This just happened to my Zoe on exactly the same part of the hinge. Maybe the hot weather had something to do with it, but it seems like a bit of a design flaw! I was looking for repair options because I suspected that type of plastic is impossible to glue successfully, especially under the excessive spring pressure as you say. I've got the BMW cover on order, tanks for uploading 👍
Great video! So I am getting my new zoe on monday. Do you think eventually that part will break? Is there anything I should do to prevent except lube? Should I be gentle?
why except lube? The lubrication is the reason it breaks. If it's going hard re-lube with something that is not aggressive to plastic and it will last forever.
