It's important to know how to administer instruments to a client with cognitive impairment. I think it's imperative to not let the client feel uncomfortable or judging them if they cannot answer the questions correctly to avoid influencing in their subsequent responses.

The questions differ from the original one and I think they allow the client to think a little bit more which allows the counselor to assess for cognitive impairment. This client seemed to have a low to moderate severity level of cognitive impairment as she was able to accurately answer the majority of the questions.

This looked so much more natural than the mini mental I administered in my intake interview actually felt.

This was very straightforward and little cognitive impairment was evident. Most of the trouble was in the counting section.
