      I’m sure she is patient with him too. Like I told my husband when I was navigating : it’s a democracy on shore but a dictatorship under way .... lol

    Happy to see your latest video. Also, nice to see that you are progressing with all the work you are doing on your beautiful boat. Looking forward to more updates, and eventually hope to have some good videos on your trip from North Carolina to Canada, which I am sure will be quite interesting. Your 2016 season on the water will surely be much better than in 2015.

      +Michel Ladouceur Thanks for your kind comments. We will absolutely be taking video of our voyage up the east coast. Hopefully I'll get some drone footage as well. Cheers to 2016!

    I remember how excited I was to change our boat name from “Itchin to Go” to “Knotty Pair”. Man I miss my boating life.

      +Searching for C-Shels I will for sure. the first 1 is going to be about the nightmare I'm dealing with now! hint: wet core

      +Fitz's Fixes, Oh no, sorry to hear. Hope it is above the waterline and is easily accessible. I've done that on previous boats. One hatch, and around a pumpout fitting. Hope the project goes smooth.

    We are re-watching your videos. There are not many new trawler videos coming out, plus you guys are a lot like us, just a bit younger. We'll be there in a few years.

    Great stuff. Found your channel while searching for Golden Triangle cruise info for our Summer 2017 "big trip". Coincidentally, we plan to retire early, acquire a used Tollycraft 44 or 45, and live aboard it starting in about 5 years. Eager to see how you like the 44.

      David Roman the 44 Tolly is a great coastal cruising boat. We love it so far. The only thing we thing could be better planned out would be a place to put a washer/dryer. Other than that the boat is perfect. I'd look for a boat with Cats if I were you. Good luck in your search. Keep in touch. We would love to know how your search is going. See you on the water!

      Cats are a given... do you have the 3208s? They seem to be the only diesel engines I ever see in these boats. The lack of washer and dryer concerns us too. Haier makes a 1 cubic foot washer that's roughly 18"x18"x30" and less than 50 lbs. I imagine you could find a place to store something like that and pull it out when you use it (which would be all the time, I suppose with 1 cubic foot capacity...). Still would need to hang clothes to dry though.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  7 років тому

      Yes, I have the 3208TA engines. These boats also come with Detroits; IMO they are too high horse power for the displacement and they are leaky, sooty, and less fuel economy. I have also seen repowers with Cummins which would be a great option as well. Some came with gas engines, but we don't want to go there. ;-)
      Hanging clothes works well. For now we have a Panda for small wash loads. We will get something more permanent later. If you get a Tolly with the genny under the aft cockpit floor, then that leaves room in the engine room, you could install the washer to stbd just under the lift up stairs in the galley. That is our planned location for the washer.

    Good evening I am in the buying process of a tollycraft 34 and am wondering if you had any advice for me
    Love your videos

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  5 років тому

      Great boats. You probably know we had a Tolly 34 and thats why you are asking. We honestly loved the boat. Where is the boat located? Just curious.
      There outside of getting a full hull/mechanical/engine survey done, there are really only a few things you should be concerned with checking. Make sure the waste tanks and hoses are good and have no leaks. The waste hoses should have been replaced by now, if they are original, it is a job you will need to do. Next is that the flybridge has a wood spacer on the outside that keep the flybridge secured to the cabin sides. This can rot, and though it's not a structural issue, it can be a pain to replace and should be a discount on the boat. You can find this wood by standing on the side decks, you will see large screws heads going from the flybridge side in the the cabin. The hand rail is also going into it. You can also see the ends of the wood by standing on the foredeck and looking up in under the flybridge at the sides. If it is rotten at the ends, it is likely rotted all the way back. Again, make sure you get that survey, it is very important when buying the boat. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Cheers!

      Also would you say it handles rough water as well as your 44

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  5 років тому

      It handles it well, but not as well as a larger boat like the 44. A bigger boat is just going to be better in bigger water.

      Hopefully our newer videos have a better volume balance. We still have audio issues though, ones we can't fix in the ahamas, we need external mics and stuff. We have a lot of exuma footage on a GoPro Hero 5 that is now known for it horrendously noisy audio, and it is almost unrepairable when editing. Hope you can stick around until we can clean this up. But we understand your frustration.
