Vietnam is a nice place. Many more people try to get into Vietnam (from Laos or Cambodia) than are trying to get out--and if you want to leave, you can just fly away. So, my point is, no one is "escaping" from Vietnam. For some reason, the West still thinks Vietnam is a jungle-village.

I wish they would change Vietnamese to Cambodian or something...there are no Vietnamese refugees, they don't have that accent, they don't wear those clothes, etc. I'm not offended or anything, it's just hard to know anything about Asia and have this make sense. It'd be like having a show that is about Americans, but they all dress like Russians and have a French accent.
But the video states it as if it was relatively recent. Vietnam's been free since 1986. It's not a big deal, it's just the prevailing opinion of Vietnam is so poor these days, and there's a lot of reinforcement. I just like watchers to know that Vietnam isn't a communist 3rd world nation (anymore).
The girl in the blue jacket looks a little like Britney Spears. Maybe only in the first scene though. But I'm pretty sure she's a lot smarter than Britney haha.
I'd have to disagree...I lived in the south (Saigon), which is a much better city than Hanoi. That said, Hue is nicer than both. I actually really don't like Hanoi. The average Saigon person isn't as wealthy as the average American, but they're doing ok. They have the internet, a motorcycle, a place to stay and so on. The thing about Vietnam is that luxury goods are almost impossible to realistically get. But the necessities are accessible.
Why the hail does he dress in that costume because no one in Vietmam dresses even remotely like that and he's half Vietnamese so he should know better. The costume that he's wearing is Chinese.
