Lunge-feeding Humback Whale plus T36A & T37A Families of Bigg's Orcas in the Salish Sea

orcas! In July 2023 we’ve been seeing many humpback whales in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We’ve been excited to see examples of lunge feeding (seen here) and flick feeding, where the whales uses its tail to stun the fish they are feeding on. On July 11, 2023, in addition to multiple HB's in the Strait, we witnessed the T36A and T37A families of Bigg’s orcas fighting a strong current near Cattle Pass in the San Juan’s. A glorious day on the water!
