You can use this tool from the hand as an improvised knife or ulu (It’s great for skinning game) or fashion a handle from the surrounding woods and use it as a hatchet or hammer. It’s a tough well constructed tool that will last generations... not to mention it is a whole lot of fun to use. Made from 65MN Carbon Steel and comes with a genuine leather sheath.
@CURRIN1776 and Survival Steve are out testing this cool little bushcraft tool called the Skatchet!

Were could someone buy one of these
do you not have Google? Or know how google works?
Had one in my go bag for about 35 years. Works great!!!!
Nobody gonna mention the nice chunk he chipped out of his finger trying to get the handle...
I saw that too lol
Yes the gutting hock is oriented wrong.
It need to be an the side of the blade, not the back. Overall perfect concept, but it NEEDS updates.
The gutting hoch is oriented wrong, it needs to be on the side of the blade, not the back.

I was going to say the same lol. That thing is a hazard.
I was going to say the same lol. That thing is a hazard.
I was thinking I need something like this before seeing this its perfect it needs a cover now maybe
Oh its has one any way
Put a stick on-nair! 🤣🤣
Love the accent lots of my family are from eastern Kentucky.
👍 I come from the Taylor line that's been in Kentucky since Kentucky's been Kentucky
@@robertament3268 Well ya know what that means!
@@abundantharmony cumon ya'll let's go warsh er clothes n the crick! ! You implyin I is a inbred hick? Well my third nipple says you just might be right & I can't really argue that! But we don't get much choice of the family we're born into. I'm first generation removed, CO born and raised and proud of it but I am not ashamed of my heritage either. 🤣
@@robertament3268 Newsome and Delong from down there for me.
He ain't got no accent he's got a draw'll ya'll
"Tell us what you think"
I think you're one sapling away from finding out what happens when that head detaches from the handle.
Reinforce it with some cordage to reduce that possiblity.
He could drive a wage into it
😂 lol!!!! Made me laugh so hard. I mean if it was the only thing I had whatever but I would never buy it to be the only thing I had. And I wound never attach it to the end of a stick lol!
I think these guys are a bunch of larpers who don’t really know what they’re doing…
Actually it's a lot more useful than you think and I say this out of personal hands on experience. I was given one from my best friends grandfather about a before he died 13 years ago. It was the best most useful knife I ever owned. I was more likely to not have my wallet or my keys than to not have it on my side. Done with the correct diameter branch the threads are sharp and cut into the branch & holds extremely well.
I’ve learned the hard way that when processing game there is sharp and there is really sharp when it comes to knives. I now keep my skinning and processing knives separated from the rest of them. Carry a few knives at least.
Agreed
You want razor sharp knifes for any kind of processing really
The short reminded me of the book Hatchet I bet with just this tool you could survive quite a while in the wilderness
Bro I read that
Great book
And with that I say just get a solid hatchet and forget this tool
You need knowledge as well. Just a hatchet head isnt going to help if you dont know much about survival
@@walkingdeadman4208 nope, like giving an ape an ipad
Simplicity is key. And this is simple. I love it. Not the biggest or the strongest but functional and small enough to add to a backpack.
bro he almost cut his finger off, look at all the blood when he hits the tree while holding it by hand
@@UnknownGamer40464 Yo I did see that. Its not a gut hook hehehe, its a finger chopper. 🤣🤣
Just get a hatchet
Knows what’s even simpler? A hatchet. No outdoorsman is going to use this piece of junk.
I'll stick to more traditional ways...
I love it honestly, only thing I'd change is making the threaded hole a big wider for stronger handles but it looks like an absolutely solid tool
Little more end on the hammer side to
I agree though I would add stating having the threaded hold a little more towards the middle would also make it more effective when swinging it as a hammer in my opinion.
I think the hole size is fine personally. A green stick of good quality wood should hold up. You can also use a larger diameter stick and trim down the tip to fit perfectly. Someone somewhere else in these comments suggested a wedge as well. That being said, a larger hole isn't a terrible idea, I'm just playing devils advocate.
It's a pretty interesting tool I think.
Bought 2 of these back in the 70's (l think) & they were much cheaper. I liked how it functioned back then & happy to see it being sold again.
these have been around for many years, I had one in the mid 80s. just watch all the sharp edges
Perfect multi tool hatchet. Definitely a keeper
It wood be nice to have something like in my bag for survival
definitely find right oak handle for it and anchor right...🤔✌️👍☝️💪🙏
Scatchet is the ultimate survival tool. I’ve carried one for 20 years now In the Bush that was passed down from my great grandfather.
Thing looks like a novelty item but with how crude and basic it is it would be the perfect survival tool. things not gonna breaking on ya and has multiple uses making it a great for limiting space, pairing this with something like the settlers auger and you'd be pretty well set.
