For cacti club, on any other character than the generalist you just ignore the ranged damage portion and use it to boost your lifesteal. Basically you can think of it as a swingable weapon with a lifesteal boost.
I agree, the spikes are cool for applying effects, not for their damage, so you don't need to build ranged damage. I do think that the combination of scaling only for 80% with melee and having a really slow attack speed makes it difficult to build though. You're basically trading damage for good crowd control.
I have a vendetta against the nuclear launcher because it’s really good, but my brother had a run with it and lost barely because he used the nuke launcher to carry instead of using strategy to win.
Nicely done, for future tier list videos consider ranking them against other entries within the same tier by putting them in left -> right order. So 1st entry in S-tier is better than the last entry in S-tier and so on. I'm trying to win a D5 run using 6x of the same weapon for every weapon, a self-imposed challenge I guess you could say. So a lot of times the question becomes "okay I'm going to pick X weapon because I need to win with it, so which character should I pick to give myself the best chance?" Perhaps an idea for a future video, or maybe it's too niche, idk.
I think that gets too granular, especially because a lot of these weapons have very different playstyles or not a lot of difference between them - I do mention a couple times when a weapon is notable within its own tier, but trying to place them exactly I think would be a lot of dead air in the recording :P Great video idea, and one I have planned is pretty similar!
It annoys me to no end when a person creating a tier list, also ranks them by tier. At that point, just make a ranking list and skip the tiers. The whole point of a tier list is to group similar-strength things together.
Want to say a word about the Pruner - one of my favorite weapons ended in the D tier. It gives you money, a ton of healing and it's scaling improves to standard as you upgrade it. It is a solid choice for many tough characters and gets the job done. I'd consider it a B tier
I've been doing a lot of random/random D5 runs lately and this is a great list, but there's a few points I disagree on. By far the biggest miss of this list is the screwdriver, which is the better engineering weapon. The land mines are very strong if you kite packs into them or just have a lot of them, and having engi scaling on the weapon attack is huge because it allows characters with reduced damage scaling (engineer and entrepreneur) to have a melee weapon that does good damage. The best engineering build is probably 4-5 screwdrivers with 1-2 wrenches, but 6 screwdrivers are a lot better than 6 wrenches. My vote for the best weapon in the game is the spear. It's basically a ranged weapon with infinite pierce and 1x melee dmg scaling. Slingshots are solid, but the best ranged build for me has been 3-4 SMGs + 2-3 shotguns (full SMG struggles with aoe without piercing or baby). Also, I would put hand in D personally because trying to play like pacifist as not pacifist has gone miserably for me. Even if you win you're fighting for your life the whole time, which is not what I would expect out of an A tier weapon. I mostly agree on everything else; I'd just move a few others up or down a tier but I don't think your placements are unreasonable. I know this video is old so sorry if these are things you've changed your opinion on since then 😅
Another list, and another job well done =) BUT: The minigun is just a better smg overall (faster attacks for lifesteal, integrated pierce), and totally fine at epic rarity. So it's S tier for me.

I really like Ethereal weapons, and the most success I've had with them is when I pivot off of them at some point. I find the game rewards you for doing this, too -- early on, we don't mind if we lose armor, and we can get that armor back late game when we replace most or all of our ethereal weapons. I haven't won very often on Danger 5, so we'll see how long I hold onto this valuation!
It's definitely very cool that you can swap off and keep the bonuses! The cost is that whatever you switch to will usually be lower level, since you won't have been able to roll for them easily in the early game. Of course, if it's a nuke launcher that doesn't matter!
Power fist - it dealt more dmg on level 20 then 3 of my orange regular fists, it is S in my opinion because it can carry your below average build Torch - is not that bad just because of attack pattern, it has pretty nice slash and can carry early game with play style of hit and run in big circles for Lightning Sword and Plasma hammer - you usually get in after wave 10 and it solves something that you struggle at that point with melee, aoe so it is almost always S Ghost Scepter - splashing it in early-mid game to any range build will give you crazy hp return even if only one of the 6 weapons and it will not cause issues with its tags, just treat it not as a weapon but as a +hp (it doesn't impact dmg much) Laser Pistol - another safety gun, it will do comparable dmg to something like SMG, But it will kill chargers efficiently, so also good as splash weapon, and vs elites Sniper Gun - oh boy, you should look at its interaction with pierce and how many projectiles it produces, with minimum range it will outdps All other weapons, in my book its place is near Nuclear launcher because you can pretty much sell all other weapons when you get it if you have a bit of range and some pierce. Try endless with it, it's hilarious, I replaced 6 slots with it once and it felt insane even after wave 40.
laser gun sucks imo , do the same runs with Revolvers and see what happens thing is SMG for example incredible fast attack speed = a lot more chance to Life steal or crit now with Lasers guns you attack so slow that youre missing on crits / life steal i really think there a lot more weapon that are better (smg or revolvers for exmaple) it works? it works. is it amazing ? i dont think so same woth Crossbow , do they work ? they do . are they amazing weapons? they are not (imo)
@@kughdommed4582 actually I did a hybrid revolver/laser gun, it had the same dmg before getting pierce. The trick is to not pick a crappy pierce item because it nerfs laser gun too much. But overall I agree that the gun is suboptimal, esp as a mono gun build. I tried so hard to make crossbows work on range character, but they suck so much..
@@laQwoter Yeah that's why in general a good tip is to either go piercing guns together (laser , pistols+) and non piercing separate (smg , revolvers+) that way you dont nerf lasers with pierce since they already pierce I did a crossbow run the other day on Ranger , and took me like 4-5 tried to pull it off , I think you need a lot of crossbows to make it work , like if youre wave 9 with only 4 crossbows a, its pretty much over and they really need crit

