Everything that comes up when you search carnivore and thyroid is about Hashimotos, it's hard to find anything about Graves. It's good to know it can help hyperthyroid too.

I had the same problem. I’m Ella’s mom and was soo worried about switching to carnivore upon her Graves diagnosis. I couldn’t find ANYTHING. Now that it’s been 4 years we feel comfortable letting people know there are other options. They said only meds would work and it would be ‘dangerous’ to try diet only. It’s still crazy to me that it WORKED.

Wish I would have known that diet could have changed my Graves Disease back in 1996. I listened to my doctor and had radioactive iodine which killed my thyroid gland and now I have to be on Armour Thyroid the rest of my life. Knowledge is power friends! Always question your doctor on treatments.

Same! I had RAI in 2005 and it's been such a battle since getting back to feeling normal. Such a Rollercoaster ride and frustrated with doctors not listening or brushing me off saying it has to be this or that anything to push more pills for the symptoms then address them. I have just recently found the carnivore side of UA-cam and watching as much as I can and starting my journey. 6 days in and already noticing changes. If only I could grow a new thyroid and ditch those pills too ha!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really do appreciate that the amount of medical professionals learning about lowing carbs is growing. Dr Ken Berry said every year at KetoCon he asks how many people work in healthcare and each year it increases. I love it!! ♥️

I have also graves disease, carnivor since june 2023.
My TSH was 0,01 in february 2023. Then i got carbimazol, first 10mg, after 3 month TSH was 2,25 and I reduced to 5mg carbimazol and started keto and switched to carnivor. In october I stopped carbimazol in hope carnivor fix it, but in january TSH haa dropped to 1,09. So now I take 5mg carbimazol again, and stil carnivore. After 6 month I'll try again. Of course it wasn't t just the number of the TSH, symptoms came back, low engergy, fatique, jointpain, etc.not as much as at the beginnig, I still can work, but I'm a nurse, it's very challenging with low energy.
But I'm still optimistic to fix it, I don't wanna radiate my thyreoid.
Sorry for my english, I'm from germany. But german chanels only promote medication, radiation or mostly plant based diet. I've been vegan for 3 years and destroid my body. After going carnivore, within 4 weeks my life changed dramaticly to the better.

I am glad your health is getting better. I was vegan for 2 years and it had a bad effect on my body, even after a year of being on carnivore, my body is still detoxing from those plant toxins. You're doing great, just be patient. Listen to your body and adjust accordingly.

I was wondering if just getting rid of gluten would be the key to fixing this. If carbs are fine, it’s just the gluten that is the problem? I just realized I have hyperthyroidism and it makes sense now with what I have experienced the last couple years. Not saying I have graves but I think that maybe there are levels of intolerance and maybe there is even particular types of gluten that are worse. Idk, but I am cutting out gluten and going to stick with rice and potatoes along with vegetables and fruit. Of course eat meat but cut out dairy other than maybe keifir. I do notice I am a lot less bloated and less hungry already and it’s been 2 days. There’s gotta be levels but I notice caffeine is something that builds up after weeks and then I get panicky and if I am eating better for a while then it seems to not be noticeable even when I eat less healthy for a bit. It’s like I may be ok with just avoiding caffeine and not eating like crap all the time. Give my body a chance to reset and then I can eat gluten at a normal amount. I also had hoarseness in my voice and when I was singing I just didn’t understand why I was suddenly struggling so now I am motivated to be able to sing clearly again and also feel less brain fog and anxiety. I feel like I’m at the level where my body can handle eating whatever I want one day a week without cause symptoms to flare up but I will see, for now I’m going to try to be consistent.

It never hurts to eliminate what you can, see how you feel, then reintroduce after some time off and see how you feel to know if it causes you issues.

I have Hashimoto and Graves too, which is extremely rare and makes it almost impossible to treat as they are affecting thyriod in the opposite ways . You should avoid dairy but you can use ghee, which is butter without lactose. I started carnivore recently and I hope it will help, as I am seriously losing the quality of life . Carnivore is my only hope.

I wish someone would talk about this more -- there is a big influence on how important iodine is for you on carnivore, however, I took it thinking it would help me, but it feels like it really really hurt me! And now my body feels flooded. I googled how long it takes iodine to leave the system and one doctor said it could take up to 12 months!
      I surely hope not.
      I feel terrible.
What a huge mistake I've made.

Me too. I’m in the uk and prescribed carbimazole and prpanolol! I was diagnosed exactly two weeks ago. I changed my diet straight away to veg and gluten free. It’s helping but my heart rate is still high which is what my worry is! I’m taking vitamins, q10, quercetin, bugleweed and motherwort. Lots of blue berries, grapes, oranges, bananas other fruits I wish you good luck also
