OMG you just brought back some old memory's. I still think about those day's when I joined in 77. its amazing how they stay with you even today. I'm 67 now and that was one of the best parts of my life. These kids today don't have a clue of what it was like to become a man or a gal. I would do it all over again if I could. I was talking to another vet a few weeks ago he said they don't even have to clean their own latreen (bathroom), they have an outside contractor do it for them wtf? the world is a funny place these days I could go on and on. thank you for your post soldier. once a soldier always a soldier.
I would love to poke your brain about your time in service. I think it would be really cool to make a difference between then and now video. We don't have to clean out the latrines anymore during our field exercises. Contractors doodoo that lol. No burning of the crap (if that's what you did)
Of course I remember! I gave you a hard time and I’m sorry. I’m happy towards the end for our deeper conversations and understandings. Keep being an example and role model! How did you find this video?!
Prison analogy is good. I did 22 years 1988-2010 and have worked as a corrections officer for 12 years. The food and showers are definitely better in basic.
I bet you saw so many changes during that time. I can’t imagine what it was like especially in 2001. That’s good to know we at least have better food and showers haha
We don’t glorify boot camp, we leave that childish ideology to other services. US Army is airborne, airmobile, and cavalry. Success comes in all your follow up training that continues well beyond initial entry training that young people go through. The follow up training depends on your MOS field and can range from master gunner, jump/air-assault school, path finder, Sapper, combat life saver, and etc. There’s opportunities in the Special Forces or Ranger regiment if that’s your thing. Regardless of MOS. As you advance in rank, the Army prepares you for more responsibility by sending you to PLDC, BNOC, ANOC, Ranger, and War College. Big misconception about the Army. They are definitely NOT do nothing grunts with rifles and no jump wings. We don’t have to boast about it either. Again, we leave that to the other services to glorify being yelled at for a few weeks and nothing else to show for it. A soldier’s badges, tabs, and continued military education and training speaks louder.
my drills didnt give no fucks past basic. i was infantry osut and when the ait part began it was pretty cash for the rest of the time we had nicotine, coffe, candy all kinds of shit we werent supposed to have
@@daboscharmy it all really depends on leadership my drills first sargent and CO were the biggest shitbags ive ever seen they had it made they would just get drunk make fun of us and not do shit all day
Such good advice! Not just for military but for life. Surrounding with good people is key and keeping a good attitude. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching and for the comment!

Solid insight! Thank you for the comment and information. The army certainly isn’t short of opportunities, you just have to be proactive about it.

Infantry should get it lol. I found AIT was very different depending on MOS and leadership. Medics seemed to be on a tighter leash.
