Now I want some Guacamole.... you know in the region of Mexico I am from, we do not use red onion, no tomatoes. We use white onion, cilantro, garlic clove smashed, salt to taste, and lime juice. Smash everything together and pits in, never any left over either.😂. Greeting from Northern CA.❤❤❤❤ '
Make it the same..I do add finely diced OR roasted jalapeño..and if I have homemade salsa..I will add a couple tablespoons..also some pressed garlic..and if I'm in the mood..a touch of cumin
Me too but my wife is allergic to it, and if I made it I would have to eat all I made, you know it’s hard to keep fresh. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it too 😂
Here is a GREAT hack! Anytime I find avocados on sale I peel them and add lime/lemon juice then place them in a ziplock bag flattened out in the freezer. When I want a portion of avocado all I have to do is open my freezer bag and break off whatever amount I want to make guacamole or put on a sandwich! It’s VERY convenient!
I make my guacamole similar to yours except I don’t use the seasoning packet. Instead I add sea salt and lots of freshly minced garlic. To save on carbs, I dip cucumber slices in it instead of chips. Very tasty and healthy. Tom, I love your recipes and the patient way you explain the recipes. Some of my new favorite recipes are yours. Your Dad’s hotdog chili is amazing! Your lemonade pie from last week is addicting. When we have a family dinner, I usually introduce a new dish “from Tom.” So thank you so much for sharing with us.
I follow you because I like most of your recipes. Their is lots of ways to make guacamole. I add a little sawer cream to it, and chopped jalapeños, chopped cilantro ,and green onions, and Lime juice. I don't like tomatoes in my guacamole. I season it only with salt. I also put in the pits. God bless, and keep cooking.
I grew up in San Diego and now live in AZ, Avocados don't grow so well in this heat...I do miss letting the Avocado get ripe on the tree, all we get here is rock hard one in the store....I love Avocados, but growing up with a Mexican sister in law, there was always Cilantro in our Guac, and a little chili powder, lots of lime. And yes, I saw a comment that said try the Guacamole on the burger YUM YUM!! I love anything as a side to my burger, but probably potato salad is my favorite.❤
Yum! I haven't used the prepackaged mix, just the guac, cilantro, lime and I think, salt. Delicious. At my brother's cookout, I brought black bean dip. Ground black beans, a clove of garlic, chopped and ground with the drained beans and salsa. Prepare it the day before you serve it. Absolutely delicious.
I love Guacamole and I just bought 2 Avacado’s today , my store had a sale on them so I bought 2 ! I came home and made a taco salad and had a side of Guacamole with it I and used 1 of the Avocado’s ! I’ll try your daughter’s recipe next time I buy 2 avocados since I only have 1 left , and I’ll have to buy the special seasoning also !! Thank your daughter for us for sharing her recipe !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Guac is a great side with anything in Texas. I use roma tomatoes without the seeds, whatever onion I have on hand, jalapeno chopped fine without seeds, just a little bit of cilantro, lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and I make mine chunky so that I taste the avocado.
I have never used a packet of guacamole mix. I’ve never even seen them in the grocery store. I just add salt and pepper and cilantro and lime or lemon juice. Next time I’m at the store I’ll look for it. Guacamole is going to turn brown no matter what. The best method I’ve found is to place Saran Wrap directly on the top of the guacamole. And an even better way is to eat it very quickly!! No leftovers! Thanks for sharing Caroline’s recipe with us. I’m going to try it. 👍👍
The nice thing about the McCormick's packet is that it contains all the seasonings you need in the guac and there's no MSG in it. We like the convenience too. Thanks for watching our videos and supporting our channel.

I made the guacamole and was in shock when my husband said this is delicious. He’s right, your daughter’s recipe is so good. I will share your video. ❤
I went to put the McCormick's guac seasoning in my WM cart and noticed the sodium content , so be aware if anyone is watching sodium the McCormick's has 1120 mg of sodium for the whole pack and I would eat the whole bowl solo 😂 I'm not a health nut, but trying to watch my salt intake ...Thanks Tom and Melissa for the great recipes..❤
@@joduffield3171I make a 2 ingredient guacamole. Mild Pico from grocery store and avocado. The Pico already has Chopped onion and tomato so no chopping. The only salt is what you add or in our case, don't add. Still delicious.
