Federal Signal MOD 5020 - Hi-Lo - Lightning Sirens - Clemson University, SC

- With the severe storm risk today, and a TOR:CON of 4 for the entire state of South Carolina, I knew I'd see some dangerous weather, so I sat in my car for a bit while the strongest storms rolled through the area, and it was raining so I didn't have the windows fully open. A Tornado Watch was issued for most of South Carolina at around 2 PM, and a Tornado Warning was issued at 2:12 for Greenville, so it missed us and the sirens did not go off.
This was recorded on an iPhone 7 Plus.
I like the Modulator Siren Is a Lighting Detector and is Very Cool and it Woke me up On a Heavy Rain man
Wow! A weather warning siren supports lightning? COOL!
Yes
Love That Hi-Lo From That Federal Signal Modulator 520
Who needs those small lightning horns? We just have are tornado sirens double as a lightning siren!
I don’t
Imagine this
Your in a lucid nightmare but you dont know it, its midnight, you dont know what town your in, theres a loud sound of a freight train roaring through the city, you run to seek shelter in a building somewhere, almost every light is turned off in the entire city, only a few streetlamps are on, theres a moment of silence before you hear 0:08
1:46 kind of sounds like a ice cream truck
WHAT
I like the Echo and how it sounds the Hi lo it's Cool
The modulator set up that way puts lightning detectors to shame except there are no strobes.
That should be the new Clemson fight song.
Lightning rag
Should remix this.
electrical storm warning!@ take shelter immediately, lightning is detected in your area! i use a shortwave radio tuned to down around 442 KC to listen for lightning in the area, and sometimes it can be pickjed up as far as 400 miles out if it's bad enough. neat system there though. i used my monitoring system just today and i was right, it was a severe storm lol.
That siren scared the guy when he started recording!😂😂
The 1st activation was better than 2nd
The weather was relaxing.
Cool! This is the only video on UA-cam of a Modulator doing Hi-Low!
That wind
Look this: ua-cam.com/video/ghkpaW2Jfwc/v-deo.html
No it isn’t
I was stupid back then lol
@SWATfromsimplessndbox2787 Its not european
Imagine this is your car alerter
Nice!
That sounds exactly like the HiLo from a polish Elfir Zura PS-100R siren
Not exactly but sorta
I’ve seen this EXACT siren at Clemson university but never heard it
Interesting. They sound Wail for tornado warnings, and the 2001s sound Attack for the Nuclear Power Station nearby.
Wail and attack are the same think only the peak Hz is shorter
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL I mean I get that, but that's what FS prefers to call it.
@@Undercoverelevator212-s2n and it is what they claim. I mean that both attack and wail are used for the same type of emergency
I was there when this happens
So nostalgic, Clemson class of '12
0:07 i like the start
Eargasm
I’ve seen cloud to ground lightning before. It was nighttime and me and my mom were driving home from the hospital during a storm and there was a cloud to ground lightning in the distance right in front of us. It was so scary and I thought I was going to die.
This also sounds like a police car
You can Hear Other Modulator Winddowns in the Background!
That like of that Netherlands siren
I use to had Thundermod 5020 in my town but the government took them down
Nice
Does it do just the hi-lo sound?
In this video, yes. It does 2 minute wail for tests as well and I think alert for tornado warnings
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL It does wail for tornado warnings too. There is a vid of them and the 2001 doing wail with a tornado warning message
they do hilo
this siren is used in puerto rico
Yeah
Never knew those could be used as a lightning siren
They could be used as any Disaster siren
Any siren can lol. Just depends on what the town activates them for
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL I'm not so sure about that Thor guards for example are specifically used for lightning & they are sirens
@@joannestealey4482 well Thor guards are not on a town’s civil defense siren system. There is an encoder that activates them whenever it gets a report from some machine that measures the electromagnetic energy generated by lightning. Once the energy passes a set threshold, it tells the encoder to send the tones to the Thor guards in the area which are usually on a 154-155 range frequency and they use alphanumeric FSK tones. Civil defense sirens are activated by a dispatcher via radio so whenever they send tones, they would go off. So if there is lightning and their policy is to sound the sirens for lightning alerts, they’ll tone them out
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL uh ohk
Greetings :)
I'm planning to start a project for a collection of warning sirens around the world by asking permission & giving credits for the original respective owners when using their videos.
May i get your permission ? :)
@@ACAPenetrator50 Thanks :)
I'll make sure to give credits back to you in the video :)
Have a nice day :)
@@ACAPenetrator50 Greetings :)

Hi-lo hi-lo hi-lo hi-lo hi-lo hi-lo (WAILLLLLLLLLL!!!!!)
This scares me
Dont they already have on-campus lightning horns?
Yes they do
@Timofey Kozyrev no module leaders are there is a campuswide emergency notification system for things such as active shooters. In this instance they just re-purposed it in order to not have to add more lightning horns into the system
Voice sounds louder than high low
I watched this video in my Xbox NIKL
Its is the ambulance🚑
favorite tone
mentos on a stick lol.
Dont call me that
@@1000BT but your a thunderbolt lol

Nah these are much better
what are the frequencies for the hi lo
850/1050hz
Sirens of Finland It is actually 850hz/1020hz.
Neat
This vid lasts 333 min and sec
850hz?
850/1020 but this is a single tone hi-lo cause the wind up is single toned
850/1020Hz alternating with a single tone wind up and wind down
