    Awesome to see BoostedBoiz at FuelTech! FuelTech is still a bit in recovery mode, not sure to the extend subscribers here know, but FT headquarters where all ECUs are manufactured was completely flooded. They lost nearly all their inventory, also were not able to manufacture new products at scale for 2 months. A whole new assembly line equipment has been procured. They're back in business but there's still some backlog for them to deal with. Send them some love!

    Hey Kyle, be careful when running one injector only on a 2 injector intake. The lack of fuel on the back of one of your intake valves will lead to it getting much hotter than it would normally and could cause it to fail. There's also the possibility that you will get a build up of dirt on the back of the dry valve but I've been watching for long enough to know that the engine probably won't stay together for long enough for that to happen. Hope you see this before it potentially becomes an issue. You could solve this by going to a skunk2 manifold or similar that mounts a single injector in the center of the runner.

    • @TheGreenGrower618
      @TheGreenGrower618 4 місяці тому +5

      They could just weld up both holes and drill a new one centered in the runner.

      This was the first concern I had when we went to the single injector but from what we gathered it shouldn’t be a problem. We will definitely keep an eye on things and compare the valves when the head comes apart to see if we need to change it

    I would lose that intercooler. It's not needed with methanol so it's just reducing boost via air restriction for no reason. Between that thing, the water pump, ice tank and water to fill it and the lines you could probably save close to 50lbs.

    • @TheGreenGrower618

      I've seen huge gains with intercoolers even on methanol. Yes meth takes the heat out of the air but an intercooler provides air density, and that makes a huge difference in turbo response, which on a small engine big turbo combination is really going to help this thing get off the line

      I hear good things on either running a oil heater to heat out the moisture/methanol. Or running a light vacuum on, I think the crank case to suck out any methanol. To extend oil life significantly when running methanol.
      But I am only a casual observer and I can be totally misunderstanding something.

    • @Greg1096
      @Greg1096 4 місяці тому

      @@cajampaan oil heater does help, on my old drag and drive car i ran dual fuel systems for street vs strip and as long as you run it for a while on regular gas after finishing at the strip it will kinda cook some of that moisture out and give you a little more life out of your oil, still have to change it pretty often though, after drag week i would always drain the oil then fill with fresh, then run it for a few minutes on regular gas, then drain and refill again before putting the car away for any length of time. I just didn't like the idea of any residual moisture staying in the engine while it was sitting. Didnt wanna trash a $40k engine while it was sitting over the winter.

    • @cajampa
      @cajampa 4 місяці тому

      @@Greg1096 Ok. What do you think about that, pulling a slight vacuum somewhere high up on the engine for a good while though?
      I have read several saying, that when they get it into the routine to finish of the day with the engine still warm, with putting a slight vacuum on the engine somewhere high up I assume.
      The crank case might have been me misunderstanding/missrememebring where the optimal place was. Anyway it seems like it could work great to pull out the moisture and methanol that have fouled the oil. Because the boiling point of the oil is so much higher under vacuum, than the moisture and methanol + an oil heater keeping it hot enough to drive out foulants.
      It sounds to me like a good setup. At least those who talked about it mentioned they could extend the life of the oil many times that way. It seems like it could fix the need to run it on pump gas for safety also, so no moisture damaged parts, I would think anyway.
      Still draining out the oil before storage is probably a good idea anyway like you did.

    Beautiful work from both of you guys!!! Love the Team I know it's to small sometimes and extra hands would help massively but I love the vibe of the 2 man shop especially when you all go out beating up those huge sponsored big shop cars makes the wins just that much sweeter!! Especially loving the new Plasma CNC and the new abilities it's given you guys just like that coil bracket came out sick and no wait time for shipping haha!! Keep it up! I'll be seeing you guys at World Cup!!

    19:35 Coils are back over the plugs, boiz. Are you going to sell those for all the 1 other people that need one of those? (I'm still looking to put a baby K24 to work, personally). Would you publish the file; I already have a BoostedBoiz valve cover, maybe I can have one of these for decoration!

    Kyle if your running meth now. Then you don't evan need the intercooler unless it's giving you more air density but I know alot of people toss them after running meth

    Interesting that you're running an intercooler on methanol, not something I see very often. My assumption was that nobody runs it because it doesn't add enough power (on methanol) to be worth the weight/complexity, would love to see how your setup compares with vs without if you ever get rid of it.

    Be careful on what engine oil to use on m1, methanol contaminates the engine oil.
    Methanol is notorious for fuel dilution

    I ran VP m5 in my drag bike. In the small engine racing world, karts & minibikes, the difference it night/day. Methanol is absolutely amazing. Really helps with air cooled motors. Obviously a ton more work with clearing out the fuel, oil changes, fogging after running but it's so worth it. Wild what a fuel change can do. Enjoy!!

    You should concider to put a aluminium-sheet between turbo and ign-coils. They already have enough work with pushing the car to the limit. Don't torture them additionaly with the exces heat of the exhaust system. Maybe they will thank you that with a longer life. ;)