My family is Mexican and we only made guacamole for parties. When avocados were in season we ate them with each meal. Just sliced in half with lime juice and salt. Delicious!
Corn on the cob, coleslaw, potato salad, all the usual yummy stuff!! I've never made guacamole before. But I will now. You make it look easy! Thanks Caroline, Dad and Mom! ❤
I was reading the ingredients in a guacamole recipe once, and suddenly realized that, if you didn’t count the avocados, what you had was a pretty basic salsa recipe. So, if you’re ever in a real hurry for some guac, just mash up some avocados and stir in a spoonful or two of store-bought salsa.
That's what I do and have for 50 yrs; usually don't have tomato on hand when I'm in the mood for guac. It turns out great that way. I also sprinkle in garlic/onion powder, lemon juice and a couple of dashes of worcestershire sauce.
Do y’all ever agree to disagree?.. You seem so calm and loving all the time..Thanks for the recipe and don’t forget to “‘Put A Lid On It “.. plastic wrap 😂😂😂
That pit thing has never worked for me, but I can tell U that after U cut the avocado in two, while holding it together, slightly squeeze both sides & the pit will pop out ❤🎉
@@tomwyant9297 I never do it any other way. I've always been afraid to do the knife thing 😭 It looks so dangerous & I remember when Joy Behar cut her hand real bad. I hope it works for U 😊
Hello Tom & Melissa - We enjoy guacamole. I have never used one of those spice packets. I usually use the yellow onions , but have used red a time or two. I like the onions finely diced & I use whatever tomatoes are the most flavorful in season. I sometimes add cilantro if I have it on hand. The lime as well if I have it. The last dozen times I made it I just cut it in 1/2 & remove the pits . Then I use my knife and thinly sliced my avocado in one direction then the other direction so it is a fine dice . Scrape it out with a spoon into the bowl &add my other ingredients & stir and sometimes I eat it just as a salad. Other times with the thin cantina corn chips. Other times we warm a tortilla & spread it on half of a tortilla fold it over & eat it as a taco. Any way we eat it is good & very healthy for us. I ate it often when I was on a lose weight regimen. I also add just a pinch of salt to mine. Thanks for sharing your daughter’s recipe with everyone. I might grab a packet of that seasoning to try.
We make guacamole with a similar mix, however, I use finely minced sweet onion but no tomato. Depending on who we are sharing it with I might also add about 1/2 finely minced fresh jalapeno. Next time I will add tomato. Thanks for sharing!
Love watching all your videos. You remind me of my dad, he passed in 2017. Head graying whiteish hair with a pot belly, He loved to cook and please his family. Thanks for the video.
I like my Mom's potato salad ,coleslaw and bush beans, sliced tomatoes fresh out of the garden. Also in place of coleslaw I love cucumbers,Vidalia onions, gr pepper and sour cream. I get my guacamole at a Mexican restaurant if and when I get to go. I do make it but I add mayo seasons and cilantro.
This recipe looks really good. I'm really glad there's no cilantro, or hot peppers in your recipe. I will try this recipe - meaning I can't wait to try your recipe.😋😋
Being from Southern California guac is in our blood here. The best compliment of my guac came from actor/restauranteur Danny Trejo who said, "This is the best Gringo Guacamole I've ever tasted.". That gave me warm fuzziess. I use Roma tomatoes and deseed them, using only the flesh. I don't use a flavoring packet, just fresh cracked black pepper and sea salt. After I mix everything together I throw it into my food processor until I get a fine, firm mashed potato consistency. Then I put it all into a Ziploc bag, squeeze out the air and seal it. Then all I have to do is snip off the tip and pipe it out onto my nachos, tacos, taco salad, etc. And when I'm done I pinch the tip of the bag that I cut and put a chip clip on it to keep it closed. You didn't put the guac on your burgers??? Oh, Guacamole Burgers are delicious! And a huge favorite here in SoCal. Another fun video.