That sounds right to me! Those are the two best classes for plank I think (other than the just very powerful classes that can use any weapon), so a combination would probably be really strong
I think that's overall true, though that one flamethrower is *so* good that it's still very powerful (My most recent random weapon run with Plank Streamer really showcases the full power of the flamethrower). It's also worth mentioning that because flamethrower is so good with lifesteal it can still be good to have 2 even though the fire won't stack
Curious on your opinion with the new weapons? Heavy emphasis on buffing Elemental damage I think. Just cleared Danger 5 with Crazy after struggling for a while with an Icicle build. Weirdly, the extra range from the Crazy there was actually fairly useful with that weapon.
Hey man this is a great video, agree with almost everything on the list but personally I dont like spiky shield all that much, there are a lot of items I wanna take that reduce my armour for other stats and (mainly) the really good armour items are pretty expensive I feel. but its definetly not bad by any means

I personally disagree with how low you rate Range as a stat. One of my primary rules in playing is to always be killing, and with extended Range you can do this much more reliably as you stay centered. The build I made to get the +300 Range achievement was SMGs with that range, and from waves 14-19 I literally only had to move to tap trees and dodge Elite charges (on 20 I had to move more due to boss attack patterns). It will never be primary, but on any Ranged build I’m always happy to have 100-ish bonus to it.
Since enemies move towards you I find it's very rare to be not shooting, but range definitely isn't bad! I just think it's more useful to prioritize other stats, especially since you will usually want to be moving to collect mats and kill trees anyways.
Disagreed about the Crossbow. It’s just not worth to upgrade ranged damage on it, just go with pure range, crit and attack speed, and boom, no one can even get close to you. Maybe I’m biased, but after seeing how it makes Hunter easy win I easily put it in A or S tier, it also works with Soldier nicely. Just forget about ranged damage, upgrade range, damage%, crit and attack speed. That’s all you need to make it perfect.
Crossbow is very good for Hunter for sure (it's what I use in my Hunter guide). Definitely better to scale with range than with damage. I think most other classes have better options though
My answer to like a quarter of these is "this is all true but have you considered that it's cool as hell 🤔 " The nice thing about being too bad at the game for danger 5 is that, when I lose, it's because I took avoidable damage, not because I decided to go all in on screwdriver on my alchemist run.
Sure! Never avoid something you think would be fun because a guy on the internet said it wasn't mechanically optimal. At the end of the day it's a game :D
Every time i build eshiv and decide to take thundersword, it performs waay worse than the fisrt one, i think you haven't played with eshiv enough, to me it is at least a tier, i don't remember myself losing with it

Think worth noting on the scythe that it has secret lifesteal built in like the medical weapons, which helps mitigate the damage ticks

Great video, just considering apprentice i would have put Cactus in C tier. He is carrying fully with only this weapon.

Good video, it seems as elemental weapons seem to be the weakest of the groups, since I the only S tier is flamethrower and you only want 1 of those.

So the Pruner is D because it's weak...but the even weaker Hand is in A? Why is the Hand in A?
Hand gives you a lot of harvesting and has high knockback, so you don't need to actually kill enemies to survive/get money with it.

Cacti club D tier? 4 extra hits to proc health steal off with the wildling seems like no brainer.
Shuriken is S tier for me.
Ghost scepter gives you hp. That's fun. It should be B. Also Minigun deserves to be in A tier smh.
