    Hi, I've been looking for a video such this to explain my students UV mapping and unwrapping in English for a CLIL project, but although this tutorial is well explained and in English so it would be perfect to learn terminology in English in this topic, the voice is really funny and I'm not sure if I can use it, unless creating a little bit of hilarity.

  • @TheWaynelds
    @TheWaynelds 12 років тому +1

    I dont usually unwrap my meshes. I just select the faces and use Cube Projection. I heard that there's a W coordinate as well. Im guessing it's the same as the Z coordinate, but im wondering how that would work since Z is depth and you cant really texture the depth of an object, or can you?

    In graphics programming, you can make a 3D image, with x, y, and z coordinates.
    It works kinda like a solid quad. This is used in hospitals and stuff to take "depth"-images:

    @peterwXXX Most of the terms are due to a matter of inheritance. They've existed before computer 3D in other crafts and such, like boat making, and have just become a part of 3d where the original craft lent some of itself when someone needed to create tools in 3d software. So it may well be that U,V and W were borrowed from somewhere else originally as well, and I'm fairly sure it's a math thing.