No, we ate the guac with some chips and managed to eat every last bite of it. No worries with it turning brown later! You did receive a wonderful compliment on your recipe. And I like the Ziploc bag idea to pipe it onto the food. Kind of dressed it up a bit!
Ya gotta try it on your burgers next time... W/ a slice of melted swiss cheese. The creamy zip of the guac w/ the tang of the swiss... It's a party on your tongue!
I've had it that way in a restaurant before that had a nice selection of burgers and you're right - a party on your tongue is a nice description for it.
We always make fresh Guacamole, I learned from a sweet Mexican lady; thanks for the tip to put the pits in once made!!! Cilantro and a dash of cumin are absolutely necessary ❤ Thanks for your great videos!!! Your audience loves you!
Pickled onions on the cheeseburger, and a side of homemade creamed cabbage and fresh corn on the cob….that’s summer mmmmm!!! Love Melissa’s reaction to tasting the guac, she’s precious! God bless you both 🙏
I absolutely love freshly made guac. It's ruined me for any that is store bought now! We really appreciate your comment and that you are watching our channel.
Yummy! while you have the grill on... put on a slice or two of pineapple... zucchini... or yellow squash... yum! You two are the best! And don't you love it when your children can make something that you can share with all of us? Thanks, Caroline!!
Thank godness l have an avacado in the kitchen, forgot to get more today when l was in Wal Mart, .With burgers l still like potato salad and baked beans ,love that with grilled chicken too,or really ribs or anything off the grill .lm old school.
In my quacamole I use white onion, garlic, lime, roma tomatoes seeded, cayenne pepper, no quacamole seasoning packet. For sides with burgers usually pasta salad or potatoe salad. Enjoy your podcast.
Sour cream, lime juice, chopped tomato, chopped onion, fresh cilantro, chopped pickled jalapeño or finely chopped fresh, fresh garlic. Dont think I ever turned downed some guacamole whether on a tortilla, cracker, potato chip or on a burger or taco. All good.
Yummy! Great tips too! With grilled burgers we have bbq beans, potato salad and Nathan's hot dogs. Have several days of meals leftover! I think just guac, chips and burgers would be tasty too. Thanks for a great recipe! 🎉
Where I live here in Goleta, there are many avocado orchards and we have a lemon festival every year. I make a lot of guacamole your recipe looks really good. I just love avocado on toast.
I eat an avocado every morning on whole grain toast. I season it with salt, pepper and lemon juice. My hang up is topping it while eating with chili lime sauce
Potato salad homemade Baked beans & corn on the cob from the BBQ pit Sometimes I make a big old chefs salad depending on how many ppl I am serving I like your presentation and ur choices of food/videos are great! I especially liked the ones you did with fresh lemons TY
We like Ore-Ida crispy crinkles and Bush's baked beans. And sometimes pasta salad with our burgers! Sometimes I will use lemon juice and lime juice for guacamole. But it's all good, yummy!
We usually do potato salad or macaroni salad with baked beans . Watermelon if its in season. Cucumber salad. Deviled eggs. My grandkids will sometimes have me make fried potatoes or peel some russets & make homemade french fries. That's our sides. 😊
I love guacamole and make it often. Heck I love avocados! I use Roma tomatoes less seeds for me. I make my guacamole pretty much like you did. Tfs friends! ❤❤
I use lemon juice and regular white onion in mine, and garlic powder. cilantro if I have it, but usually don’t… I love chunks of tomato and a teaspoon of salsa to round it out. Mmmm!!❤
Thank you for sharing your recipe I will try this version, I also do not buy pre-made from the store. One thing if you find your onion is strong, cut it in half and soak them in cold water for at least 15 minutes. Drain, dry and then chop. Submerging them in cold water takes away that intense bite. Enjoying your channel very much 😊 btw we love potato or pasta salad as a side with our burgers.
