Good question, you can use various different baits, sardine, squid(chokka) mackerel. You cut your bait accordingly to the size of the crayfish gear, tie it onto the gear with ghost cotton. Usually casts are made into areas where there's rocks in the surf. Hope this helps and tight lines 🦞🐟🎣
