I'm so jealous of your knife collection😍
That handle is awesome , pure comfort. I love having a good camp style knife , scandis are awesome but a good saberVex is really tough.
It's nice to not worry about the edge on your blade doing heavy tasks.

Yes I love my Scandis, but these type of Sabervex camp knife, allrounders are great! And I actually use these more than Scandis during summer/early autumn.
      Thanx for watching my friend!

The Outback is one of my favorites as well. Mine is a scandi grind though, but regardless, LT Wright makes a great knife, and this is one of their best designs.

They sure do. This one in either scandi or saber is a great knife.
Feel like this is just really balanced bushcrafter/campknife.
      Thanx for watching my friend!

Great Lake, what a nice "private" fishing hole! Ha! Very nice! Yes,the Outback replaced my Genesis due to it's wonderful handle, much better control and comfort! The Kephart style blade is perfect for this type use and the CPM-3V is a great steel too! Great review! Thanks! You know, this Outback and the Rogue River have very similar handles, As you say, the Handle can really make the knife, I think for this reason, that's why these two are my all time FAVS! BUT, the Rogue River's ergonomics will ALWAYS be in First Place for me due to the blade/handle angle, it just works well for me! Would be nice to see a comparrison between the Outback and Rogue River, such a close match!

Really impressed by the balance and Ergos here. And then the almost lack of ricasso, (which I forgot to mention) and 3v steel just makes this a winner knife n my book. Just a great allrounder.
Thanx for watching my friend, have great day!

Good to see you back with a longer video. Looks like a beautiful lake. Here in the states, a lake like that would be crowded with boats and idiots on jet skis. Cool knife! Did you ever check out Work Tuff Gear knives? I have the Voyageur and the Kodiak. Pure awesomeness! Cheers!

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  27 днів тому

I have check them, they seem to be gaining in popularity. Looks very nice! Quite difficult to find here. But im sure will eventually get those:)
Maybe its because here is at the end not so many people in Finland, and lots of lakes. But people also tend to go to certain lake here. So f.e. A lake that is nearest to Fiskars has some people, but the villagers go there to do activities, and then for peace loving people like me there is countless other lakes to choose from eith almost zero people, like the one on the video. Thanx for watching my friend!

Depends on what state you are in quite a few states, have many many lakes that does not have easy access. MN, WI, UP of MI, & Alaska, all states that I personally know that you can find peace and quiet.

That is a lovely knife you own there! I prefer the Outback Design over the GNS for it's more bellied blade shape.
Personally, I own both the JX2 Jessmuk in 01 and XLNHunter in AEB-L: which if I were to take a woods-trek (or even in a survival situation) those would be out of all my knives- my top 2 choices.
Jx2 with it's robust design and scandi edge can take care of the wood processing and carving (made a large spoon with it already).
XLNH is very versatile- but can be a primary animal, fish, and food processing knife.
If either were to fail me- fortunately; both are designed to cover each other's tasks because both are still designed around versatility.
Thanks again for the video and I look forward to your next!

I'm curious as to how long the CPM-3V will go with the factory edge before you have to sharpen it again? Would be interesting to know just for comparison, say between A2 or 01? 🤔😁👍

Do you have an opinion regarding the location of the lanyard hole, on this and other knives?
In principle I am of the belief that it is better to put the lanyard hole up towards the spine side of the knife.
The received wisdom is that if you wear a lanyard attached to a hole on the fingers side of the handle, when you drop the knife it will tend to swing back towards you because of the balance and leverage involved.
This is something I heard which made sense to me but I have not tested the theory much, either accidentally or deliberately.
