    This is a great video! I am having my second baby in July! I struggled with pumping at work due to stress with my first. My supply slowly dwindled, and I had to give a little formula at the end. I wish I would have sought support earlier in my pumping journey. This time I feel so much more prepared. I talk to my patients and friends that are having babies about the importance of support with both breastfeeding and pumping!

    I work in hospitality and it's so hard to leave the front desk and put the willow on and then go back to work. Sometimes time gets away from me. Even though I try to pump every 2 hours sometimes it will be every 4 hours or maybe 6 hours, and my job is extremely stressful. I noticed because of this my supply has dropped to 1oz now. However, I still don't give up it's just seeing that 1oz sometimes makes me want to cry. Knowing though that there are other moms with this struggle helps my mindset so much. Thank you for this video!!!

    Hi Allison! This is so so helpful. I'm 34weeks, first time mother.. been following your videos for awhile now. I will be going back to work after 12-14weeks of meternity leaves. I really hope I can breastfeed/pump for atleast 1year for my baby.

    I have some job interviews in the future. Do you yourself or do you know of a referral that I can contact to get help with my interview? I have a newborn and do not have childcare. I don't know how to communicate my needs to my interviewer now that I am a new mom.

    I’m a working and pumping mom who also nurses - as a ftm for me it’s difficult deciding pump vs. nurse when I am at home because I only pump enough for 1 or 2 bottles. My girl also had a lip and tongue ties so at 8 weeks we are both still learning and trying to figure this out.

      It’s soo much to figure out isn’t it. Pumping is a whole different skill set than nursing! I would love to help you figure this out. Do you want some help walking through it?

    At 4:20 you said its not as simple as putting your pump on according to your schedule. Can you elaborate? Is it about HOW you pump? Set it and forget it doesn't really work, but what does work? You never said. Do you have another video for that? Or do you only give this information if we consult with you? You mentioned 30 minute breaks at work. I was once told by lactation that pumping longer than 10 minutes was pointless, but I've always found that I need 20+ minutes and I have to be very hands on. I came here to find out if I'm doing it wrong. It's one of those things you do in private so you never really know how other people do it or if you're doing it right.

    Allison! I’m due in august and I need help picking a pump! My insurance will completely cover the Elvie stride OR for $55 I can get the buddah pump! I’ve used the old boxy medela pump and I liked the suction but not being plugged to a wall. I used the newer medela Freestyle flex? I think it’s called, the portable pump, and on the highest suction it was not enough for me….which route should I go!? If I do baby buddah, I’ll get the legendary cups! I plan on exclusively pumping

    Exclusively bf mom and going back to work in 4 weeks… how much milk does baby need in bottle per feeding? Family is taking care of her so I can’t ask daycare what they recommend. Thanks!

    • @theresawest
      @theresawest 2 роки тому

      Usually 2-4oz. You need to use a bottle within 2 hours of baby finishing a feed off of it according to the CDC guidelines.

    My baby is drinking 3-4 oz bottles & when I pump per breast I’m producing about 3-5oz. At this point I feel like I’m pumping to empty my breast so they’re not engorged but I would rather exclusively breastfeed instead of exclusively pump. How can I fix what I’ve already started? I’m only 3 weeks postpartum

    • @NewLittleLife

      Working with a lactation consultant to help get baby back to the breast would probably be your best bet! Have you tried feeding at the breast? Just give it a go and then reach out for help as needed.

    I thought all was well until I had to text my male boss about the fact that I had my first clogged duct that was on the brink of becoming mastitis and I had to call out to spend the day trying to get it out. Ugh lol.
