I know, right. That's got to be my favorite hounding spot. Most of my videos currently that show me cutting Oregon Agates, come from this location. In Fact, I have a video coming where I cut 12 small agates from there. My recent video of Maybe My Best Agates of 2024 where from that location as well. I was hoping to get there one more time this year, but the rains have come and it's steep and muddy now. I have to tie a rope to a tree to pull myself up even when it's dry, so it's out of the question now. I want to be the first people in there next spring and after the rains there's always so much new material exposed. Thanks for appreciating my time out. I wish you could all be there with me.
@@lolajo2850 True. I don't know where the start or the end of the source is, but I've been about a half mile up the creek by access of another point, and I'm still within that source. It's actually just kind of erupting from the ground all around. Every tree that comes down, every steep wall that erodes with the season, brings more agates to the surface. So next spring there will be like a new batch of rocks were placed there on the surface. Luckily, you'll all come along when I do get back there. I have larger ones as well, but I can't cut them with my saw. Maybe I'll share some photos in a community post or short.

I had been wondering who had been to that spot this season because things were very overgrown. I think I got my answer... maybe no one lately. I took my wife and kids here early in this year 2024 and there wasn't as nice or as much obviously at the surface. Nature exposed a lot in 5 months.

Now that I'm feeling better, I'm hoping to get there one more time this season before the waters speed up and rise. The canyon is steep so if it's raining and muddy I'd have a real hard time getting out, especially with a bucket of rocks.

Although I was thinking of trying to gather a couple of trustworthy subscribers to take them along with me in Spring. I'd love to see the amazement in other people's finds. @@just-one-more-rock Yeah I have to do the same for my spots around Shady cove Oregon. If I tell too many people the spots are so small there probably won't be much left for anyone to find. Sucks cause I want to share with lots of people since one of the spots you can find chalcedony that's almost robins egg color and has opalescence so I have to hold that urge to over share in.

I'm real excited and in this moment setting up to record me cleaning a first time discovery for me. I'll be having surgery on Thursday so getting out hounding will be out for about 4 weeks and when I start again either I'm bringing along some muscle for carrying in the form of my friend Mike or I have to change my name to Only One Rock. I'm not supposed to pick up more than 10 pounds for 6-8 weeks. Rockhounds nightmare. So I'll be doing more Cut, Carve and Polish Series during that time with a couple few trips I'm squeezing in to edit while I'm down. Sorry...that was a lot more than you thought I would respond with.

Since I moved to Sweden to start over with an internet gf, I rarely get the homesick “FOMO” or other longings for the PNW BUT this kills me dead inside 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I miss my mountains and the sound of water flowing all I hear is TEARS 😂🤣😭😭😭😭😭😭 You are actually reallllly close to my brother I believe. ( Westport) If you are finding Carnelian no need for my suggestions but I could point you toward a place that I discovered as a child ( you know people don’t share such finds). It is in the top of Kalama , although they sold the property after logging and built houses BUT this area , where they hit the roots and pulled up stuff from below it was legit , there was gem grade , beautiful red, orange, and quartz that was between globular and crystal, so lots of crystals that were odd shaped, many would show some iridescence. I can point to an area that was property of the lumber industry , where they dug trenches to keep people off OUR land one could find more crystal than could be carried. And bear shit just around the corner…. Im sure parents used that to speed me up. I think they took me up there for a few birthdays and when I would get a C On the report cards etc…
@@sherry2483 I have been looking for Fossils in the top of Skåne and Baltic Amber down on the South East tip. I would love to go looking for Meteorites way up North. Mostly fossils, there are some neat places right around here. There is also the chalk deposits which you can even see from space, from the White cliffs of Dover in UK across Europe all the way to Ukraine, same ones you often see being used as a range because they been quarried for use in transforming peat bogs into farmland among other things but you can sift it looking for sharks teeth. As for the Amber, it is due to a submerged forest under the Baltic and it floats so..

I'll always take location suggestions! I find carnelian sometimes but I'd be happy to find a honey hole of carnelian if it exists or it can still be accessed. Weyerhaeuser owns so much forest land and restrict access...or allow access for some recreational activities...at a steep price tag for the pass...and no mineral removal allowed. You give me the location and I'll start my property research. I don't usually get that far from home for trips yet and I may not be able to get there this year but I'll still talk with you about it now. You know I normally don’t comment but I just got to say man, if you are moving rocks out of the way to get to another rock please put it back. Try to not cause a lot of environmental damage. If you keep moving rocks out of the way that creek will eventually erode faster because there are no rocks slowing the water. Thanks man.
@@SB0458 Respect...I get that. I had to do a lot of consideration on just that subject when I first started. I do think of the environment, had to talk to some people about it, and then find my place that I feel comfortable in and also hope that others understand that place. I'm not trying to justify myself here by mentioning that others go real deep with it...digging underground or mining but I don't do that. I may consider a pay to dig place for Thundereggs some day but will have to check with myself on that as well. That said, yes I might move a rock aside or pull one out that's partially showing but my individual impact is minimal at most, especially in that location as I understand from speaking with the land manager of the area. I've been walking in rivers since I was a kid and I couldn't count how many times just walking on the rocks can displace them as they move under your feet, especially in cobble. It's such a steep canyon with rock everywhere. During the winter months the flow is extreme... slightly changing bends, bringing down old trees, relocating rocks, while other rocks fall in from the hillsides and banks. I'm not digging below the surface of the bed and I remove any and all life I can find on the rocks before they go in the bucket. It takes me hours that way to go very little distance. This is also a little used location and if I'm lucky I get there a few times a year. So all of that wasn't to say I'm right and you're wrong or any other combination of that stuff. I really respect your opinion and I may adjust how I do things or at least consider you the next time I want to pull one out of the mud. This was more of a way to let you know what I'm about and that I'm not out there being disrespectful...or at least I don't think so. Take care Fred

That's so sweet❣️ I noticed that all of the agates are not creek-tumbled, so the source has to be very close by. Such nice finds and BIG ones, too!