That's a great tip for the onions. I really like the red onion in this, but a little red onion goes a LONG way! And I'm with you on the potato and pasta salad with a burger, too! So yummy!
We make guacamole too. Same ingredients. We add fresh cilantro in ours, which is delicious. Not too much, just about 1 tablespoon chopped fine for the two avocados and more if you like.
I don't think I've ever met an onion I didn't like. Like 'em raw, grilled, red, green, Vidalia, white, etc. Both of my parents were onion lovers, so I guess it's genetic. Love me some guacamole. My favorite way is on tortilla chips, but it's also great on burgers, tacos, flautas, and so many other things. Walmart has a chunky guacamole that I really like (made fresh in the store), but I agree with you about most store bought guacamole. I'd guacamole and chips is a great side for those burgers, but I'm also usually gonna want some potato salad, preferably made by my sister-in-law. It's the best. Great video! Happy Juneteenth!
Tom, I didn't like guacamole at all until I ate some at the hospital cafe. There was a small shop inside the cafe that got me to try guacamole the way he made it and it was so good. I actually liked it. One thing he had in it was bacon broken up in small pieces.
Agree! Homemade is better than the store. Looks delish! My husband and I love to eat 🥑's! It's been a while since we had guacamole. Love to give this receipe a try.❤
I'll be having that tomorrow ❤😊 mustard, ketchup, mayo, dill relish, sometimes lettuce And I eat Ground Chicken burgers no Red Meat Thank you for sharing ❤ 😊
For a decent off-season tomato get 🍅 Campari tomatoes 🍅 from Kroger. They are small, on-the-vine in a clamshell container. They are not that horrible cardboard texture & they have a surprisingly good tomato flavor.
The first time I tried guacamole was in Houston, TX, at an authentic Mexican restaurant. I definitely didn't like it then, but over the years my taste has changed, and I love anything with avocado now.
Same here! Never ate Avacodos until a few years ago. Threre are alot of things I hated growing up. but love to eat them now! The only exception to this is peas. I hate peas to this day!! And I love guacamole, especially when I stir in some of my home canned tomato salsa. I haven't tried guacamole with my home canned Tamattillo salsa yet. It should be interesting to see how it tastes. Love your recipes Tom!😊
My daughter is left-handed and I'm wondering if there is a special brand of knives you use for your delicate slicing? Just discovered your videos and appreciate how detailed your instructions are. Thank you!
This is the closest to the "original" guacamole recipe I'm used to. Depending on how rich tasting the avocados are, I've also had it with a sprinkling of ground cumin, which adds a hint of bitterness and is also very tasty. As for cookout sides, I've substituted your Ramen Noodle Cole Slaw for regular slaw. Great stuff!
I love Guacamole but never knew how to make it. Always bought it now I can make it myself just have to watch on the salt. Thanks for the recipe. They do make a guacamole bowl on Amazon that is real nice. Love your videos and there so easy to copy. ❤
You are so welcome! We think this is so much better than what we can purchase in a story pre-made. It tends to be a bit slimy for my taste buds when it's store bought. We hope you will give ours a try.
I like grilled veggies and little red potatoes well seasoned olive oil I put it in aluminum foil packets and grill great with burgers chicken anything you want that guacamole looks great
You can put plastic wrap down on the surface of the guac and that prevents it from oxidizing as well. I've put mayo in it b4 and it adds creaminess. Not too much, or else you're just eating green dip. Most of us in SoCal make it the Mexican way--white onion, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, S&P.
That looks yummy! Unless it's a large group of people, I don't put onion or tomato in our guacamole because my partner doesn't care for it, but my recipe is very similar to yours, including the pit. We're pretty standard with our sides, potato salad, green bean salad and ranch style beans
I think the onion and tomato are pretty traditional ingredients but when you're making it for you and your partner, then you should definitely make it just like you want it. And I love those standard sides, too. Especially the potato salad. It's a wonderful compliment to a backyard burger! Makes me hungry for a cookout!
