Seeing this album (plus Colors II the next night) live in 2024 was one of the greatest experiences of my life. So thankful they did the Colors Experience
They must be practicing nonstop to memorize all those parts, especially since all of their songs are usually 10 or more minutes and go all over the place.
Josh nails it, remembering all of these parts is much easier when you're the one that created it. Not to say it's easy, just easier. It helps that by this point they've probably played that album together at least several hundred times.
The bass player very rarely gets the credit he deserves, often overlooked, but there's so much imaginative detail in there that other bass players would dream of. Also as a bit of micro-trivia, Dan reminds me of Darin Gray of Dazzling Killmen fame. 🙂
That’s my favorite fucking part! I literally am watching their live shows just to see that part. Lol I remember saying to my friend before going to see them “you ready to square dance in the mosh pit man???” 😂
Being a guitar playing the guitar always amazes me but idont think I'll ever get over Blake's fn drumming. It's mind blowing how he's always on point with everything. He's not human
It's like he is a humanoid robot designed specifically to be a perfect drum machine. I ran into him outside of Rex theater in Pittsburgh, PA, it's like he has no idea who he is XD super humble nice guy! Glad I shook his had before COvid-19 lmao
That was a problem for me when I first discovered them, had to listen to the same songs over and over to focus in a particular instrument because they're all worthy of attention.
Silent Circus is fucking awesome but I watched a fairly recent video of Paul listening to fan covers of BtBaM songs - one was of Camilla Rhodes and Paul said he couldn't even remember how to play it.
In the top 5 concerts I desperately wish I had attended. College Ian couldn't make the trip. I watch the DVD at least once a year tho. COLORS TOUR WHEN COVID ENDS PLZ
Okay so, I saw BTBAM live during their first concert for their Colors II tour, and they played this there. And I gotta say, they played it a bit better when I saw them, perhaps they've gotten better at playing it over the years. But it was certainly amazing, they didn't miss a single beat and the guitars and synths were perfect.
@@triplecmafia I wasn't watching as much as I was listening and headbanging. You're right though. I most likely was observing with bias. They played the song so well though, down to each missing beat.
they've definitely gotten tighter over the years. I saw them play this album in its entirety 3 years ago and not a single member missed a single note. Like to the degree my friends and I commented afterwards about how crazy it was we didn't notice ANY technical flaws in a performance that long and complex (they said fuck it and played like a 2:15 long set lol)
I think it must be difficult going from Sun of Nothing right into this song. At the start without a break it seems they needed to tune and couldn’t lol after the small organ break they sound much better
I'm currently doing ketamine therapy, and at my last session i had a pen, a pad of paper, and listened to colors all the way through. Needless to say, i got my therapy. Onto colors II
7:08 this part of the song makes my hair stand up. I love how they switch the timing into almost a "swing" feel, pretty sure it reverts back to 4/4 time so it feels more "headbangy" but I'm not a musical guy so who knows. It just has such a nice cruising feeling to it.
Someone's 10 album thing on facebook brought me here after many, many years. Always thought this band was an interesting experiment: "how many riffs can we fit into a single song?"
howycwap That's why it bothers me so much. This is one of my favorite bands performing one of my favorite songs, and the camera work is so abysmal that l can't even enjoy this.
The drums, then the guitars are some of the most technical in the industry but they waste video on the excessively mediocre at best vocalist who lightly dances around… monotone metal vocals drive me crazy. Especially with other talented musicians.
You were never interested in them because you clearly don’t know what they are about musically. Go listen to fart jars to get yourself interested again in something

Seeing them in 3 weeks, can't wait!
@chopskie117 you're gonna have a killer time. Everyone was on point. Just a heads up that Dustie isn't with the band still
Just saw them at Webster Hall Saturday and Sun of Nothing going into Ants was an experience idk if I've ever had before
I’m going to see them play colors tomorrow. Can’t wait
@@TimBajeena Can confirm, that was the best concert I've been to so far

Well, they did write it, and from my experience writing a song really helps you remember it.
Check out the first parallax album. My God...
@@ZackJenkins Super underrated, it's tied with II for me.
Luke R. That’s a strong endorsement. Haven’t heard Parallax 1 yet

One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen
for real
Easily the best live band I’ve ever seen. There’s maybe 5 bands out there tops that are even in the same ballpark.
I've been wanting to see them since I was 20, I'll be 38 in a couple weeks.....
@@lauraguimaraes1981 wtf do you live on the moon or something? Go to a fucking show! Buy a shirt. Get kicked in the pit. it's great!
I think they are an timeless glass vessel of SOUND. Never a wrong, jazzy, note.
I can honestly say that this is the only song that I've ever square danced to at a concert (11:50)
Nice.
That’s my favorite fucking part! I literally am watching their live shows just to see that part. Lol I remember saying to my friend before going to see them “you ready to square dance in the mosh pit man???” 😂