Love that that would be cool for my bug out bag or my bushcrafting
What do you carry in your bug out bag? I'm looking for ideas
@@mainmanmooky8820 there's only a few main components you go to have for your bug out bag. If you follow (Dave Canterbury five C's or the 10 C's of survival) that should be the basis of any bug out bag. Then you just add on from there. Stuff in the City versus stuff in the woods can vary but only slightly because there is a few things you need and have to have versus want to have.
@@BUZZKILLJRJR I've not heard of the 5 or 10 C's, but it sounds like a good starting point. Thank you, my friend
@@mainmanmooky8820 you're very welcome the first five C's I can tell you here in the 10 but Dave Canterbury really explains why he made those away for people to remember, (1.Cutting tool.) Aka your knife, a really nice pocket knife or Bushcraft knife hatchet so on.
(2. Combustion) aka fire source, (3. Cordage) aka strong string paracord light rope. (4.Cover) aka waterproof tarp, blanket, tent poncho something to protect you from the elements if the weather turns horrible and you have no shelter.( 5. Container) aka a canteen preferably a metal container so you can boil water cook food so on and so forth. The 10, C's go further with a candling device, a compass so on and so forth. you should check it out he's an amazing survivalist. Another one of his main rules as (one is none) and (two is one) it doesn't take up any more room to throw a pocket knife in your pocket and throw a Bushcraft fixed blade bigger knife in your backpack throw a lighter in your pocket and throw one in your pack or a couple lighters in your pack in separate pockets so your not screwed if you lose one. Your pack really won't weigh very much at all a couple of pounds if you get the right stuff you can even get a tarp from Walmart and roll it up really small and throw it in the bottom of your backpack.
@@BUZZKILLJRJR Thanks, buddy. I'm not bad on the survival part, but I want to go from "good enough" to "great."
Much-appreciated. I'll check that bloke out.
That's really cool I want one
Multipurpose tools that work are always a plus to the kit.
I found one of those years ago. Still have it. They're super awesome..
what is it and what is its name?
@@AV3283 it's called a skachet. I don't think that they are made anymore. I got mine off of ebay
I had one as a Kid in the 90s. Think Dad got it at Tractor Supply Co
Would you buy it again and would you recommend it?
That's awesome little kit.
I believe you just reinvented a shelter building tool for survival experts well done
No. Just no.
My grandfather invented this. This is no new invention
That instrument is a vision of beauty 👍
That sure looks like a handy tool and it doesn't take up much space and easy to carry! I love it!
Definitely something I’d have in the bag with my fire starters, Swiss Army knives, and various other small handy dandy tools ⚒️
Can you tell me honestly why you wouldn't use a lighter?
@@shadowfall2011 Because I wanna earn that fire, make my heart burst with joy with its red flame of warmth in the cold winter of the northern states, surround by the white snow, far away from everyone, isolated and alone, to be at peace with who I am, to know where I'm going, even if it's just an event there, I still want that feeling to know I still have that skill to make a fire anyway I want, if i can't make a fire with someone I know, I can at least teach them an still get to be warm with or without them.
@@shadowfall2011 cause ya dont always have a waterproof container to put one in and it runs out quicker than a ferrocerium rod so, really, a knife and one of those rods are generally just more reliable in survival situations, even if they're not really the easiest things to use for some.
It’s fun to try bow drilling, using flint and steel and other methods to create fire. A lighter is cool and easy. I’ve had nights outdoors where I’m cold as hell, it’s snowing and I’ve hiked a lot; due to life circumstances we had to bow drill to make fire. It took over an hour to start the fire, when it was started and we got warm. The feeling of accomplishment cause “we did that” was awesome. That feeling wouldn’t have happened with a lighter. That’s why I wouldn’t just use a lighter.
@@robertcharles2104 this I get, so thank you
Everyone should have one. Should be considered a must have in all households and vehicles.
That is badass I'm a true fan of survival tools and knifes
Top 10 people who look exactly how they sound.
Idk, he sounds like Dr Phil to me
Great hatchet for camping, compact, at a glance, I like it.
I don't have a lot of use for it personally but I know a couple of friends would love this thing.
Looks very convenient for a bugout bag
It looks strange but your genuine reaction makes me think it's pretty cool tbh
Love the shout out to the Ulu!! Proud invention of my people. Thank you
You ain't got people
I got one of those about 30 years ago. I love it.
I had to rewatch and read carefully because I thought he said uwu knife
I love the size. I am short in size. So small multi use Bushcraft tools are the best.
Right on
Compact survival tool.
I have one of these that's over 20 years old and still in great shape.
Yep into the bag!