Love guacamole! Maybe Caroline would be willing to do a guest appearance to demo her recipe. But Tom, yours looks delicious! I agree will Melissa - I could eat this with a spoon! But I do love the thin Cantina chips, too.
I think I could eat it everyday. And I think it's great with a lot of food - like burgers! I'll ask Caroline but I'm not holding my breath, either! She and I are a lot alike on that.
We love Tomatoes, lettuce and mayo on our burgers, served with cuke slices and bread and butter pickles, and potatoe chips. Or. Ketsup, onion and cheese on the burgers with side of potato salad…..

Chips and Guacamole, Pasta Salad, Tator Tots, French Fries...
We always make fresh Guacamole, I learned from a sweet Mexican lady; thanks for the tip to put the pits in once made!!! Cilantro and a dash of cumin are absolutely necessary ❤ Thanks for your great videos!!! Your audience loves you!

You're welcome, Crissy. I think she uses the cherry tomatoes because they are always available and ripe.
That looks wonderful!!!! I had to prepare guacamole for 75 guests and I did use a little sour cream and it was delicious!!!!
Ooo, sour cream. Great idea!
Guacamole is great along with salsa and cheese on an omelet. Yum!
YES! I love guac with an omelet.
This Five Ingredient Guacamole recipe looks so delicious 😋Mr. Tom.
We love pineapple, zucchini, or yellow squash grilled! It seems to enhance the flavor so much. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words!
Hi guys
Looks delicious

In my quacamole I use white onion, garlic, lime, roma tomatoes seeded, cayenne pepper, no quacamole seasoning packet. For sides with burgers usually pasta salad or potatoe salad. Enjoy your podcast.
Thanks for sharing! We really appreciate you joining us at the table.
All good.
The guacamole looks delicious and so easy to make. I like baked beans and macaroni salad with my grilled burger.
We serve Mizeria as a side with our burgers, along with potato salad, raw veggies and dip .. so yummy 😋
Yummy! Great tips
too! With grilled burgers we have bbq beans, potato salad and Nathan's hot dogs. Have several days of meals leftover! I think just guac, chips and burgers would be tasty too. Thanks for a great recipe! 🎉
I love Nathan's hotdogs! We always grill them and top them with mustard, onions, my dad's secret hotdog sauce, and cole slaw. Now I'm really hungry!
Where I live here in Goleta, there are many avocado orchards and we have a lemon festival every year. I make a lot of guacamole your recipe looks really good. I just love avocado on toast.
I'm right there with you Melissa I love it with a spoon
I eat an avocado every morning on whole grain toast. I season it with salt, pepper and lemon juice. My hang up is topping it while eating with chili lime sauce
Avocados are really good for us. Having it on toast every morning is a great way to eat it.
Thank you for this recipe. I always wanted a great Guacamole recipe. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
And a green shirt! I like it!
LOL! You noticed.
We eat with our eyes! Red onion makes a visual flavor difference!!
I agree that we first taste with our eyes.
Beautiful Avocados. My sister adds like a quarter of cream cheese in hers, and it's was good.
Potato salad homemade
Baked beans & corn on the cob from the BBQ pit Sometimes I make a big old chefs salad depending on how many ppl I am serving
I like your presentation and ur choices of food/videos are great! I especially liked the ones you did with fresh lemons TY
I appreciate you encouragement, Margie. Thanks for supporting our channel.
Hi Melissa and Tom! I can’t wait to try this recipe! It looks delicious and I love it that your daughter came up with this recipe!
Looks good!!! I make mine with red onions, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, minced garlic, lime juice and either diced jalapeños or serranos
Yours will have a bit more of a kick than ours with the jalapenos but it sounds great.
We like Ore-Ida crispy crinkles and Bush's baked beans. And sometimes pasta salad with our burgers! Sometimes I will use lemon juice and lime juice for guacamole. But it's all good, yummy!
That's my kind of meal!
