Melanie could transform any song into a masterpiece. Rest in peace beautiful soul, your great songs will live on forever , since your voice is needed more than ever in our increasingly polarised world. Sat Sri Akal, Salam, Shalom, Shanti from Raza Organic Farm, Punjab.
Just bought 3 Melanie CDs from Amazon. Had to replace the songs from GATHER ME, STONEGROUND WORDS, FOUR SIDES OF....& others, as my vinyl copies were played so much the grooves got worn down. Plus, there was this scratch toward the end of CAROLINA IN MY MIND which destroyed the beautiful crescendos Melanie achieved on that most beautiful of all remakes. The songs and performance sound more beautiful than ever as it allows you even closer to Melanie's emotionally raw sincerity. Thank-You, Melanie, over the course of all these years for Ringing Our Living Bell.
You and your wonderful songs have always meant a lot to me ever since those far off crazy days of the late '60s. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
She doesn’t have to try .. it’s just there ! Like her live show on tv she just she’s just naturally talented … I needed to cry thank you … I love these lyrics hun… Omg sorry I mean Melanie :)
Postoji drugi svet. Valjda ćemo stići i do njega!❤❤❤
same! and it is astonishing how much her singing asks for that overclocked delay/reverb. i can totally see the guys listening to it and thinking "yes, this".

What a beautiful soul. Rest in peace🙏
Thank you Melanie great singer going to miss her but the songs live on😢❤
Symbolically, she fine tunes her guitar right before singing. :-) But be assured, she is not talking about musical instruments. My goodness, this girl existed at a different level than nearly all the rest of us. We can only sit by, listen and wonder...
Can you share what you think about the message of the song?
That is the mystery of Melanie Mysterious and seductive ❤️

Beautifully said. Without Melanie my young life in the gloomy Netherlands would have been much darker. Thank you for these words of love. xx
Wow. *cough* years on and I'm still holding my breath whenever I hear Melanie. We need more of this beauty in the world.

Her emotion is amazing in this song!

No, there are some creatures on Alpha Centauri that have three hands and 8 fingers on each. They play 20-string guitars.

No wonder I love the things you do, dear!
I still would.
Wow. Just wow.
In ‘68, she used a 12 string. Just imagining the power she would have generated from it to match her gift on this song.
They hope you‘ll be a Star … You ARE a Star, Melanie!
Absolutely spellbinding...
I love her.
As do I, good friend!!
I love you Melanie, i have always loved you.

my head throbs like it took a blow from a sledgehammer
I used to have posters of Melanie on my bedroom walls.
처음 에는 울적하다? 나중 기타의 강열함 이 멋있어 요, 흐름 이 좋네요?❤❤❤
Sheesh. What a tune.
This is from a BBC recording. Are these recordings available anywhere on cd, in particular the sublime performance of Peace Will Come?

Klingt melancholisch ,ich verstehe den Text leider nicht
She does not like doctors pShe collects Rocks. Look what they done to my song mom Hit it big.
Melanie was always better live. Too much production on her albums. She said as much on " Look what they've done yo my Song "
You really should get a clip on tuner, cause that guitar sounds really bad.
They hadn't been invented in 1971.