I’ll definitely want that.
Oulu is awesome this design is ancient ,very smart tool.
that has got to ve one of the best survival tools on the market I want one honest
The skatchet and the pioneer tool you could build anything you needed in the Bush
That’s definitely useful… not a fan of all-in-ones but this is a single solid piece! 👍
that looks like very handy tool , kinda reminds me of a pioneer wrench type idea
I like it. Solid craftsmanship backing a great product. It's Awesome.
It's a multi tool, which becomes a Hatchet. How the fuck can that not be awesome? Hell yeah 👍
If anyone was wondering, I have been using mine for over 40 years. Even though it's cast steel, it looks like it did when I bought it. It's quite durable, takes a sharp edge and can be fitted with a hickory hammer handle if you don't mind a little whittling. My handle has been attached for 30 plus years and shows no sign of loosening. The threaded eye holds wood quite well.
🔥
"ULU KNIFE! NOT UWU KNIFE" I had to put down my phone while cooking so I heard "Uwu knife" I was flabbergasted.
I love your content it’s what I love for 😂❤
That looks like it would be a very helpful toil to have and it looks like it can make a lot of things easier. Thank you for sharing this video.
Amazing bit of kit for skinning.
The gentlemen recording felt like he was breathing through my own lungs at the end
I thought that was me.. 😅😂
That's pretty cool man, hopefully you don't get a weak stick😜
As a life long outdoors guy from cub scouts to a 48 year old solo camper, who has near every gadget and tool ever made for bushcrafting and survival, I think this is an awesome tool! Handy for hiking. Esp light wieght minimal gear camping or bug outs.
That's a whole 10/10 that would help alot really
Y'all got me sitting here thinking I might need to go get me one
@monkey B careful with ur fingers lol
I think sticking a skinny stick in there and using like a hatched is absolutely insane 😂. I've had axes break, no way I'd trust a random skinny stick to hold up from swinging, that thing would snap and he flying back at your face easily 😂.
Ulus are nice knives from native cultures in Alaska, and god I love being of Alaskan descent.
Very cool, definitely something to take camping
Pretty sick!! Looks tuff👍🏼😎🤙🏼👊🏼
Definitely cool, kind of resembles Intuit aliuti knife 👍
absolutely perfect survival for whats coming soon!
I think its pretty cool!
Two thumbs up
That's a awesome all in 1 combo
Cool little tool
Good bushcraft tool for multipurpose use. Small, not light weight but toteable.
I've actually got one of these. Got it on my 10th birthday. I'm 58 now. A threaded piece of pipe works better than a stick. Decent little tool though.
I haven't seen one of them in at least 30 years I agree with you I think it's a good handy tool is survival Bushcraft
The Skatchet is something I could use in my life. I could do a lot with that.
Looks versatile to me almost perfect for survival
I’ll take two! That a pretty cool tool.
Reflective part in the handle too.
I'm forging this! Thank you for the idea. This a different Ulla than I've seen.
Looks solid very useful.
I want one.
It's definitely fairly unique. I'd say it's more like a backup tool. Wouldn't want to use it as your main hatchet or knife etc.
Makes a great backup tool.
Thanks for the description Dr Phil
Definitely a multi tool to have with you at all times.
I love it. Keep it and don’t get rid of it. That’s a fine impressive tool of the ages
“Bobby Trippe and Ed Gentry have entered chat and start to sweat profusely after hearing a bush craft guy with that accent.”
pretty neat lil tool. useful for edc as its small enough to carry in a pouch.
When he was holding the axe he looked like a Viking.
oh i’m totally forging a set of these
Just make a traditional tomahawk. They were meant to have a friction fit handle so the head could be removed if needed.
@@chrisjones6002 and you can probably grab a stick and shove it in there BLAMO
GOT YE A CHOPPER
Looking good
Small and still able to use for simple Bushcraft I like it. Be good for a get home bag small but strong .
what a great idea for a weekend trip
That's incredible!
Geniuses where they get their ideas from I can't imagine!
Awesome little multi tool. Simple
I need one of those. It looks like it's a good tool.
Survival must have tool
Perfect bush tool. I need one to try please.
He could end the entire norse mythology with that thing
Completely forgotten about that little beauty! But i remember it well now great tool in the perfect size 👍✌🏻🤙🇨🇦😊
Usable multitools are always good.
Badass tool. That being said, making it a hatchet is a little sketchy. If the stick you put it on breaks, that blade could go flying off and hit somebody. Better than not having a hatchet at all though.
I think it is a pretty cool and usefuul little gadget of survival and so much more
I mean it's definitely worth getting for the collection that's for sure
Pretty good 👍
Ive never seen one looks pretty cool honestly would like to try it out sometime
