This Course Was Built SPECIFICALLY For Bike Racing

- A few weeks back we headed out to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center for a SoCal Crit Race for the books. This was a pretty late season bike race, so of course, my form wasn't exactly where I wanted it to be coming off of a mid season illness. However, this was the absolute coolest course I've ever been on for bike racing.
The old Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA just outside of San Diego proper was built to be a major training facility for elite athletes and different members of Team USA alike. Luckily, that included a criterium training course that we got to take over for the day.
I raced three races on the day, the CAT 3/4, the CAT 2/3 and the PRO 1-3. It's safe to say I was pretty unsuccessful in all three but man, I had an absolute blast in this one considering my fitness. Our newest rider, Julian was able to bring home a great win in the CAT 2/3 Crit so we were amp'd on that.
Did I mention there were tunnels in this bike race?!

Man this course was the jam! Nothing wrong with a standard 4 corner business park banger, but this one'll keep you grinning through the grimace the whole time.
There's another (I belive) BMX track in CV that's a stand alone and not part of the Olympic training center.

I’m getting really good at them. Next time I’m on the box I’ll probably have an excuse for why I didn’t solo away from the field
