It can't be they only advertise new models. If people realize that a classic XJ can do this with some modifications and a great tires. People wouldnt get so much of the newer wranglers.
Great video but I have found that sometimes a narrow tire works better in deep snow. The wider tires set on top of the snow and spin a lot. I have a friend that works for a towing company in Michigan and he confirms it. He said that the vehicles with huge tires are the first ones to get stranded. I know when I was a kid back in the 50s all we had were really narrow snow tires but my grandfather never worried about getting out. Love the video and the camera action was fantastic.
Absolutely agree with the narrow tires......they cut deep into the snow, where wide tires tend to climb on top of snow..... I'm thinking the temperature needle was near pegged.....
@@LowGearMedia Thank you. Great to hear from you. The fact it is an XJ for me is a plus. I have a bought new blue 97 4X4 XJ Sport 2dr, Auto with (beige interior) super rare. 89,000. Gonna be making like new, paint, suspension. Want to go 3. but will not rid of factory trim and look. It being so rare with low mileage, thinking better than factory underneath at factory height, and just get another 2 dr 4X XJ down the line to bring up 3 and trick that out with all the ufo lights and bells and wenches and whistles. I am a 2dr XJ lover. I have another 2X 2dr. May convert it cause it is manual. Again that video is a beautiful representation of this passion.
@@my_name_is_chef4856 I did fix it and it was amazing. I eventually installed 40s on it but soon after we got pregnant and sold it as it wasnt practical any more. If you send me your email I'll send images of it on the 40" tires. It was a beast.
Put ya a small tranny coil cooler in the return line of your power steering pump ,,that'll quiet down that pump 😁 won't help the wrist pins or rod bearing tho 😄
@@alixrydzak6956 I loved my Grapplers but others also hate them. If you go with C Load rated tire and run low pressure you'll do well. The last guy I talked to with 35" Grapplers on a JKU was on E rated. Way too stiff if you ask me.
Yah, you are correct it wasn't. Just after this trip I discovered that the skirt on cylinder 4 busted clean off and caused a knocking sound. It got louder on the way down. Tossed a used piston in with a poor mans hone and ran like a dream for several years.
@@jeTROGIBBS I did. The cylinder wall was not damaged but I honed it anyway with a cheap drill one. Tossed in a junk yard piston with the rod bearings and kept driving it. No issues at all.

Shout out to the camera person walking backward and still getting good footage!
retnuh2010 I will let him know. 😉
This should be a JEEP advertisement!

Yep. I live in Michigan and snow wheel a lot in my 04 GC. 33" pie cutters are the trick.

Beautiful jeep! Looks like you were having a good time
Thanks. Sure was. Sold it a while ago and looking to build bigger and better.
LowGear what will the next rig be?
Best 4x4 and snow video hands down.
Thank you. Much appreciated

Reminds me of Colorado. A truck could not go on that and make it look that easy.
awesome video... this is my favorite wheeling.. sure you know this, but lockers will improve your life..
I'd say maybe look into limb risers just to help with the branches in the windshield relatively cheep
Xj love baby!
Well done. Thumbs up from me!
Sounds like you've got some piston slap. I'd look into that. Nice video though. I'll be getting 33in mts this summer
Great ear Wyatt. Later that year I discovered a broken skirt on the #5 piston.
@@LowGearMedia Dang. Surely you fixed it though. Once you get a clean XJ dialed you do anything to keep it.

I was thinking the same thing!
It’s beautiful out there!
only living the XJ - yeah so true !
Busted hood latch gang 🙏🏻👌🏻 same bro
Looks like a tractor👍
Why is he flexin on us

It hurt my ears and heart!
Yeah that's overheating the engine zero sir flow
Looks like someone needs some hood vents lol.
What size tires on that beast ?? 33 x What ?? Gotta Love Rolling through the snow, especially when No One Else is out ....
33x15 and 12.5 wide Nitto Trail Grapplers. Open/Open diffs.
Snow wheeling is what I live for, its peaceful, smooth and challenging just to go 10 feet.
@@LowGearMedia I agree, It's beautiful out there when it's just you and a few others out on the back roads, in my case, taking in the scenery !!
What size lift kit ???
Need lockers
Sure do
what tires are those? what brand and model?
Nitto trail grapplers, 33x15 and 12.5 wide.
@@LowGearMedia thanks for the quick reply, any tire that I can fit on my xj that does this well in the snow is good enough for me! :D

I was at about 4 or 4.5psi in this video. Also no lockers. It took 2 days to break that trail and this was once we got to the top.

Diesel? :D
Bartłomiej Banasiewicz knock knock. 😂
Lockers?
AkMedMan1. Nope, open open.
4lo or 4hi?
Where is this ?
Road Kill. This is cutting trail up to Hayman Lake in West Kelowna, BC, Canada. It was last winter as we don't have snow yet.
Not sounding right!

Was your hood open the entire time? Haha
Greg yes it was. I just pop it open when I am going slow but working it hard. With little air moving by it gets pretty warm.
Blows engine lol jk
BG Rexzz is ok he’d get to work and back as long as it starts (May need to buy assloads of coolant and oil but it’s a Jeep is ok cannot die)
Where was this?
This is on a trail to Haymam Lake in Kelowna, BC, Canada.
