    FYI your camera worked perfectly. Appreciated your review. At 72yo, 6 feet tall, I just bought my first 883. Love the feel. A bit hard on the bumps but still a great buy, Thanks

      The roads here are rough, so this poor sportster was not great for the bumps!

    Bro, I am a 46 year old man, I bought a 2014 Superlow 883 delivered in Jan 2015, I have customised it like an iron 883, but I didn't change to the iron 883 tank although I liked it, because the existing 17 lr tank gives me more mileage, for the lack of comfy, I have added the back rest pad, the bottom-line is most of the Harley riders ride for the feel only, and not for comfyiness, although now there comfy Harley models. For me it's a forever bike due to many reasons. I love it and thank my God for it. I own it as on date inspite of so many problems in my personal life, and I hope that I will satisfactorily ride my HD throughout my life by overcoming whatever Hurdles, thanks for your video, as it relates to me,, I am able to give my own experience on the Superlow m, but to my job and other family commitments, I am not able to do so, anyway I hope that vloggers like you will surely able to give the necessary inputs .....

      I'm glad you found it somewhat useful :D I ramble a lot about nothing in my videos!
      I have started a new job and am commuting every day on my XL883L now - Only about 3 miles to work from my house haha! It's comfortable for that short burst!
      Ride safe my friend!

  • @genegoodwin8925

    Yes, the 883 is a good beginner bike because of its low seat height, it is easy to handle and it does not have 100hp. But it can also be a good bike for anyone who wants to enjoy the ride. With all of the after market parts available for a 883 you can make it the way you want it. You can make it look like a chopper, a touring bike, just about anything except a fast sport bike.
    One thing never mentioned about the Sportster is that it is much simpler than the Harley Big Twins. For example the changing of the drive belt can be done very easily on a Sportster while it takes all day (maybe two) on a Big Twin. The rear shocks are on the outside of a Sportster while on the Softails are underneath and a major job to change.
    I'm old, and have been riding since 1964, I average 15,000 miles a year and will NEVER own an adventure bike or a sport bike. I like the Iron 883 because it comes with fork gaiters which protect the front forks and in the long run protect the fork seals. I love the Sportsters. LONG LIVE THE SPORTSTER!

    I know this is an older video but to help you make tighter turns with the bike drop your elbow some in the turn. So instead of pointing your elbow out when pulling the handlebars in a really tight turn pull it towards your body it feels really out of sorts when you do it the first time but get a feel for it when you start doing it.

    Love my 05 XL883L! Plenty of power and with a cam and Thunderheader exhaust it has a lot of punch! It's a good bike for someone who isn't a big person. I'm 5 foot 11 and 175 pounds and it fits me perfectly! I have a few videos of mine on my channel.

    Thank You , excellent review , I’ve never ridden a motorcycle due to a major back surgery at a younger age , every year I contemplate the idea , a super low with a 48 front end bored polished & smoothed internally with a super charger , you gotta love Harley for their years of interchangeability , I was contemplating a trike , but this lighter bike with extra suspension & bigger front tire may be just the ticket , bigger tires need bigger motors especially on American interstates & I could only justify such a purchase if it were to keep daily miles off of my one & only daily driver as well as providing better gas mileage than my truck , Lucky for me American dealerships are eager to sell & sometimes willing to build 😅 , wish me luck in the somewhat near future , Thanks for sharing , George

      @@bakedchrispy7261 it’s been a great bike! I put forward controls on it for her and put a Dakota digital speedometer on, and a swing arm bag. Only things I changed. This is her very first bike. She wanted to take her MSF and start riding with me instead of on the back of mine. Honestly I was really nervous about it. However she took to it amazingly well. Her bike sounds way better than my Road King. It’s really a cool bike. I honestly don’t get some people hating on sportsters. I’ve ridden it a few times. I really like it. Beings how it’s her first bike we probably won’t ever get rid of it. She finally got on the highway yesterday with it actually. I’ve been taking it really slow with her. Just wanted to feel 💯 with her before I wanted her on the highway. Enjoy your bike!

    Can any of the issues that deal with comfort-suspension, etc. be solved with upgrades?

    • @skesby
      @skesby  5 місяців тому

      Depends on the size of upgrade - I bought a new, bigger bike :P
      You could easily change Seats (I had about 4 for that Superlow) , you could easily spend a couple of thousand on Suspension - Unsure how that works with the front end suspension though, I know you can get custom after market ones for the rear that can make a huge difference, I just was not willing to invest the money in to it when I knew eventually I would get a bigger bike!

      No... It is really tricky...
      We have some highway style roads here that I would be riding with my friends on their bigger bikes, and it's always windy... They would laugh at me because I would be all over the road with the wind, and they are sitting pretty.

    Will be looking at an iron late this year but now you got me thinking about the superlow hmmm. Arent they specd almost the same?

    • @skesby
      @skesby  3 роки тому +2

      Performance wise? The engines are practically the same, both pushing 54 ft/lb of torque. The differences come with the seat height. The Iron you feel like you are sitting on top of it, as its a higher seating position. The Superlow you are sitting in the bike.
      I took a Iron 883 for a ride while my bike was in for a service. It felt heavy and slow compared to the superlow, even though the XL883L is just slightly heavier.
