Good update. Noticed the nice pavers. Y’all have been busy.

Hi @GammyGirl-gc2em . Thanks for the comment. Glad you like the video. The worm guys are munching away and totally happy :-) . As far as the pavers, I actually had my paver guy do them, but my son and I spent the better half of 2 months digging about 900 sq ft, getting it ready for the pavers. It was alot of time but it cut the cost in half by doing the work ourselves. :-) Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan

Just found your channel and video. I found it interesting that when you remove the bottom try you have a perfectly filled tray of castings. When you remove the bottom tray, is it sometimes empty or low? Or sometimes overflowing? Or is there some mechanism where it always has 1 full tray of castings for you to harvest?

Hi @Gary-zd7lr . Thanks for the comment. The reason the tray gets perfectly filled is because the whole system is based on a tapered shape of the worm bin. So as the worms eat and the worm castings build up, they keep getting pushed down until they stop at the bottom of the tray. So, when you pull the tray out and it's full, that means that it's been packed own that much. If you look at the 5 month review video (see here: ua-cam.com/video/ldzzl3BxSAs/v-deo.htmlsi=x_zSadKMSXBacPqH . ), you can see as I pull out the tray and point the camera up into the worm bin, there's a ton of castings still compacted there ready to come down. I've actually checked the tray earlier than would be the time to harvest the castings and the tray was maybe 1/2 way full. As you use the Hungry Bin, you'll get to know when you can expect a full harvest of castings, based on how much your worms are eating. In the summer, they're eating alot more so I can expect a harvest around every 6 weeks or so. But as the months get colder during the winter, they start slowing down a little bit so it could be over 2 months until I get a harvest. I hope this made sense. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out. Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan

I am confused. How does everything not fall out when you remove the layer???

Hi @Brwnsugaa45677 . Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for the comment. The whole idea behind the Hungry Bin is its tapered design. As the worms finish digesting the material, it settles to the bottom wedging it in the tapered shape of the unit. Following is a link to a video of the inventor of the Hungry Bin that might explain a little better: ua-cam.com/video/J-GgaOx68xQ/v-deo.htmlsi=nSHj2KsBpDNXZjxL . Thanks for watching! Jackie and Dan