Looks really good. So appropriate for summer. Thank you Tom, Mellisa, and Caroline❤❤❤
We appreciate that. Caroline will appreciate the thanks!
We usually do potato salad or macaroni salad with baked beans . Watermelon if its in season. Cucumber salad. Deviled eggs. My grandkids will sometimes have me make fried potatoes or peel some russets & make homemade french fries. That's our sides. 😊
Every bit of that sounds wonderful!
I love guacamole! Thank you.
Mmmm!!❤
I could eat that whole bowl have a blessed night 🙏
We did! LOL!
I can take or leave cilantro. Sometimes I like it more than others. I know lots of people do add it to their guac.
Will try this recipe! As far as sides, I'm partial to potato or macaroni salad. Nice and refreshing.
We immediately got the ingredients and made it. Sooooo yummy. I opted out of onions because they make my tummy hurt and added cilantro instead.
I understand. You have to make it work for you. The red onions are strong. We appreciate that you are watching our channel.
Agree! Homemade is better than the store. Looks delish! My husband and I love to eat 🥑's! It's been a while since we had guacamole. Love to give this receipe a try.❤
I think you'll love this easy recipe. Let us know.
Definitely! 😊
I'll be having that tomorrow ❤😊 mustard, ketchup, mayo, dill relish, sometimes lettuce And I eat Ground Chicken burgers no Red Meat Thank you for sharing ❤ 😊
I love McCormick, anything McCormick. It's all good.
I agree. They have quality products.
For a decent off-season tomato get 🍅 Campari tomatoes 🍅 from Kroger. They are small, on-the-vine in a clamshell container. They are not that horrible cardboard texture & they have a surprisingly good tomato flavor.
Thank you for the recommendation. Nothing more disappointing than a bad tomato.
Ramona, Melissa and I didn't care for guac at first either. We've learned to love it. Our tastes do change as we age.
@@patmarkham519, I'll bet your home canned tomatillo salsa would be great in guac!
That’s how I make it too, but last time i sprinkled Tajin seasoning on it instead of mc cormicks guacamole seasoning! It is amazing
I have some Tajin. I'll try it. Thanks!
I'm so glad to know that you enjoy our Ramen Noodle Slaw. We think it's fantastic!
I love Guacamole but never knew how to make it. Always bought it now I can make it myself just have to watch on the salt. Thanks for the recipe. They do make a guacamole bowl on Amazon that is real nice. Love your videos and there so easy to copy. ❤
Thank you, Cindy! We appreciate your support and encouragement.
You are so welcome! We think this is so much better than what we can purchase in a story pre-made. It tends to be a bit slimy for my taste buds when it's store bought. We hope you will give ours a try.
Guacamole looks great. I will try that recipe.
I like grilled veggies and little red potatoes well seasoned olive oil I put it in aluminum foil packets and grill great with burgers chicken anything you want that guacamole looks great
Grilled veggies are the best!
We love macaroni salad and baked beans, deviled eggs.❤
That sounds delicious!
Yums!
Love Guacamole with anything, Melissa I understand. So good on a tomato sandwich. Hope you both are having a peaceful day.😊
r.c.4016- Never tried it with tomatoes in a sandwhich. Will certainly have to try that. Thanksfor the tip!
On a tomato sandwich? WOW! I'd never thought of that but I'll sure try it. Thanks for the suggestion.
I like Maccaroni Salad and Baked Beans with my Grilled Bacon Cheese Burgers.
Oh, YES! I love macaroni salad, especially my mamaw's.
I made this today. I don't know how it compares to Caroline's, but it was delicious!!
Love love guacamole ❤. Thanks for the recipe.
I can't remember when we had guacamole left over either. Lol. mmmmm I could practically smell it! 👍💕
We love Tomatoes, lettuce and mayo on our burgers, served with cuke slices and bread and butter pickles, and potatoe chips. Or. Ketsup, onion and cheese on the burgers with side of potato salad…..
Yes! Yes! And, YES! That sounds delicious.
