Almost 1200 W when he launched that final sprint and gets up to 57 km/hr on flat. 13 years old?!! That's impressive.
Jack is a very smooth commentator. Great to have him on your channel, Jeff. His brother Eli races so well and amazing promise with those numbers. Hats off to both youngsters.
Just phenomenal racing, congrats young Eli ! The bros have such bright cycling careers ahead! How can we all not be excited for cycling's future watching these kiddos race.
Eli was really also on a whole other level technically than the others. Smooth, fast, energy-saving cornering
Love the way these young men race. Excellent work Eli.
13-14 is a strange age category. You get pre-puberty kids who truly look like children, racing against others making full on grown-ass-man power.
This video being a classic example.
yes very strange delineation of age because at this age you can have "late bloomers" still looking like children or "early bloomers" putting down man-power.
That's just sports I guess
Sport is about genetics! Would you cut 10 cm arm lenght from michael phelps to make it fair for the other Athletes? 😂
The guy who finished 2nd, Matthew Crabbe, seemed to know Eli. He followed the hill attack, and the sat on his wheel for the last 5 Kms
yes he was there all through the main attacks knew ELi was the guy to follow
I was watching the national track cycling championships this weekend and was amazed at this kid named Eli that seemed like he could lap the field whenever he wanted. Well, now I know more about him. That’s awesome!
The foot coming up into the picture is f***ing wild, I wish we had another rider's camera perspective on that. Incredible sprint.
Jack and Eli are both top shelf. Everything cycling should be! Great race Eli! Very smooth commentary Jack.
Seeing them kids race like this it's no wonder people are having breakthrough successes at world tour level in their early 20's. If you just compare it to juniors from 10 years ago it's already a completely different world. The professionalism, gear, training methods and general knowledge are on point at such a young age now.
Makes me wonder how it will affect the length of the pro cyclists careers.. Can imagine it taking a heavy toll both mentally and physically
Love the way these young men race. Excellent work Eli.. Kid has talent. Wish them both the best.
Those power numbers, tho'...WOW! 🤯💥 Really impressive, super fun watch and great commentary. Thank you!
Eli is definitely someone to watch, and the kid who finished second was with him stroke for stroke! It's one thing to get dropped by an adult, but if some 13 year old dropped me (and Eli would definitely drop me), I'd have to ground him. 🤣
Really impressive! I raced for decades and that race and those power numbers were impressive. I can't believe they're 13. I also can't believe he came up to win in the last k from that position especially after using so much energy covering gaps throughout the race. He's going to be a monster in the senior peloton in a few years.
You can't believe it and you should stick it out because there's no way he generates that much power naturally
Great job by Eli !
Will be great to see him at local races with Championship jersey !
So happy for Eli. Too bad he wasn't available to talk about his race.
fwiw - Lack of teams overall would be interesting but national championships I've seen are mostly a free for all individual effort. It's what makes them so interesting in my opinion. Yes, in pro races teammates participate in the same championship but team tactics, while not ruled out, aren't a thing like they are in other events so we get to see who really is the strongest/smartest going into the Tour, etc.
Amazed at how Eli and Jack have progressed. They are repping California well on the national and international stage.
You're a monster kid. Get big and strong and do us proud. Rootin for you.
I would like to put it on record that when these kids started racing in the Cat 5's, I beat them on a couple of occasions and I can guarantee that that is the last time that will ever happen! So exciting watching these two phenoms rise to the top. I can only hope that one day I'll be able to tell my son, 'you know those two world tour riders, Eli and Jack? Well your old man once beat them in a race.'
The Velobrew rider who came unclipped is Ethan Courson from Jacksonville Florida. He's gonna be a force to be reckoned with too.
Just incredible camera work and data. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow Amazing!! Love to see young talent doing so well!! He races very Smart!
BRB rules congrats Eli !!! awesome input Jack!
Kid has talent. Wish them both the best
wow! that was awesome. New subscriber Brosridebikes! Love seeing this. Incredible
That is some skill and power to win with coming unclipped.
The speeds at the beginning were screaming. I noticed some of the riders' bike frames were out of proportion, but then it must not be so easy finding a bike that fits well at that age.
That was awesome. These kids just get better and better.
"Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" is this a cycling mantra too? I just know it from disc golf lol
Look into Brady hogue. He got 3rd in the tt and 2nd in the road race. He is currently in Europe right now as well.
Insane that both of these guys are so young
no way the 2nd placer finisher is 13. Homie looks 32 atleast.
Hahahaha some dude in his mid 30s just posing as a middle schooler to crash bike races and lose
"I identify as a 13 year old boy"
He looks abt 16 max wdym 32?😭
Steroids
he is an anime character
In my country(the Netherlands) there is a maximum cassette for these guys and when you go around 40 km/h you’re already spinning at 90 rpm I think you can go with a 52/18. ain’t no way you can hit something like 1400 watts
Even at the age of 16-17 like me now you can still only have a 52/14
You are lucky. In slovenia our max ratio is 50 - 15 and you spin out at 55kmh
Bear in mind 1400W peak power is nothing like a sustained 1400W sprint - and he showed absolutely nothing like that in this race, which had a pretty sedate (if schizophrenic) average pace ... it was more like 1000W sustained for 10 seconds before his legs and power died. Clickbait title basically.
@@pmcmpc Man what on earth are you on about
Gearing does not really impact maximum watts but does impact speed…he did hit 1400w and that last straight was slightly uphill…I think in US for 13-14 junior gearing is something like 50x16?
@@skfl2372 well after all it is to protect your knees from dying at a young age but most guys are way stronger so that they easily spin that out at least you have mouintains in Slovenia all flat here 😂
He was taking some lines thru the turns that, if not for seeing the size of the other riders, I would have thought it was video from Jeff.