real talk man
That was a problem for me when I first discovered them, had to listen to the same songs over and over to focus in a particular instrument because they're all worthy of attention.
Not convinced anyone in this band is human
The run from 2:44 to 3:36 makes me so happy.
It is not human being able to memorize and a perform a song like this.
@@river4462 I do diggidy dig indeed!!!
Let alone the entire album.
Paul isn't human. He's a cyborg from space. And Dusty sold his soul to the devil.
Blake is like batman. He's just badass. End of story.
This genre is not metal, This is just music.
Totally different GENRE
one of the best songs ever written
they all look so young :D
Good news
They were.
I almost went to this.
It's probably the one thing would go back and do if I had a time machine.
That's okay. I missed out on seeing Colors II. I guess I'll gave to have for the 10 year anniversary.
BTBAM are among THE greatest artists in progressive metal, hell just metal in general, alive. Truly phenomenal artists and music. My top 5 actually.
4:01 sends chills down my spine every time.
The timing is impeccable
This song is the bohemian rhapsody of progressive metal. Shit is all over the place in the best way possible 🤘🔥
Perfect description of it.
you nailed it
this was the song that made me fall with BTBAM 10 years ago, I enjoyed and listened to all of their songs.
A true guitarist makes full use of the guitar...hence..these guys are true guitarist
This song makes me dream. Thank you for that.
same man!
the song is about making your dreams a reality
I would love to see these guys do The Silent Circus....my favorite
Silent Circus is fucking awesome but I watched a fairly recent video of Paul listening to fan covers of BtBaM songs - one was of Camilla Rhodes and Paul said he couldn't even remember how to play it.
1:52 he says "sunlight drifting the other day, sunlight drifting the o..."
on the album it's "saw them dragging the other day, scraping their knees"
Great album absolute masterpiece.

They just did a colors reunion tour not too long ago. Was amazing
Seen them 13 times and will see them 100 more times.
I just saw them for the first time in orange county !!! had me shaking and hollering lmao
@@jonathankelley4041 Shit, I've only seen them six times. I have some catching up to do.

Yes!

It’s impressive how much effort they have to do to preform this 13 minute song.

that parts in 4/4 which makes it stick out more tbh
Same year I discovered these guys...been a fan ever since
this is the only concert that made me say i wish a was born in 90s
Fan since 2002 saw the 10 year colors tour. Thank you for being the best band ever assembled 🤘🏻
Yep. Theyve always put out incredible work. No bad albums, just drastic innovation/dynamic improvement with each following record.
🤘👌🤘 I caught them twice on that tour I'm up to 19 times total going for #20 on May 12th... hopefully .
Going to the Colors 10 Year Tour at the tiny-ass Catalyst was incredible.
Hands down one of the best video I’ve seen on this platform
Yeah so good
Such a treat to see the entire album performed live.
This song is about gnats.
Or flying ants.
@@soccerprog226 I think it's a reference to people flying in airplanes.

김재웅 The song Alaska was written about a family trip that Tommy went on back in 96. That is where he caught his first rainbow trout.

Can't compete.
I wonder if Tommy ever uses his metal voice on his son: "CLEAN YOUR FUCKING ROOOOOOMMMMM"
I sure the fuck hope so.
I read this in the same way as "The eeend starts nooooooooow" from Lay Your Ghosts to Rest
So awesome!
Seen this live in Pittsburgh...was crazy full version
Superb!
PURE FOCKING MADNESS!!!
Thanks bud, always a pleasure to watch this
How the fuck is this album 10 years old already? Tempus fugit.
Me and bro wanted to see theses guys play the whole Colors set....but had to work
Sux
I can't wait to see them play this on Sunday!
1:10 Like a Prayer by Madonna.
Wait why does their live performance sound exactly like studio lol. I didn’t even know that was possible. What legends.
Wow their bassist really used to look like a mix of Sid from toy story and Steve o
Spot on
I don’t know how I never put that together but I can’t unsee it lol
Brillant
I read this and looked back up at 9:26 and almost pissed myself laughing
10:48 on tonight’s weather forecast smooth rain
2:32 Anyone else notice the cardboard on the Keyboard haha 😂😂
Dan looks so cool playing this song
Just here prepping for the live twitch colors concert tomorrow.
And it was awesome, even with the technical issues.
The beyond elite
Someone's 10 album thing on facebook brought me here after many, many years. Always thought this band was an interesting experiment: "how many riffs can we fit into a single song?"
I'd love it if btbam made an album that was all pretty stuff, no metal. Like opeth did with damnation, I just think btbam would do an amazing job
philip song The Anatomy Of has a bunch of softer songs. It does have metal but it’s good.
Two parts. The other is all metal.
Can't have one part without the other. The contrast is what makes the album
Yes why not
I like what they make and I think they do it great.
The breakdowns holyshit the breakdowns I've done the perfect amount of shrooms for the breakdowns!!
wot the hell u lookin at ovr ther?
GET - GET DAT SUMBITCH
