  • On May 11, 2023, Officers Barrientos and Speights interacted with a woman named Rain at 611 S Main. Officers discovered that Rain had an active warrant for her arrest, which Rain stated she was unaware of.
Upon learning this, officers took Rain into custody. After verifying her U.S. citizenship and ascertaining no dependents, she was transported to the Chaves County Detention Center. Here, she received a copy of her warrant.

An arrest warrant is an arrest warrant, matters not the crime and/or law infraction. Police are 100% within local, state, federal, and constitutional law to arrest ANYONE who has an active warrant for their arrest, entirely regardless of why the arrest warrant exists.
Now, please tell, what other response choice do you believe she should have had other than being respectable and civil. She had only two choices. Either be a human being as she chose to be, or throw a hissy fit, leading to more charges than already faced.
Societal entitlement is a delusional fantasy. 2+2 does not equal 5, Earth is an oblate spheroid, not flat, and even non-violent offenders CAN and often times WILL be arrested for an active arrest warrant filed against them by a court of law.
I'd address your other non-factual sentence, but the internet, more specifically youtube, is already FILLED with objective evidence disproving that sentence in it's entirety.

A normal interaction between police and someone in the wrong side of law. It is good to see that, although the girl has a major awareness and proactivity issue (she knew she had to go to court, so saying that she don't usually check her mailbox should teach her to be more cautious in the future), she did understand the consequences and took it responsibly. In the same way, the police acted as they should, professional and calmly, never escalating the situation, explaining to the girl the options she had. This is a great statement that, when both parties cooperate, things are easy. Those that comment this is boring, well they can go and break the law and act in an irresponsible, defensive and aggressive way and I probably will see them in a future video on this channel. Me, I wish that almost all police body cam videos were like this, it will be the mark of a more civilized nation.

delivery service. She's smooth, slick with all the answers and she will disappear into wind as soon as she gets released from jail. Never enough serious charges
to keep her jailed. She'll move on to the next rural municipality living out of the next abandoned vehicle that will start and get her there. Eventually she'll settle
into a homeless encampment in a major urban area.

I'm now 63 years old. In 2011 I had an emergency 10 hours surgery, it was a miracle I survived. Dr. told my daughter that I had hrs. to live. I was completely cut from the rib cage to my pubic bone. 6 months bed ridden. 2 days before that I received $145 citation for dog leash law , but being very ill I forget about it. 3 years later someone hit my car on the side. No citation for me , but a police officer still checked my record and instantly took me to jail for the warrant. I had no clue for what. It took them 16 hrs (one good cop) to finally book me !!!! Than they kept me over night, and the next morning I saw the lady judge in a way too big orange jail outfit with legs handcuffs, a chain around my waist and handcuffs. The poor Lady judge , her eyes almost jumped out of her eye suckets when she read report about my criminal behavior 😂😂😂(now I'm laughing). I told her my story and even showed her my scar. At this point she very very loudly and clearly ordered immediate release of me from the jail, she repeated 3 X IMMEDIATE RELEASE AND SHE WAIVED ANY COURT AND JAIL COSTS TO BE PAID BY ME WELL ,THE JAIL REALISED ME AFTER 11 O'CLOCK AT NIGHT FINALLY. I'M PRO POLICE STILL, BUT THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY UNFAIR HANDLING BY POLICE....oh and of course they tow my car as well....... The only ok thing happened to me was that this guy's insurance paid me really well for very a minor damage to my door 👍🏻😜👍🏻

It's not unfair treatment by the police. If there's a warrant they have no choice but to arrest you. Everyone has a story & it's not their job to pick & choose which ones are truthful, that's the judge's job. Regardless of the circumstances you did fail to appear etc. I'm glad you got a judge who took your circumstances into account & dismissed everything though.

@@Maetsack Many times they have no clue what the warrant is even for. If they release someone who has an active warrant and that person hurts themselves or someone else the officer could be held liable. Also the officer has no choice in the matter they shall arrest. Only reason not to is when the warrant is from a different jurisdiction in this case they need to know if that jurisdiction will come get the person. If that jurisdiction will not pick up the person will be free to go with the warning they might want to clear up the issue.