I've love to see the youngsters getting involved in competitive cycling! There is a lot of undeveloped talent in a nation of 330 million. Now if we could some of that talent interested in cycling instead of the ball sports we could easily produce multiple Tadej Pogocars, Jonas Vingegaards, and Wout Van Aerts. The US could easily give those Europeans a run for their money!!!
Eli needs to come to Europe! Get this kid spinning some good fast gears.
This just in: The UCI has amended its rulebook to allow Junior riders to use any gear ratio they wish in races, a change that will come into place from the start of next season.
The start of this season - It's already in place
Really annoying that they changed it the year I stopped being a junior
@@elijahkwon422 I could have sworn that the article was from June 2023, and it said, next year.
@@billkallas1762It was announced late last year.
That finish was awesome
Cool finish well done to the bros
why are so many kids unclipping? what pedals do they give juniors?
Always a reminder to tension your clipless pedals on races.
crazy seeing these young riders using such expensive bikes lmfao
His sow pass. 13 years old he race like pro rider. Good luck to youur jerny browwe
The power is insane
1100 watts at the end of that race at 13 is not bad!
Mr. Twitchy on that grey Bianchi.
I just clicked on this beavuse I was thinking to myself "ain't no way he rides a bike with only 1 arm"
Good luck!!
damn, i wish i'd seen something like this 20 years ago. would've picked up cycling earlier
I think it's great to do that later too, since I don't need friends or a team and cycling has minimum risk of injury.
Also it's very expensive sport now you need carbon frames and wheels.
For reference Andre Griepel coukd do 1800watts and Cav maybe only about 1500-1600
This was so insane!
To be fair, unclipping helped him with his positioning, as otherwise he would have been first wheel for the last 465m and I don't think he'd have held it (or it would have been harder). The rando leadout was a godsend
What a monster, incredible!
sheeesh some of the kids have not only better legs but better bikes than adults
Been racing for 3 years now and im on the brink of getting my 1st cat licence. What Jack said about everyone thinking their a sprinter when they start hit home. I still believe I'm a sprinter because of how unsuccessful I've been in breakaways but really I think it's down to me not commiting hard enough.
He is very good,in my country of Belize Central America,we have youth cyclist,if u guys can send his information,I can see if our Federation would let him ride some of our races here, where he can show our guys what cycling is real about
the overlay looks fantastic - which software are you guys using for it?
All of them are beast!
Damn that was intense!! Love it.
A win on rim brakes, nice
Bro said Sean Davies and David Avery were smoked, I ride with them and get destroyed all the time so seeing that is scary..
Smoked after a lap but they both got back on to the main group about 3 or 4 laps from the end but the power in that last lap was too high. Sean eventually place 9th and I think David was a few places after that.
Bruh, thats ridiculous. The next Tadej Pogacar?? 🤯🤯
Kids are beasts!! Amazing
There are 2 BYC riders in the final selection. Go Maryland! -U10
Is there gearing restrictions in kids races in the US?
That kid is a Beast!
13:08 Cat 5 Salute (for 3rd). -U10
He podiumed at the National Championship. Perhaps that is better than his own goals for the season.
Still no reason to take both hands off the bars, especially in a junior field
Does the speedometer working rightly?
The kid is a beast....
Great ride
dude! didn't know this one existed for minors too. damn! i saw minors doing other sports in championships level but not cycling, dangggg dude! that's soooo coool!!!
When did he do 1400 watts???
very impressive
How do you convert the metrics to video?
Excellent performance. How about the kid that got 2nd though who matched the effort the whole race!
He's 13 I swear. I adopted him as an adult and decided his new birthday would be 2010.
his apex-ing on the corners are great. loses minimal speed and keeps it when exiting.
This kid has a future. I wish I knew about cycling when I was a kid
13 year old kids on $10k bikes, Jesus.....
What he said
Jealousy is ugly
@@cliffvanlommel6243 so true. Can I send you my GoFundMe page?
If This guy is super smart and get a Personal coach already now, and starts measure food he Will 100% join tdf at the age of like 24-25ish and thats alot of practice and races and try to find a really good team. Also instead of him doing alot of criteriums then Road races like city to city or something is really good cause he never knows if its up or Down
Why not 19 like the latest generation of wunderkind?
13 year old destroys a 13-14 year old cat race 😅
how can you be on another level when the guy coming in second is just an inch behind....
What are those bling wheels at 7:30??
Those are my wheels. They are Bontrager Aeolus RSL 51
@@jaimesant2882 those holo stickers were amazing!!! Nice race
Beast
Let’s gooooo brb
9:50 idk how ppl do it lol
Respect to that young man incredible crit, but if im honest that race looks so boring for the riders when I compare it to us in Belgium, or is it just an exception?
He should have waited longer to bridge. They really slowed down
You never know that before it’s better to close it directly because someone could’ve attacked like he did in that time
What does race age 14 mean?
You are race age 14 for the whole of the year if you turn 14 in the year.
@@lloydusdavies ah thank you that makes sense now
According to my calculations ELI will do 2400W by 24 y.o
13 years old ???
No way
Im 14 and i got 1200watts on zwift not irl tho
Yo what are these kids eating?? I didn’t even hit 100lbs until I was like 16.
You are not a pure field sprinter at 13 years of age :D
WOW!!!
🙂
Kids race like its Zwift. #nuts. -U10
Only 13??!! Jesus!!
WOW, as a 30 year old, that kid taught me I have a LONG way to go. Lol
lets see what happens to him once he gets the car keys
